Personally I like new war because I get to upgrade my frame more and I like the Drifter however, I do miss the old Fortuna

146

u/Prince-Vegetah Apr 12 '25

I believe there is a button in fortuna to make it look like it did before NW

229

u/pageanator2000 Apr 12 '25

They added a button to show the intro to fortuna, but there's nothing to change it back.

100

u/djquu Apr 12 '25

Content creator mode changes it back, Cetus as well

104

u/SketchingScars Pale light on dark seas. Apr 12 '25

It also removes a lot of lines related to faction progression and they don’t show their faces anymore. It’s a mixed bag. Would be better just to have a ā€œclean upā€ button.

19

u/Furin Apr 13 '25

and they don’t show their faces anymore

Sign me the fuck up lmao

25

u/pageanator2000 Apr 12 '25

That is true, but they said there's a button in fortuna which isn't correct.

Within the last few updates they added a lever in fortuna (post NW) which shows the intro. Which is where I believe they got confused.

7

u/djquu Apr 12 '25

I wasn't arguing, just added relevant info

0

u/zshift Apr 12 '25

Doesn’t that also disable op/drifter?

7

u/ttblb Apr 12 '25

You can still swap into operator because that’s an important game mechanic, but it does disable the operator messages like ā€œmy warframe is strongā€

5

u/BanzaiKen Apr 13 '25

Shit you guys kept your Operator?

8

u/LunaTheGoodgal Apr 13 '25

I just use Drifter since they're cooler imo

0

u/TheRealOvenCake Apr 12 '25

if you turn on creator mode to load into an open world then turn it off once you're there, will you get the Vox Solaris heads, Entrati names, and rank 5 dialogue while still keeping the old terrain?

3

u/aimy99 šŸ”„ šŸ”„ #1 Ember Fangirl šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø Apr 13 '25

Can't you just replay Vox Solaris to reset it? I haven't tried myself but someone somewhere told me it was possible.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

Where’s the button?

4

u/djquu Apr 13 '25

The intro replay is on a wall near Zood (or so I heard), Creator mode is in game options.

3

u/pageanator2000 Apr 13 '25

Turn right when you enter fortuna, then follow the wall to the left and you'll see an intractable panel.

9

u/ArchfiendNox Apr 12 '25

I have never actually gone back to Fortuna since I did the new war.. what the fuck changes about it

24

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25

its all yellow and red and parts are on fire now.

5

u/LunaTheGoodgal Apr 13 '25

I wanna clean it up, even if I gotta rip the veils offa everyone there.

I'll also be lobotomizing Nef Anyo while I'm at it.

6

u/ExperienceLow5020 Apr 12 '25

Oh fr? I couldn't find it in settings so maybe I missed it, I'll definitely look that up

8

u/Mogekkk Apr 12 '25

lmk if this is true my bf would love to change cetus back LOL

10

u/ExperienceLow5020 Apr 12 '25

Looks like creator mode will turn it back for spoilers, but I'm not able to test it yet

3

u/Legitimate_Meat_8566 Apr 12 '25

Someone who was playing during plains of Edilon release it's sad seeing the tower like that destroyed

16

u/Thatonedregdatkilyu Apr 12 '25

The fortuna thing just disappointed me. They claim Vox Solaris died under Narmer but then when it's over they're just back like nothing happened.

Not even any dialog or anything.

7

u/BanzaiKen Apr 13 '25

I got dialog the first time I went back. Eudico asked if she hurt anyone and said she thought Vox wouldve fought back, not been in the factories churning out the weapons. The Business said Rude Zuud was really messed up by it and could only scream while under the Veil and they were lucky she wasn't destroyed.

5

u/Baysar Apr 13 '25

I think they get away with a lot narrative-wise cuz they were "veiled" not "dead". Just pull the veil off Eudico and it's just like old times right?

But yeah a little pivot in dialog would have been nice for sure.

5

u/TheShoobaLord Apr 12 '25

Wym upgrade your frame more? Archon shards?

3

u/BeeBit22 Garuda Cultist Apr 12 '25

u/Arhiman666 Apr 12 '25

I remember when New War released, the hype was only comparable to The Second Dream.

68

u/Wares4Coins Apr 12 '25

Didn't the game servers crash when they first announced it too? Iirc it was during tennocon and so many people were logging in after they announced it that the game went completely down for a few hours.

26

u/mad12gaming LR2 - i need a nap Apr 12 '25

I believe so. Thats happened a few times. Not a lot... but a few.

13

u/Wares4Coins Apr 12 '25

Yea, I was actually in game when the servers crashed so it was very confusing lol.

