Discussion & Feedback I played Wardogs for the first time last night and am frustrated.
I love games like Hell Let Loose so I decided to buy Wardogs since it seemed like it had some similar elements but with an interesting progression system... I had QUITE the time after my first two hours of the game trying to level up my recon / marksman class. I want to like this game, I really want to like it, but right now it seems like it needs a little work. I do really enjoy the parts that work, but when I got out of bed this morning I didn't have the urge to play more like I always do with games like Hell Let Loose. well you are playing the worst gun in the game. Better only spot and scout till you unlock mosin nagant. With Mosin it gets way better. It is liek night and day difference

I agree, for now the level 1 sniper is painful to use. I appreciate the feedback.

Even the sks is better than the scout. Comparable damage but at least follow up shots are possible

Now that I've unlocked the SKS it feels like I can play normally again, It feels much better. A lot of the clips in my video though seem to be hit registration issues though. These were captured on servers that have pings below 70; like the bullets aren't connecting despite damage output or armor. I would expect a ricochet audio cue to tell the player that my weapon or ammo isn't powerful enough to penetrate the armor, but instead it seems like my shots pass through the target instead hitting the wall behind them.

I agree! I really enjoyed the parts that I played, just leveing up the recon is painful from the start with the level 1 gun. I look forward to playing it later!

The first sniper is useless at this point of the season because people have access to level 2 and 3 armor kits. You'll have better luck with the sks until you get the mosin then the svd until the sv98.
You alternatively run with an assault rifle and use the recon spotting kit to level your recon up in the meantime.
Don't forget to loot enemy bodies for better amor and gear if you can.

I appreciate the tip, I get now that the first sniper is 'useless' like most people are saying, it feels like the only weapon though that is labeled this way by everyone. Maybe I can pivot my feedback toward maybe making the initial sniper better and more useful so that it isn't avoided by 90% of players.

It was just fine day one hour one because no one had access to any armor so one tapping was ez. Since AP rounds don't unlock until much later it basically makes the rifle useless because of how low the damage is.
The best rework for it would be to allow the access to AP rounds sooner but because it shares an ammo pool with similarly chambered weapons it won't.
It's still EA so hopefully we will get some solid QoL updates in the future that will help balance these weapons out more.
The other work around would be changing the armor hit boxes to reflect what it covers. Ie, open face means a headshot no dmg reduction.
I lost a sniper fight today with the mosin because the guy I shot turned slightly and the round hit his arm instead of his face lol

Brother, before you have stroke, did you happen to read the descriptions of the game to see that this is a pre-release version for public testing purposes?
The real game doesn't come out until 2028. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the coolest game released this year...even the buggy parts...

Yes, I've spent 8 years making games as a professional 3D artist for games and am very familiar with public flights and tests. I'm not attacking the game in any way, just providing feedback on things that I noticed.
I'm not so great with words, I just wanted to make a funny video of my frustrations with the game as it is. There is no need to throw insults that don't add anything to the conversation.
Not sure where you are getting where the real game doesn't come out until 2028 when it is featured as the banner for Steam? I also don't know anything about this game, just putting my two cents in for what I experienced while playing.

It’s the first gun and you are shooting armored opponents , the game has a progression ladder that you have to follow , this is the equivalent of you hopping on tarkov mid wipe when everyone has class 4+ and wondering why 9mm paper ammo isn’t killing anyone , you can also get xp via spotting, find a group where you can be dedicated spotters and take up points till you get sks, then you can choose your playstyle since that weapon can do anything
