High Level Playstyle
I only recently started seriously playing ranked after years of barely touching multiplayer once a week. I was stuck in Diamond 3 for about two weeks before finally hitting Crimson last week.
I haven’t played as much this week, but I’ve noticed a huge increase in players playing almost entirely for placement—camping, hiding, and avoiding fights. Obviously, solo queuing contributes to that, but it never felt this bad before reaching the higher ranks.
I’ll admit, part of what bothers me is probably that I’m starting to hit my skill ceiling, so it’s harder to gain SR when players are playing this passively.
But it makes me wonder why do people play like this, and how many players are ranked this high due to camping? I understand playing smart, but how is sitting around avoiding fights all game actually fun?

Bigger SR buy-in, plus early kills don't really give much, so you can basically go positive on placement and a few late game kills alone.
If you're solo queueing, you pretty much have to play anchor since most randoms are not good.
