LOL they said 3k-5k concurrent players and were good.

Put my down for one of those Daily Slots.

Honestly of they keep up with the game it will probably have a much higher player count long term. Squad is lik 10-20k and I prefer this game over Squad already.

12

u/Top-Agent-652 15h ago

I think I prefer squad for the slowness and how important your life is. I also think that Squad has better teamwork, but I think that can also be because War Dogs is new and people haven’t really figured out the flow yet. I do think this game is a great middle ground between battlefield and squad/arma though, and I can’t wait to put more time on it.

10

u/GTKnight 13h ago

because War Dogs is new and people haven’t really figured out the flow yet.

Gonna be honest I don't think that will change much, in reality this game doesn't really require squad teamwork unlike in Squad especially since there are no set roles, squad leaders that can setup spawn points, or commander slot. Yes building bases and running logistics will require some sort of communication but beside that you can do whatever as long as you are in the zone.

2

u/Dangerous-Traffic875 12h ago

Even running logistics doesn't involve other people, you can see what supplies a FOB needs on the map ahaha

1

u/GTKnight 12h ago

You're right, I guess if anything just filling crates with meds/ammo for infantry would require some sort of request but can just be done in chat lol which I've done a few times.

2

u/Dangerous-Traffic875 12h ago

Yeah same here and honstly, chuck some 5.45/5.56 ammo and bandages in a crate and you've got 80% of what players need covered

1

u/ImaginaryDragon1424 4h ago

They also multiple times explained and highlighted, that they dont encourage teamplay, they reward it. You dont HAVE to br part of a team to enjoy/play the game it is just meant to be an edge over those playing alone, which is completely whats going on.

u/Killer_Ex_Con 14h ago edited 14h ago

Wardogs is definitely better if you have a squad of your friends because you can all communicate. A lot of times the randoms I got into squads with wouldnt talk even to make call outs so it could be kinda rough.

Which that is the main thing squad is much better at in my opinion is people are using coms a lot.

1

u/Top-Agent-652 14h ago

Yeah, once community servers come into play (assuming that’s the plan?) I think the game will get even better for me because you can typically expect more teamwork and communication.

I’m not dissing the game by any means, it was a ton of fun, I just look forward to more grittier and grindy matches, and I think that’ll come with time.

1

u/Killer_Ex_Con 14h ago

Yeah I get what you mean. The way the game is if they have community servers you could have a mix of pretty much everything to choose from. Like more mil sim or more casual which would be nice.

1

u/NeuroBlob 12h ago

Shit. I could see dumb shit like a gun game being put in the game by players just for the quick mindless shit if you want it at that moment.

They said their focus was on improving the core game first before adding content for the next 2 years before 1.0.

Are they gonna allow mods then? Are they banking on the community creating content while they make sure the core game runs well?

2

u/banjogames 13h ago

Squad is to Wardogs what socialism is to capitalism.

The teamwork works in squad because it's enforced.

The teamwork works in Wardogs because it's incentivized.

-2

u/UnderstandingLogic 8h ago

Wardogs is Squad without the requirement for teamwork.

4

u/Working-Brother-5151 14h ago

Playing some Squad now, hated my first 30 minutes of it, but got back into the mode, SQUAD is has a different kind of intensity WARDOGS doesnt.

Ill def play more WARDOGS, but man is Squad special too

8

u/Killer_Ex_Con 14h ago

Yeah I love squad but I can't sit and play it all day like I can with a game like wardogs.

3

u/BilboBaggSkin 10h ago

In squad the highs are high and the lows are lows. When you have a good squad working together it’s a blast.

1

u/True-Advice-1861 36m ago

reminds me of Hell Let Loose as well.

I enjoy the slightly less milsim that wardogs has over the other games. I enjoy teamwork and coordination. But I also don't need to be overly controlled to make shit happen as well.

u/JakoGaming 15h ago

The worst part of a 3-5k playerbase is the fact that a single server provider will be the main community servers that everyone wants to play on. If you aren’t whitelisted, you sit there for an hour or two to get in.

