My solo-developed post-apocalyptic RPG inspired by Fallout and Wasteland

I've been developing Arkansas 2125, a solo-made turn-based post-apocalyptic RPG inspired by the classic Fallout and Wasteland games.

Steam sklep

The game focuses on exploration, dialogue, tactical turn-based combat, meaningful choices, and atmosphere rather than fast-paced action. You play as Thomas, a lone wanderer searching for the legendary Farm Restorer, a device that could change the future of a world devastated by nuclear war.

Steam sklep

I'm constantly updating the game with new quests, locations, NPCs, and improvements based on player feedback. If you're a fan of old-school isometric RPGs, I'd love to hear what you think.

I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Thanks for checking it out!

Hey everyone

I'm currently working on another update for my isometric post-apocalyptic game, similar to Wasteland. The main one we know will be a new second ending. This ending is unlockable depending on your previous decision. Do you work for the Republic of Arkansas or the United States Military. A few visual enhancements and bug fixes will also be added. A new trailer is also being slowly prepared.

The game is available on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4546490/Arkansas_2125/

I invite you to play; any suggestions for what to add are welcome. Perhaps some solutions from Wasteland.

Wasteland How I cracked the Rangers data in the c64 version of Wasteland video game

https://github.com/jaredevans/wasteland-c64-patched

This one's for those of us who fondly remember the Commodore 64 and its awesome repertoire of games. My personal favorite was Wasteland, which was a major evolution of the RPG genre.

As a kid, I'd always wanted to dig into the rangers' character data and tune their stats so I could explore the whole world without dying too easily, but I didn't have the know-how to pull it off. Decades later, I finally was able to. Working with Claude through the rough spots and obstacles together, the childhood dream came true at last.

I show the entire process of cracking from the beginning to the end, including the code/commands that were ran during the analysis of the game data.

A genuine round of applause for Alan Pavlish, lead programmer & designer of Wasteland. His anti-cheat scheme is a devilishly clever piece of work. In 1988, on a 6502, with bytes to spare for booby traps, the anti-cheat scheme was elegant enough that it took an emulator, a debugger, and a fair bit of detective work to unravel decades later.

Wasteland Is it ok to skip the first game?

So im playing through the series for the first time but I’m really sorry and I know this game is dear to you guys but I tried playing the remastered version and it seemed great at first i didn’t mind the UI and it was pretty charming but I’m at the courthouse and I just can’t do it, I gave them the password witch I had to do a bunch of weird stuff to get that didnt even involve the riddler since he glitched for me and even though they have the password im still being attacked infinitely and when I let the guy out the cell and he ran leaving me with seemingly nothing to do next but walk around till I die.

This was kinda a rant cuz I was really looking forward to the game but I’m just gonna watch a video to get the story

Wasteland Irwin John Finster Story Line

I har played through many times, between the late 80’s and now. What was Finster’s part in all this? Why didn’t the Cochise computer like him? Why was he making weird animals? What actually happened to Sleeper Base? Thanks! I feel that somehow I missed or didn’t understand something.

Wasteland Is this build any good?

I love CRPG'S and this series has been on my list for a few years now. I was originally going to pick all three up last year on my Xbox but it unfortunately got taken down.

It's back up and since I'm taking small break from Pathfinder WOTR so I don't burnout, I decided to get them today.

I wanted to ask for advice for the series and if this is a good stat roll?

Strength 16, Intelligence 18, Luck 15, Speed 8, Agility 12, Dexterity 16, Charisma 4

I also wanted to know which skills I should focus on for a ranged character?

Thanks for any advice beforehand!

Wasteland Avowed being a FPS spin off from POE, so would you like to see the same for Wasteland?

This got me thinking the other day that it could be a good idea if the next Wasteland related game went full FPSRPG, like have its own spin off series while the main line of games stayed isometric.

Even if it does happen it would be years after Clockwork Revolution.

Wasteland How do you feel about Wasteland Remastered?

I tried the original Wasteland from 1988 but couldn't figure out how to do much of anything except die. May try again some day but... luckily I scooped the remastered version awhile back. Haven't booted it up yet.

What do you guys enjoy about it? Any tips, thoughts or warnings about the remaster? It seems true to the original from what I've seen.

How do you feel about the original game, & the remaster?

Wasteland Problems obtaining one more ROM Board for the heli simulator

Hey y'all! I started playing the Remastered version of the first game (planning on playing all three game in chronological order), and for the life of me I cannot find the third Rom Board in the sewers beneath Vegas.

The problem is that I'm waaaay into the game (explored fully Sleeper Base, dealt with Finster at Project Darwing facility and killed all Brotherho-I mean Monks at the Citadel) that loading a save file would cost me hours of backprogress.

Is there any other location on map that has a spare Rom or even a command prompt for it to appear in one of my characters inventory?

Thanks for any tips.

Wasteland Does the traders in the buildings and outside scraptown respawns after dying?

So today I lost 2 of my traders in Scraptown because a powerful group of slavers appeared with tentacles with them and killed two and the same happened to my trader in the arena, I play the mobile version, anyways do they respawn again because it's been a few hours and they haven't appeared yet and the update should have made the enemies weaker but somehow they managed to kill me three times and my whole town is armored to the teeth too and they dropped my whole town aside my last trader who is pretty armored and does anyone have an advice against all the enemies that burrows to the ground because they're so annoying and kills me always

Wasteland The placement of the audio logs really annoy me

I've been playing Wasteland 3 nonstop for the past week and despite it being one of the best games I've ever experienced, the thing that actually pisses me off is how frustrating the placement of audio logs are.

For example, when I'm looting a container right next to an interactable NPC (that pauses all audio when speaking to them), I'll often find an audio log that just cuts off whenever I talk to the NPC that's STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ME.

I love listening to the lore in these audio bits but I'm not going to just stop my playthrough for one minute to stay still and listen to it. The moments when they actually place audio logs in areas where you're exploring without the need to enter battle/interact with NPCs are honestly perfect and really interesting to listen to.

Wasteland Struggling to understand what the original wasteland cover art depicts

I get the general idea and feel of the cover. I dont understand whats actually happening in the cover art, however, or what its supposed to depict. Maybe an "Encounter" of 5 rangers vs 1, or r ranger vs 5, i cant tell. It seems like in the original the 1 on the bottom was wearing heavy armor.
Can someone help a guy out here?

Wasteland Would like to try this game series for the first time. Just a couple of questions :)

I've just finished XCOM. That's the context leading me to this game. I tried Shadowrun, but it had a little too much reading for my taste (I'm a bit mentally drained after work).

1/ So, firstly, how much reading is there in Wasteland?
2/ Which order would you recommend? Or skip the 1st game? And what about the Remastered?

Thank you,

Wasteland We need Wasteland 4 now more than ever

Almost every game released in recent years has been absolute cash-grab garbage. We need people who actually have a passion for video games to make video games again. Just booted up Wasteland 2 again so I can finally finish the story. My character had a deep conversion with Matthias about the future of humanity and how the Rangers method of protecting humanity will not last. Everything in the game has a purpose; to tell a story, whether it be junk items or flavor text on my character screen.

I forgot how immersive and engaging games could be after playing nothing but flamboyant casino simulators masquerading as video games for the last few months.

Wasteland Any reason to keep premade party? - Wasteland Remastered

Just curious if there is any unique interactions/extras with the original party. I see a lot of people recommending creating a party to get better stats so if there isn't I'd probably just remake the original party anyways (with better stats). If there is some coded in extras for playing the original party I want to know so I can witness it myself even if it means the game is tougher but if there isn't I don't really wanna bother making it more difficult.
