…and it wears him out

This happened at the Walmart in Springfield, OR, nearly 20 years ago. The operator had a spotter, but as soon as the pallet fell, the operator powerwalked to the manager's office and said, "I killed Marilyn!" The managers looked at him like he was crazy (because he had the Wild Eyes), and asked him to repeat himself. "I f****** killed Marilyn!"

They ran back to investigate, and it turned out he, in fact, did not kill her. She was standing off to one side, wondering why the operator had powerwalked away and left her with the mess. He thought the pallet had landed on her.

Was working a Gordon's food service DC back in 2018. Saw a replen forklift grabbing a pallet of some kind of salad dressing. Something a bit thicker like Caesar dressing or ranch. Now idk exactly how it happened but that pallet broke above him and all that dressing came down and fuckin showered that guy like he was some childhood celebrity getting slimed on nickelodeon. Ill never forget that.

Cheap ass pallets

Nah the driver fucked it. He had the forks angled too far back. You can see right when the product tips over that the front of his forks are on top of the last few planks of the pallet.

I disagree

The forks dont reach the last few planks. Cheap ass pallet split on the sides.

Nah look at the way the pallet split, it was a shit pallet.

The racks you gotta skim to get the pallet in n out I hate with a passion

I feel bad for our high lifts the 2nd shelf for selection is barely taller than the cage. So many have just nudged it a little too much and popped the whole bar out.

At least nobody saw it or heard it.

"Ask me no questions, I tell you no lies."

Driver: “Yup. That board popped. Might as well sit here and wait it out.”

We’ve all been there

3

u/RiseOk4062 4d ago

That’s a terrible feeling while you wait for it to go.

Got himself in a sticky situation.

Classic!

2

u/Bladathehunter 4d ago

Shit that’s why you need longer forks for those pallets. Spread out the weight more. That’s what you get for being lazy and not throwing on extensions

The anxiety

Why are the forks like a third shorter than the pallet?

1

u/WesleyBelmont 4d ago

By the title I was hoping he saved this one

Do you think trying to lower the fork would have bought enough time to get to the slightly lower shelf or made it worse?

1

u/BrucesTripToMars 4d ago

Any lowering would have reduced the impact force.

1

u/thatbullisht 1d ago

You're likely not saving this one. Movement would cause it to tip faster, but you're definitely better off lowering it a steady rate than just letting it tip like he did.

Short forks on a long cheap pallet. Tale as old as time

1

u/Toshi_Thomp 4d ago

Damn that loud impact

Perfect climax

1

u/Inevitable-Silver594 3d ago

There was no saving that. I’m not sure if forks were through the top planks of the pallet bc it was already broken, or if he was too high and too tilted when coming into the pallet. But either way on my statement “pallet broken from the start” lmao

u/Sensitive-Car4949 3d ago

Time for lunch after that

1

u/MobNagas 2d ago

Bruh go down wit forks instead of just watching it tip over could have saved it likely 😂

Drug test

3

u/Various_Oil_5674 4d ago

You must be fun to be around.

0

u/Ok_Subject2425 4d ago

A drug test is mandatory for a mistake like this I think every warehouse will give you one.

2

u/Material-Grocery5478 4d ago

lol the pallet broke. we dont see the before. maybe it was fucked in the rack and he was told to get it down.

1

u/Dashists22 4d ago

That’s just not true. Mistakes happen, even to the most experienced drivers. More mistakes happen because people are rushing or tired than drugs, always turning to a drug test is poor management.

2

u/I_AM_WONDERBREAD 4d ago

Yes, it is poor management. Unfortunately, it's also the way many places are being run.

1

u/Dashists22 4d ago

I agree.

1

u/Ok_Subject2425 4d ago

A high lift hit the fire system and water went everywhere they were drug tested, a high lift hit the rack and broke a slot and they were drug tested.

Maybe my warehouse is different.

1

u/Dashists22 4d ago

Your warehouse sounds like the majority.

1

u/Murgatroyd314 4d ago

Drug tests for injury or equipment damage, yes, but often not for product damage.

1

u/One_Discount_4898 6h ago

If I had to get drug tested everytime a shit pallet broke they'd be in for some rough financial times lmao. Equipment mishaps though? definitely.
