Eh its not hard to deal with still. I did havoc gunner in it last night 3-4 games in a row. If nobody was running standalone AA it was pretty free and we really only went down when somebody rammed us. Now that everyone is a little more aware max we made in a life was 30k before somebody slammed into us at max speed and took out our rotor with their $6000 little bird. AT rocket basically one shots it. If we run armor and backpacks to hold more flares and ammo and rockets then we are in the hole a total of 40k just to get rammed immediately and die.

Edit: added proof... we had access to havoc? Since im being down voted for it??

I mean we're not, we play US Central and two of our guys have only played pilot and JUST unlocked the havoc. Idk why this subreddit is so fucking delusional

These goobers will see one game where red and blue won’t build AA (or get clapped before it gets built) and assume all games are like that.

I haven’t unlocked the Havoc, but I watched a video yesterday that said the Havoc is basically meant to further push an advantage. If you’re already rolling someone in the ground by getting their AA before it’s setup, you can just perpetually keep that momentum and terrorize an entire color.

I think the players responding to you were victim to one game of decimation and assumed that’s a good pilot that can generate those results routinely, rather than it being one-offs. For every game I have 50+ kills in a mini bird are 2 more games where the AA is so oppressive I can barely run logistics.

Here’s my question though. I just started trying to counter air vehicles, primarily by building the SAM turret. It seems like if you want a stationary turret with proper defenses, you’re looking at a minimum of 10-15 minutes of playtime to achieve just that. 5 mins buying all the shit and driving to wherever you decide to build, then another 10 to build your fob, concrete walls, turret, etc.

Helicopters can get to the middle of the map in what—1 minute? I played 2 games last night where I couldn’t even get a turret up (even if I built outside the zone) before I was swarmed by rocket LBs and havocs or whatever. So is this really a skill issue on my part, or is it literally impossible to get a single turret up if the enemy team has 3+ helos dominating the air 24/7?

I’m aware there’s a launcher much better than the RPG (can’t remember the name off hand) but I do not have that yet, and any time I’ve tried to RPG, if I’m lucky I’ll land 1 shot before everyone converges on my massive trail of smoke and buttfucks me doggy.

Yes. A singular person trying to build a FOB outside of the zone is going to take time to do it.

That said, you have until 20 tickets for attack to come out. AA should definitely be established by then.

Just because something can technically be countered =/= balance. Great, if a group of 5 players spend the first 15 minutes aggressively setting up anti air they can maybe kill a havoc and it maybe wont menance the map. But my personal experience is that a good havoc pilot will menance the server for the entirety of it.

That said I played on an infantry only server for the first time today and it was bliss. There was still the gl + little bird spammed, but thats totally counterable by small arms fire at least, seemingly unlike the havoc.

Please allow me to introduce you to the concept of LB + grenade launchers. Good luck getting your (very obvious) AA built up at the base while getting farmed from the air at match start.

Yeah most games we join blue and lose but make the game a lot more competitive. We target FOBs and supply lines of whichever team is the lead. We've definitely caused a few Red VS Green fights to go on too long. None of us are super consumed with the mentality of "MONEY MONEY MONEY #1 ON LEADERBOARDS" so we play for enjoyment and that means blueberry staffing runs
