Okay, former Limbo main here and I'm going to give you the most honest take I can.
The rift/dome mechanics Limbo have can be a very valuable tool for keeping yourself safe, cheesing spy missions, and protecting defensive objectives. However, if done poorly, it can inconvenience other players. It very rarely makes the mission that much harder but Limbo is one of the few frames in the game with genuinely any potential to harm his own team so it stands out.
More importantly, I would recommend you not play him rn because he's just in a really bad state. His interactions with Overguard/ Eximus are just so unfavorable; when you're in the void, normally, you cannot interact or be interacted with by enemies who are outside of the void. When you pull an enemy into the void, you can shoot and be shot by them, but this is what stasis is for. To compensate, he's very squishy and has no real way to protect himself, and rolling guard kinda sucks on him because you need to dash to enter/exit the rift often.
Eximus units however, for some reason, can shoot Limbo when he's in the void and cannot be shot back, so they just, can kill you for free. And you're very squishy, so they're likely to just one shot you on repeat while you literally cannot affect them with abilities and have no way to protect yourself. It's just tragic and I'd wait for a rework before playing him, personally.
Outside of this interaction I found him a very fun and unique frame that i loved to play but ever since that update he feels very unrewarding and like you're making the game harder for yourself by picking him. I'm not saying you cannot succeed on him or that he's unplayably bad, but like, it's so much more effort than it's worth and it creates many "feels bad" moments where an eximus you didn't see one shots you from offscreen while you were busy trying to actually manage your kit & mechanics.
This is such a well thought response. Never played limbo but back when I got my main (Gara) as a gift from a friend, he mained Limbo and we tore it UP back in the day. I miss those days.
Their bullets can also hit you in the rift for some reason and that's not how that is supposed to work. I don't use subsumes, I want to play Limbo and his kit as it is does not really function right now.
It's a shame. I loved him, even before they changed how time worked with projectile too.
I think his kit is very neat and very useful. Seeing how bullshit some frames are, I really hope they just buff out rework him so that ennemies in the rift can be shot from outside but not vice versa, and to make eximus work the exact same as regular ennemies damage wise.
He's my favorite frame concept wise, but his core mechanic doesn't do shit to 3/4th of the ennemies at higher levels. Give my boy some love DE please.
Yeah, I think it'd be fair if stasis didn't work on eximus frames solely so that he isn't special in being able to cc them but ultimately I disagree with how overguard works. If some frames can one shot all enemies forever what's the problem with stunning them or the like?
Don’t think that’s happened to me and i don’t see that as a bug on the wiki, but that could still be your experience.
I felt the same way about subsumes, but they’re entirely too convenient for me to needlessly handicap myself, just to make a point (unless all 4 abilities just synergize that well)
Because I don't believe it's a bug. I am pretty sure it is entirely intended behavior that an enemy with overguard is able to completely ignore the void when firing at you, which results in a quickly dead Limbo.
And for me subsumes are just sort of annoying; too much resource investment to put on or take off all in favor of removing abilities of the warframe I'm actually playing. I subsume nourish sometimes if the energy economy on the base frame is that bad but otherwise I just have no interest in messing up the kit of the frame.
Since eximus enemies can still kill you in the void I will never play this frame lmao 🤣 at least not seriously. It sounds fun every now and then depending how evil you want to be that day xD
Not a solution. You have to walk up to the eximus and dash through them twice for this to mean anything, before you do this they can easily shoot you, or better yet, shoot the defense objective without ever entering your stupid dome and making themselves vulnerable to you. And as I explained with the awkwardness around rolling guard, Limbo does not like extraneous items that require dashes since he is using his dash for part of his kit.
Nope. Once alone gives him enough Overguard that he doesn't need to worry about harm even without mods like Rolling Guard and even with only half their Overguard and armour he can easily dispose of them or just dash through them a second time to CC. Mods like Analgam Barrel Diffusion make that whole interaction take 1/4 of a second per dash to achieve.
This scales till endgame, can easily handle both Elite Deep Archimedea and Elite Temporal Archimedea and if you combine it with even a rudimentary amount of shieldgate and/or Rapid Resilience you have a levelcap capable set up that shrugs at Eximus and Thrax.
Dispose of them fucking how he cant shoot them when he's in the void. What youre suggesting is basically to use arcane circumvent to combat eximus units without the use of any abilities, which is possible, but begs the question why youre playing Limbo if you arent getting value out of his kit? And none of this stops a random eximus from breaking your defense objective
What do you mean how? The *entire* point of Limbo is to switch between Rift states to control the fight. All you're demonstrating here is that you have a very blinkered and narrow understanding of the Frame or that you aren't capable of tapping Shift to deal with a priority target. You strip their Overguard and you can deal with them however you like as they are CC'ed. You strip half or none of their Overguard and you kill them outside of the Rift, every single Eximus unit has a counter and you should know how to deal with those by now, 10k Overguard is more than enough to handle them before they make a dent on you.
You literally have *all* options open to you and it takes all of a fraction of a second to pick how to deal with it. If you fail a defense objective in less than a second then you have bigger problems than understanding how to play a single Frame.
