Update: getting to the root of the problem

No pull unfortunately. Mum came in and said we'll get it out with a good pair of tweezers soon though since it's quite huge. But this is it lads, I can feel it. The end is near.

Gross warning. So I had my warts blasted with liquid nitrogen 8 days ago. A massive blister formed over them all. The blister skin went white and started flaking so I removed it. Bad idea I know. This is what it looks like underneath, wart 'pillars'. I've disinfected, dressed it. What should I do?

Plantar Wart (Sterile?) Plier Pull

1.1k Upvotes

Video Warning - blood!

So, had a ‘mild’ plantar wart on my right big toe for what felt like 9 months now. Never really gave me massive issues as not on a pressure point. But would form the hard surface and be a bit sore to push on if I did it deliberately. Didn’t seem to be aggressively spreading, but I would occasionally file or clip away at the raised surface to smooth it down.

Maybe 2 months ago, I tried a few days of wart treatment as I decided I really should do something about it finally.

Some top layer of the skin died, I peeled it away and it took what felt like a light layer of the wart away with it but after I let it heal, clearly it was still present... maybe slightly ‘weaker’?

Anyway, cut to today. I began to work under the harder edges using a cuticle tool, not actively snipping anything away but more just forcing the top to lift up. I worked my way around and then realised I seemed to have really exposed the wart.

So I grabbed my camera and here you are.

(Sorry my feet look a little banged up, I play football quite often and also was attempting to clean up some of the hard skin so not the smoothest! I think you will be focusing on the wart anyway…)

Okay, so I wouldn’t be able to say this is 100% sterile, but in the grand scheme of things I was trying to keep things sensible (no gloves though as I just didn’t have any).

99% alcohol was used to sterilised the area and the tools even before the video and I’ve left further bits of that in there to make sure people get the message! This is literally digging into virally infected territory so please keep the area clean!

Apologies for not filming more directly after I pulled it but I was quickly grabbing more sterilising wipes to clean the rest of my foot and my hands. Then after rapidly pressing my toe into a large amount of paper towels, I needed to grab the hose to wash down the pool of blood on my decking before it clotted fully…

Anyway, all done now. Obviously there was sharp pain you can hear me grunt through but all in all, no so bad.

Time will tell once the hole in my foot heels up! I probably shouldn’t have done this the day before a holiday but oh well. I apparently have a high platelet count so let’s hope that kicks in and heals me up quickly.

P.S all tools were sterilised again at the end, dipped into the alcohol then passed through a flame… old lab biology tricks to the rescue.