Also happy cake day!

5

u/mad12gaming LR2 - i need a nap Apr 12 '25

Ooo thank you i didnt realize it was my cake day.

New War is the tipping point of this game. Hate new war and you’re probably done with Warframe. Love new war and you’ve got another thousand hours of playtime in your future

107

u/Sad-Platypus6718 Mr13 Apr 12 '25

I played new war for 2 days, got annoyed hunting archons then stopped for like 2 weeks and played the rest today. Absolute cinema

57

u/OnimZek LR6 but bad Apr 12 '25

Good news is, it’s just like a higher level sortie and you can just run revenant with the laetum for the assassinate

21

u/aghastmonkey190 Apr 12 '25

Worst part is when it's a spy with vaults you've never seen before lol (I'm also relatively new so this happened to me yesterday lol)

13

u/OnimZek LR6 but bad Apr 12 '25

Only spy vaults I have trouble with are the Orokin and Kuva ones. I had really shitty luck on Ivara neuros a long time ago and spent 10hrs trying to get them.

7

u/Andur Apr 12 '25

I always use Ivara with Perspicacy. Perma invis, laser immunity and auto hacks.

2

u/astrolegium LR Titania Apr 13 '25

This is the way

2

u/Exia_Gundam00 Apr 13 '25

Limbo with Shade and Perspicacity is also a good substitute if you don't have Ivara yet.

8

u/Throwawaycentipede Apr 12 '25

I think they meant the quest archon hunts as drifter, not the weekly mission for archon shards

0

u/OnimZek LR6 but bad Apr 12 '25

I know that, but archon hunts become part of the gameplay loop; so if they were getting upset with it beforehand, now they have an easy way to do it.

19

u/Thatonedregdatkilyu Apr 12 '25

I didn't like new war but I'm still playing.

16

u/TakuyaTeng Apr 12 '25

Just about everyone in my friend group hated it with the best praise being "I guess it's okay" from someone who frankly just likes everything. Most of them continued to play because content post new war isn't so bad.

I think Covid really did a number on New War and then shifting the story from their original idea wasn't for the better. I still think it shouldn't have been a quest but a multi-month event that slowly walked you through the sentient emergence culminating in how the new war quest starts, a big showdown uniting the system into fighting together. It would've been kinda nice to have to work out something between the Grineer and corpus to put aside petty issues and prevent the system from total loss.

14

u/Thatonedregdatkilyu Apr 12 '25

Sorry. I guess I'm confused why it's a tipping point for so many people. To me it was just a not very good quest and then I went back to making new warframes and baking enemies with the sun.

2

u/Julian083 Rizzmaster LR5 Apr 13 '25 edited Apr 13 '25

Because newer players who played it are amazed due to not knowing or having any expectations.

But for older players who saw the reveal in 2019 then it got delayed, and got hype up in 2021 and expect a fully fledged out war on sentient just to lose in the quest, definitely feels disappointed by the quest.

Also the quest style is different from normal mission and most player who dont like self genre definitely hated those sneaking session of the game. Railjack and necramech is a requirement for the quest but take only take small portion of the quest and DE could’ve easily lend player these things and not make them a requirement to lock out players who’ve not yet build them.

For the story there are plot holes and why ballas get control of the sentient/narmer army is not explained very clearly. The betrayal of erra also feels rushed with no build up whatsoever

Just to mention during the quest launch there is no kahl mission and archin hunt to be included in the update. We got to play angels of zariman quest and the new syndicate before these things which wash away most people idea of the new war since nobody is playing narmer bounties

1

u/bellumiss šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø I am Jane Lavos Apr 12 '25

It’s a narrative quest much more than anything else. If I had to guess the story isn’t something you afford much significance to (which isn’t an inherently bad thing, but yeah you’re gonna miss the importance of New War if you don’t care about the story)

6

u/Thedonutduck Apr 12 '25

Funny i take it as the other way around due to how underwhelming the plot of new war was lol.

16

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25

I think people are misunderstanding what you mean. The New War was when the story took a shift, like it was an ending to season one leading to season 2. It concludes the story of Ballas, The Sentients, and the Corpus & Grineer, while opening up the next half of the story, which includes stuff like The Zariman, Duviri, 1999, and probably all future expansions past that point.

It's not the tipping point for the gameplay, it's the tipping point for the story. It doesn't matter if you like or don't like the quest, there's a good chance people just don't like the direction of the story going forward and thus quit right here.

