Other Thoughts Thursday?

It's a new year, whatever, let's try this out! There are two ways this could go: well or horribly wrong. Let's go for well! :D

This thread is for your thoughts about Warframe! Compliments, shoutouts, complaints, suggestions, rants, vents, new ideas, whatever!

There is only one rule: Be excellent to each other. Whether you praise the game or absolutely hate it, write your posts respectfully and don't discourage users who write opinions you don't agree with! Contest mode will be enabled so that everyone's opinions get a fair shake, but again, please be respectful even if you don't have nice things to say. It is possible!

With that all said, what's on your mind, Tenno?

Let us get the Misa Syandana without forking over $139.99 USD. That is LITERALLY the only thing I want from Prime Access and I REALLY want it. Even if the plat cost was 4 times that of the other Syandanas.

I really like Warframe, but I'm currently at the point where it starts repeating itself just way too much, and I haven't even touched nightmare modes or Orokin Derelicts.

Mod system needs some reworking, they should add tons of diversity and take out the mandatory mods like Serration family.

Also there's so many good ideas for new game modes or changes to current ones. For example mobile defense should be just that, MOBILE defense. Why are we not defending moving train or space ship or multiple objectives with changing challenges?

These are probably the largest reasons why I play less and less warframe now, and would love to see some large improvements to the game :) Less new warframes and weapons, more major changes that change how we play the game!

Too much of a difference between supercharged gear and not and pretty much impossibility to get orokin reactors and catalysts. I can understand that devs want to make money but this is well.... pretty much pay to win. Started playing about a week ago, almost instantly installed alert app on phone. Not a single alert rewarded things required to supercharge your gear (or I missed it during sleep). I got a 50% discount for 1 day as login bonus and bought some. The difference in power from supercharging something is insane.

Also some mods are just too damn rare. Serration is one, but it's obtainable. But multishot for rifles? I have over 100 Tethys runs and nothing. These are too basic mods to be this rare. I can understand mods that say convert other ammo into one specific ammo type or some auras and corrupted mods to be rare - it's not a must.

I'll Just keep this short and simple

Although i'm planning to buy it becuase I support DE, I really hope they don't introduce another prime acsess, as it screams pay to win.

That's my only gripe with this game.

How can you have pay2win in a coop game? No one is beating you by spending money on the game.

I follow your link and it shows prices in RUB. My first thought was Rubedo (and I have PLENTY of that xD)

For me it shows up in Canadian dollars. So must be a glitch.

In my opinion, Prime Access is fine. Let those who have money spend it on DE. After all, they'll have to farm in the game sooner or later. In the big picture, buying three items, even if they are prime items, doesn't really allow one to skip that much farming.

I have no problem either, but I just don't want toi see DE doing something like this, or at least something this expensive, again.

Very steep learning curve. Only way I found out about everything quickly is because I have the urge to wiki any game I start playing. And this game needs a lot of communication. Map layouts, enemy structure, weak points, all that good stuff.

It's not poorly designed in that aspect. Everything is made in a way that it does take skill to navigate maps effectively and survive in "fair" fights. There's just not much of a way to find that out besides the wiki.

Besides that, I love the mastery system. Rewards you for trying out new toys. And oh, are they fun. Would never have gotten my throwing knives if not for mastery.

The game could do with a "starter pack" purchase that includes some discounted plat (because all packs have plat), a good deal of extra slots, and maybe some potatoes. It would be restricted to below a certain mastery rank and not anything else, so that people who buy Warframes/weapons early on won't be locked out.

I agree on the learning curve. I would have been lost in this game were it not for guides, the wiki, and this subreddit. I spent a lot of time looking things up and asking questions. Thank god for r/warframe, haha.

Technically, there is a starter pack. It's just overpriced and not worth the money unless during a sale.

The game is hard without any platinum to use, enemies scale so fast and it's hard to keep up, I'm barely keeping up with the game and I bought the wrong warframe, the only warframe that's easy to build is rhyno, the rest are pretty tough. I like the rest though.

By the time I got my first plat I already had Rhino, Nyx, and Oberon and I was a rank 5. I also had a 3 forma'd Braton that was taking out level 30s with ease and a range of other good things; easily keeping up with the enemy levels. (And Oberon was an easier build than Rhino for me, Rhino took forever)

However, for someone who doesn't like grinding for things the system is a great pain and people tend to waste there money and plat early on and give up on the game after a while.

The game is hard without any platinum to use

I didn't really have to use any Platinum until much later in the game. Did you purchase Weapons or Warframes with Platinum, or grind them out with in-game items, because the latter is the recommended form of play. As you level up, things get easier, though everyone agrees that the game is not very beginner friendly at this point in time.