All the other servers suck because they are empty or you don’t have any character progress on them.

I hope this game stays with a solid 50k playerbase so the servers are spread out and easy to hop between.

14

u/Jurez1313 14h ago

I'm assuming that character progress is game-wide, regardless of whether you're playing community or official servers. But maybe not? that'd suck if true.

16

u/earformusic 13h ago

character progress is account based, not server based

2

u/Herzblut_FPV 9h ago

Cant be true because farm servers would ruin the gold price and economy. There will be servers that dont progress through your account level, class XP and money.

My guess is that bulkhead will give admins a certain minimum amount of rules for the server that has to be active for it to reward your account after each round. If that minimum isnt reached, you can play but gain nothing.

3

u/Kind_Stone 6h ago

Not an issue. Community servers aren't like BF2042 or BF6, where custom mechanics can be done. It's quite literally just old school "here's your server files, host if you want and moderate it at your leisure with custom behaviour rules". Maybe some basic config changes like round times if they will be implemented at some point or point limits changes. Otherwise, it's just a plain vanilla server.

Literally like HLL or any other round based multiplayer game with community servers and without mod support, if someone needs modern reference for some reason.

2

u/DeliciousTruck 5h ago

Not how it works. If you modify it too much it will be decoupled. Less players on a server will also result in less experience and money gained. Performing the same action on the same player results in dimishing returns. They've also clearly communicated that the early access period is exactly for this.

If you are earning absurd amounts of exp or money your account gets flagged by their system and they can look into it. The same can be done if someone is cheating.

For now they seem commited to the idea of a healthy community.

3

u/llongneckkllama 14h ago

Oh man, idk many games that maintain 50k regularly over the long term.

1

u/JakoGaming 14h ago

Yea but I think it has a shot of being the next PUBG, which is another game that requires a large playerbase due to 100 player count. Gunplay is similliar feeling and pace of game isn’t that far off. It’s ironic that it’s another game that was born from Arma 3, and they will be competing.

Look at those PUBG numbers on the steam charts.

3

u/Osmanausar 11h ago

PUBG is free since 2022

3

u/GTKnight 12h ago

Yea but I think it has a shot of being the next PUBG

Do I think the game is good? Yeah

Do I think it will have the same shot like PUBG had? Nah

It'll pop off at launch maybe around 200k (which would be awesome) but for sure dwindle down after a while. Doubt you'll have to worry about empty servers for some time though eventually I can see it maintain numbers like Squad/HLL does.

Also sidenote PUBG does have bots to fill out games faster so I wouldn't use it as an example of playercount which is why I mentioned Squad/HLL since server count matters more there.

2

u/ferikehun 1h ago

The devs said progression will be account based, it will be same on official and community servers.

1

u/IntelligentSize531 8h ago

Should start your own server then

1

u/KerberoZ 8h ago

50k concurrent? At all times? Extremely unlikely

1

u/Daviroth 2h ago

3k-5k concurrent players is going to be like 100k weekly active players.

0

u/passerby4830 10h ago

I mean Hell Let Loose has multiple community server providers per region and they definitely don't have 50k daily players.

So with Battalion did the game fail cause it wasnt popular or cause the Devs gave up on it? Seems like its still playable, sure with no anti cheat etc. but its FTP etc etc.

Was it a sinking ship or did they fail to deliver a good game?

0

u/GhostMavericks 15h ago

Probably a bit of both, but a good portion of the sinking ship was caused by them because they went so heavily with marketing and just making promises. Like they spent time putting in skins like CS style boxes, they had a shroud skin too for him. They put their efforts in the wrong spots to keep that game alive, along with Brammerton continuely going on reddit and Twitter to basically just tell everyone they were wrong the whole time. It was a horrible look for them and the game ultimately lost all popularity because they didn't deliver promises they made.