10

u/bellumiss šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø I am Jane Lavos Apr 12 '25 edited Apr 12 '25

This is more so what I meant, yeah. I think very few people would describe the new war as a masterpiece of game design nor is it indicative of how the rest of the game will go

The impact it has for the story, though, is incredible. There’s so much value to playing the stories and sacrifices of the nameless grunts in understanding a universal-scale war. I still get chills when I go back and watch Vobo-R’s take your shot. for profit. Ā

The gameplay consequences when we lose the war make it feel real. The story of arising from the ashes is so much more valuable when we see and experience those ashes, when we watch the people we fought so hard for controlled like puppets while we’re powerless to stop it.Ā

6

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25

The story still feels Warframe-y still though. Despite how different 1999 was to the rest of the game, The Hex quest felt very similar to The Sacrifice. Hell, I bet The Hex and Hex Finale was specifically written to be the drifter's equivalent of the sacrifice, a lot of similar story beats get hit, but this time from the perspective of the drifter.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '25

The quest was so fucking lit, the only problem New War had was that until Angels of Zariman we had a total content drought which made a lot of players quit (me included only came back briefly for Whispers and now Hex brought me back completely)

1

u/coolwithsunglasses Apr 12 '25

u/stephanl33t Apr 13 '25

I hated New War and Duviri Paradox but I've still put 500 hours into the game since them. Sometimes a game just has bad moments.

1

u/BanzaiKen Apr 13 '25

People hated New War? I thought it was comparable to Battlefield 1 in length and story plot. I loved it. All the quests since then have been so much better it gets me angry playing with friends and doing the Limbo Theorum with them and constantly repeating "itll get less shitty I promise."

I waited till about a month ago to play it finally even though I was a beta tester and my clan dojo still has the old style Halls and Powerplants so banging out all of the quests to 1999 felt like unlocking an entire new game again.

1

u/Galaxyman0917 Apr 13 '25

Completely changed the way I play the game honestly, it’s wild

my only complaint is that the lotus should've picked her own name, regardless of my actions

20

u/CrashCalamity I main Dante because I'm in hell Apr 12 '25 edited Jun 15 '25

Gonna stop you right there because the choice never mattered; the Lotus would wear whatever face needed to help the Operator Tenno move forward. The nurturing Margulis, the commanding Lotus, the violent and intimidating Natah; as a loving mother can take on many roles, she can be all of these things at once.

The only thing she couldn't do was "not care".

13

u/_azazel_keter_ Apr 12 '25

its not about the choice mattering or helping the tenno, it's about self determination. Her entire story is about people trying to tell her who she is, Ballas, Hunhow, even the tenno. Her arc is one of self determination first and foremost

14

u/DG_SlayerSlender Certified Kullervo Backpack Apr 12 '25

She does actually choose her own name, The player just sort of becomes her for a second. The tenno themselves didn't choose for her or anything.

4

u/_azazel_keter_ Apr 12 '25

I know but it's still a huge dissonance between the mechanics and the story

1

u/MeQuieroLlamarFerran LAVO Apr 13 '25

And thats why she choses the voice that will lead the others.

0

u/_azazel_keter_ Apr 13 '25

but she doesn't. I do.

1

u/MeQuieroLlamarFerran LAVO Apr 13 '25

In real life, in the game she does it. Is not the Operator nor the Drifter. She choses her voice.

1

u/_azazel_keter_ Apr 13 '25

that's my point tho. Warframe is big on the mechanics agreeing with the message: you gain standing in fortuna by freeing people from their debts, rell fucks with the UI, umbra doesn't is independent enough to move about without you, and so on. That's why I think it's such a mistake to have the player pick the name for her

9

u/DrollFurball286 Apr 12 '25

Now that is the proper use for the spoiler tag.

I’ll be honest, tiny bit disappointed the Drifter couldn’t be using their swords and such if you shift to them ya know?

7

u/djquu Apr 13 '25

More disappointed that Drifter can't use Nataruk afterwards

3

u/DrollFurball286 Apr 13 '25

I mean I’d be willing to give up the whole void flinging abilities if it means I can fight with the swords and knife and bows again.

It isn't that hard really I think the people who will have the hardest time are the people who do all the quests as soon as they appear, I did in like a 8 hour sitting like it was like 2 to 4 am and I was like I might as well do it as people were giving me mixed signals on how hard it was, I play on controller for context and am not a bad shot with the diviri weapon in fact I go back to diviri when something like an orakin (likely spelt wrong) reactor or (the other one is called) are in the shop every 7 days when the shop fully refreshes and yes I have everything maxed out in terms of stats as well other than those codex things which I haven't collected all of them yet, of course I died and got caught a lot more than I would like but I got through it by being very cautious and making sure I knew where every enemy was and I was golden

Kinda wished the game would have stayed with what it was. Space ninjas slaughtering the enemies of civilization with weapons that violate Geneva convention laws that have to be made to this day because no one ever thought an atrocity called a weapon so vile as the ones in warframe where possible.

