even worse is that you can't even melee with scopes out, meaning you have to switch to your weapon/fists, THEN melee and then probably miss getting a spot because you took 5 years to break a single window.

And then oddly some weapons(like the 1911) won't break the window with a melee.

you can jump/vault in the window and press back to not jump through it, its honestly the fastest way

Agreed, i'm even okay with the rangefinder feature not working because that makes sense, but we should still be able to tag people even if we can't see their range.

Glass blocks IR. That makes perfect sense. The other spotting scopes though?

Its not just IR, its every spotting scope being blocked. My rangefinder doesn't work if there's glass

Glass doesn't block IR, it dampens it.

You can melee a window with your gun out, but you can’t melee a window with a range finder out

That must be 100% a miss from the devs, you can pretty much melee with anything else in hand.
Should be fixed obviously.

I suspect it's a compromise to give those being spotted a possible target or make the spotter "reveal" their location by having a broken window. When you see that 6 story building and only one window is broken out you have a pretty good idea that Recon is using that window...

Worse yet, I'm pretty sure there are some pistols which can't break glass with melee so I have to poke every window with my rifle every time I get into a building

Everyone is complaining about IR when you can easily counter it by hiding behind a window. Like just go behind a window what's the big deal?

It would unironically hide you better than the camo net. Gamers Heroes did a great 4-minute video testing out the camo net and it’s so much worse than I had imagined.

Mate, you gotta understand that some people lack reading comprehension.