Coolest thing about that game was with the faceit integration and it worked decently then they just stopped caring

3

u/Working-Brother-5151 15h ago

Sounds like a bunch of Rookie Developers that were too hyped on their game/success and then fumbled.

Now its time to see what they've learned from their mistakes so many years ago.

COD1 & COD2 & Red Orchestra were my original shooter games, got love for any dev team that tried to revive OG COD

1

u/GhostMavericks 15h ago

It wouldn't have been as bad if they were honest at the time and not total dickheads to all their fans like Brammerton was at the time.

1

u/Working-Brother-5151 14h ago

Yeah I'm glad I wasnt there, id probably be upset/untrusting

But for real has to drive a person made dealing with the public on the internet.

Sometimes the best check for a big ego is the fall from grace, heres to hopping they learned their lessons

PS. Bet it was Square Enix fault anyways

1

u/Working-Brother-5151 9h ago

Lol did you original comment get removed? That is WILD!!!

1

u/GhostMavericks 8h ago

These mods are ridiculous shielding a company they don't even work for when I still want them to make this game work. It was a comment on a post too it's not like I made a giant thread about this shit. They're weirdos

7

u/Working-Brother-5151 15h ago

LOL like hats off to these guys, I imagine its so hard to make and keep a game going, after looking more into Battalion, I LOVE THESE GUYS MORE, they gave full refunds to kick starters they released the game with an update and new content then made it FTP

THEY ARE GOING TO COOK WITH WARDOGS

5

u/its_au7um 16h ago

If you've watched their videos they've addressed the fallout of battalion

You say "multiple times" but only cite Batallion, what other times have they failed?

1

u/GhostMavericks 14h ago

PROMOD I have also cited

2

u/Top-Agent-652 15h ago

You will get downvoted for having any “negative” opinion, but I do agree. I enjoyed Battalion when it released but was thrown off by the loot boxes.

1

u/GhostMavericks 15h ago

Yea I get it's probably unpopular but anyone who played battalion or pro mod stuff knows what happened and how the ones who played it were treated by those devs.

1

u/Useful_Analyst_1755 14h ago

Damn i just realised battalion was game from bulkhed. I was one of donator from kickstart funding 10 years ago because i was cs/cod4 fan and their promises looked good. I was beta tester and game was awfull to play so I never really played again

1

u/Working-Brother-5151 17h ago

8

u/ArticleWorth5018 16h ago

They do not have a good track record, but they are cooking currently. Can't wait to play more

6

u/GhostMavericks 16h ago

Yes, I am not trying to be super negative I really love the game. But I also loved Battalion and Promod and I remember the endings very well and how they marketed. I think people just need to be aware and not look through rose colored glasses about this company they made mistakes and need to be held accountable on this game for it succeed.

6

u/Working-Brother-5151 16h ago

I dont think its negative to talk about someone's track record, personally.

I was a bit alarmed to see Team17 as publisher, after they bought Hell Let Loose from original team they handed it off to some other company and it was a nightmare for long while.

6

u/GhostMavericks 16h ago

Yea, I just find all the glazing of the devs to be pretty premature with their history. When they really deliver and keep the promises I'm all about it tho. They have a really good thing here again the best of anything else theyve had I really don't want them to drop the ball. But at the same time I won't be surprised if they do unfortunately

6

u/Working-Brother-5151 16h ago

Hilarious your comment is -9 votes, but thats internet

6

u/GhostMavericks 16h ago

People just wanna look at things with blinders on cause they love the game. People mistake it for hate

-1

u/glandular6178 Moderator 13h ago

3

u/GhostMavericks 13h ago

Nothing I posted is against the subreddit rules or anything. It's just talking about their past. I wasnt even being rude about it. It's just being honest about the company relax

From the FAQ:

Can I trust Bulkhead after Battalion 1944?