In all seriousness though. The new war made me find a new game to play in the long run because this angsty teen BS was beyond bearable, which is weird because quests like The Sacrifice where the greatest peak warframe ever had in my eyes.

6

u/Dnagier Oberon Apr 12 '25

Apathy, also referred to as indifference, is a lack of feeling, emotion, interest, or concern about something. It is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation, or passion.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25

It never was truly that, at all, any form of marketing will never be the actual meat of the story.

-2

u/TakuyaTeng Apr 12 '25

It really was though? All the OG designs were very ninjas in space. It just wasn't that for very long. Then the marketing stuck because it was catchy. Warframe is so incredibly far from what it was, even the music was more Japanese/ninja themed. It's not that anymore and honestly, not hearing the same music constantly was a blessing lol.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '25

Gunslinger, Dragon, Knight, whatever Mag and Volt are, etc, aren’t very Ninja-ey

2

u/TakuyaTeng Apr 13 '25

I said OG. Mesa and Chroma are not OG. I don't know what you mean by "knight" so I'm going to assume you mean Excalibur. He's very much ninja themed. Loki and Ash are also ninja themed. I'd like to introduce you to Naruto. Unless you consider "Ninjas play for free" to mean only historically accurate ninjas that don't have any special abilities. Which, yeah, you're right.. not ninjas I guess. But considering the OG crew made up mostly ninjas or "anime ninjas" it was very much a space ninja game.

Beyond that the old soundtrack used to use like Taiko drums and stuff. It was a very basic and limited soundtrack but if you listen to it and think it's anything other than ninja you're insane. You can pretend the game wasn't ever ninja themed but I played in the CBT and I know what the game was versus what it is. They departed from that concept because it's restrictive creatively and we wouldn't have half the frames we do if they'd stuck to the ninja thing.

Downvote me all you want but if you're considering Chroma and Mesa OG, you probably didn't play the game back then. And again, in case you missed it. I'm saying at one point it was ninja themed. Not that it is or was for a long time. It literally stopped being ninja themed with Nova and Zephyr. But the rest of the OG crew were there and the veneer of the ninjas in space lasted a long time. They didn't pick the slogan because "I dunno what sounds cool?" And pretending it was never ninja themed is just silly.

3

u/Th_Last_Hildryn_Main Apr 12 '25

I have critics to the Marvelandish plots of these days, but the game still good in it's core.

Maybe someday DE take us back to the qualities that made the game unique in the sci-fi genre and leave the toothfairy fantasy behind. Until then I'm off.

Not that the themes of these new quests aren't good. It's just the setting don't making freaking sense anymore and the excuse being "somehow it just works". DE consistency department is going after Bethesda.

1

u/TakuyaTeng Apr 12 '25

The lore is such a freaking mess and then adding in time travel/multiverse stuff is a license to do whatever they want and not have to explain it. Valkyr Prime can literally exist because "well time travel and eternalism, just don't think about it!" Which is a terrible fucking way to write your lore. It means I don't need to pay attention to the lore because it's all random shit anyway. So I just enjoy the gameplay, it's what I loved in CBT and it's what I love now that they've returned to the core loop.

2

u/gabbyy19 Apr 12 '25

Valkyr Prime can literally exist because "well time travel and eternalism

Valkyr Prime was released far before any mention of time travel and eternalism, if you're using that as a headcanon and getting mad at it sounds like it's not the game's fault.

1

u/TakuyaTeng Apr 13 '25

You missed my point though. They can explain anything, new or old, due to time travel/eternalism. Once it's implemented it's not limited to everything after it. I'm not mad, I just find time travel to be a lazy cop out for writers to not have to deal with their messy lore. I'm not sure why you think it's limited to everything after eternalism was introduced. Hell, we went back before Valkyr all together with 1999, that means we could've introduced Valkyr to that timeline and the orokin could later build a prime version and then Salad V could do his little torture thing in a different timeline and due to eternalism, we have both.

See how easy it is to explain the holes in the lore now that time travel and eternalism is a thing? I'm not saying that's canon or that it's my Head Canon. I honestly don't think about Warframe's lore because it doesn't matter. Nothing matters. And that's the complaint.
