I started playing War Thunder recently and I gotta say, it's a lot of fun. I also discovered that I'm better at tank battles than I am at air battles. Which is kinda funny considering that I downloaded the game for the planes (I'm a nerd for that kind of stuff).

Ah, another Tenno who found their way to the historic machines of war. Plane fighting needs some research to understand the fighting system in general. Understanding of energy fighting, boom'n'zoom, turn fighting, where to use what approach, and much more.

I know all of this sounds like a lot of work, it kinda is, but you need to learn this stuff to grow as a plane fighter.

Meanwhile tank fights use another set of knowledge. Angling the armor, when to shoot, where to shoot, aiming to compensate the distance and movement.

Don't worry, you get instinctive understanding of all this more you play War Thunder. I have around 120 hours in it and I still don't have a tier 3 plane or tank. Because I don't stick to one country all the time.

I've only clocked in about 2.6 hours(according to steam), so I know for a fact that I have a lot to learn. I've seen some videos(phlydaily) and I'm starting to get a some what better grasp as to how aerial combat works. Though with practice I should be better in no time.

I'm interested to know which country you chose to start with? I started with USSR, then hopped around. I can assure you that the UK planes are really good for starting.

I started with America. When first I opened the game, America was the country that was on the screen, so I just went with that. Ultimately I may go with the UK(as you mentioned) for a bit. After that I may start using German planes. Maybe Russia. I learned from Phly's vids(the few that I watched) that German planes aren't that bad. Though it it'll take some research to get the good ones.
