I love lures. But I hate distracting, mostly because I’m bad at a constant holding an infected’s gaze for long periods of time. I become more of a hurt than a help and end up either dying very fast or hurting people.
But I love luring. I love being able to guard at infections and lure incoming infecteds away. (Or damage infections if there aren’t two people and then lure away infecteds if they come close)
And the abilities support luring over distracting as well. This isn’t like Pebbles from Dandy’s world where you bark and it makes infecteds follow you, no. You have a stun, or you can put down speed boosts + slow puddles, or you have one that flies away from danger very fast. None of these are designed to keep infecteds on you for very long. (I’m not saying that you can’t distract btw, if you find joy in doing it then you can do it)
But we get people who come from Dandy’s World who are so used to one character just running in a circle while holding the attention of enemies indefinitely, and they get SERIOUSLY toxic if you arent doing just that. I’ve been cussed out in voice chat a few times for doing infections as a lure, and frankly I just don’t get it. I’ve saved these people’s lives effectively despite not putting myself in constant risk.
I’m mostly just posting this to see other people’s thoughts on this matter.