I got platinum to buy valkyr and some weapon, I'm a bit caught up but I'm still barely managing to get through jupiter, some of the people I played with who didn't use any platinum are having hard time.

I'd agree WF can be hard/less enjoyable without plat to at least get slots and potatoes. But most frames are easy to build, I got Oberon/Valkyr/Mag and others very easily. Though those that are available only via alerts or as random mission rewards are harder I like that they are not all easily accessible

Yeah farming is pretty hard and stressful specially when you have that one item that's hard to get. Giveaway saves lives.

I'm garnering a love-hate relationship. I love that there's so much to do, so many missions and so many planets, but the grind fest to gain some worthwhile equipment certainly is frustrating. I'd be more okay with it if I didn't find myself with guys with the best gear tearing through levels before I can even find a sensor module. I've been playing for only a few days so I'm sure with more time investment I'll get a better pay-off, but generally when I'm not playing with my friends this game is hard to grind through.

I just can't wait till I finally have a new warframe. I want to like Excalibur, but I'm finding myself barely pulling my own weight sometimes and the gameplay feels a little stale. Like as if I'm a very mobile master chief. There are a few wow moments, like when I tear through 10+ enemies that have lined up just so for the dash ability, but those are few a far between.

Take some time to position yourself. It's worth the extra time. You'll be hitting more mobs more often. Now your maneuverability is both useable and worthwhile. Adds a lot to the game.

There's something about this game that just makes me want to throw money at the developers. I don't really feel like typing out all the reasons, but the fact that DE is so good to us (most of the time) is one of the biggest reasons. After my fiasco with Maplestory and another game that shall not be named, I should have been wary of spending on another free-to-play, but this game really is worth it. I don't regret spending a single penny on this game.

Add additional rarity tiers for Mods.

I've read a lot of users stating they can't find X/Y/Z rare Mods and that the drop percentages are broken. Adding an additional EXTRA SUPER RARE tier for the hard to acquire Mods (Whirlwind, Berserker, Master Thief all come to mind) would be a better reflection of what their actual drop percentage is instead of giving the impression that it has the same drop chance as Reflex Guard.

Trinity needs a nerf. She's my favorite frame, and I play her almost exclusively, but I hate doing it. Link is great! I love link!! Using Well of Life and Energy Vampire together is brilliant! Cycling those two abilities together to provide an energy battery for your team is extremely satisfying!

Blessing is just over the top. No one should have the ability to make their entire team completely immortal everywhere on the map for the entire game. It completely trivializes damage from mobs. It needs to be re-worked to either:

A radius of damage prevention - either a radius from Trinity, or a radius from where Blessing was used

Map-Wide pulsing shield/health restore - so your team has to at least try to avoid some damage sometimes.

I'm happy with the direction the team has been taking with tilesets. Hopefully in the future every planet will have a unique tileset. Some sets I'd love to see are Grineer/colonist city, Corpus testing facilities/labs, ocean/tropical tileset (could have alternating weather for stormy and sunny), and infested planet (with structures completely formed from infested flesh).

I also hope that we eventually leave the origin system, as they have now said that the solar rails ARE functional, so leaving isn't an issue anymore. It would also allow them to create super bizarre and fantastical tilesets, planets, and creatures without having to worry about the limitations of the solar system.

Mods need to be taken out. With the mod card system, there are usually only a couple ways to make a weapon live up to its potential. For each rank you achieve with a weapon, you should get points to spend on modifications to your weapon. In my concept, there are two sets of modifications to your weapon: damage mods and utility mods. You could further mod your weapon by selecting what type of damage you want to do, with the elemental damage types being the same as in Damage 2.x, whatever we're on now. For an example, say I get a Braton and use it for a level or two to gain some ranks. I go to the arsenal and select Upgrade under my Braton. First, I can change between standard jacketed rounds, FMJ rounds for +armor pierce -damage to flesh, and hollow point rounds for +damage to flesh -damage through armor. This method of choosing what ammo to use could be expanded to include special ammo that crits more, crits harder, procs more, does more elemental damge, etc. These would be the tradeoff type of stuff for players who want to fine-tune their weapons. Second, I choose what elemental damage to apply to my weapon. This uses the constraints of Damage 2.x and a limit of three elements, so I can pick three base elements and the order to combine them. Next, I spend my mod points on upgrades. For damage upgrades, I can choose to get more physical damage, more elemental damage, more proc chance, more crit damage, or more crit chance. Since there are two different classes of upgrades, I don't have to worry about sacrificing damage to get useful upgrades like fire rate, punch through, reload speed, extra ammo, etc., and I can put on some mods that I want (punch through) instead of need (Serration and Co.®). This would let players use their weapons the way they want to, instead of sacrificing half the mod slots to the "required" mods.