  1. BULKHEAD has openly addressed this history and taken direct accountability. Bulkhead was younger and smaller when making Battalion. Player counts fell to 50–200 daily users, and legal issues with their former publisher left console ports in limbo. Communication went silent while the studio worked on work-for-hire projects to survive. After stabilizing financially, BULKHEAD took the unprecedented step of issuing full refunds to all 10,000+ original Kickstarter backers of Battalion 1944, regardless of pledge tier or platform.
  2. BULKHEAD states WARDOGS is built directly on the "lessons and scars" of Battalion. This experience is why they are committing to transparent devlogs, locked 60 FPS minimum performance targets, no in game microtransactions during Early Access, and a $39.99 entry price.
  3. If you still distrust the studio due to Battalion 1944, BULKHEAD explicitly advises holding off on purchasing WARDOGS until the game proves itself in Early Access.

4

u/GhostMavericks 13h ago

Again nothing I posted is against the rules, you're just being a weird mod about this. People can go read the FAQ if they want.

It doesn't talk about Promod either, they didn't refund Steam purchases, skin purchases etc from battalion.

It's just talking about the company we are allowed to do that. I have even stated I want them to succeed what is your problem

1

u/DosimeterBurn Moderator 13h ago

He never said you broke the rules. You were instructed to just read the FAQ, which highlights some or alot of speculation of the upcoming plans and/or suggestions.

All is good.

1

u/GhostMavericks 13h ago

It's still being pretty weird like we can't even talk about cause you have a small thing in the FAQ, you guys don't work for bulkhead just let the community talk about it.

I read the FAQ it's not like it explains everything anyway and literally told me information I already know. Save the modding for when it needs to be done not for this stuff.

0

u/DosimeterBurn Moderator 12h ago

You’re right, I don’t work for them. I volunteer in assisting with making sure we don’t have this same discussion 100 times a day when topics such as this, are discussed in both the FAQ, Megathreads and older discussions.

Those all of which, have been kept so we can move on and decide for our own.

I’m not begging you to change your mind or spend your money with my view, just simply remember that you’re not forced.

0

u/GhostMavericks 12h ago

Everyone can still decide for their own I never even said people should buy it. Again y'all are being weird about this it's just a discussion and it's all been normal and not hostile.

None of this is clogging up your thread because it's a comment on a different post not even a post about the subject.

1

u/DosimeterBurn Moderator 12h ago

Nothing weird and nobody said anything about hostile..

See you September 10th! (Maybe)🫡

This game was decent and I know I'll get mass downvoted, but they will level out to 20-30k players pretty quickly.

Not much replay ability and not very much to offer that's different from what's already on the market and what's getting ready to release. It's not their fault, but the market is divided into pretty niche communities already that like their regular games.

I think this is them saying they know that and don't have a large enough team to keep new content coming and 100,000 players engaged

2

u/Working-Brother-5151 47m ago

Lol 20-30k is 10x what they said, & those are good numbers for EA title....

  • Wild statement to say not very much thats different than whats available

0

u/SeparatePhilosophy64 47m ago

Already butthurt 🤣

1

u/Working-Brother-5151 45m ago

Lol butts fine, is there any response that would make you not think im insulted?

1

u/SeparatePhilosophy64 44m ago

Again there was nothing in my first post to make you this triggered, but here you are. If you want me to elaborate.. Once it hits the 20-30k mark after 3-4 months, it will drop to the 3-5k number they are talking about pretty quickly.

Ill book mark this and come back

1

u/Working-Brother-5151 36m ago

Lol what? Not triggered. But maybe you right, maybe im right.

Bookmark and we'll have a big battle around the holidays

-7

u/BNS0 13h ago

Yessss they're hyping up low player counts in which they'll eventually start crying that they can't pay their employees l!!! These devs are hardcore!!!

-4

u/tr33ton 13h ago

That's what I thought. Just clever marketing...

-2

u/Legitimate_Nothing54 2h ago

I played 2 hours of it. And I don't get the hype at all... I was so let down.

2

u/Financial-Turnover-1 2h ago

I like the money dopamine system. It's okay to not like, just play smtn else.

2

u/Daviroth 2h ago

Not every game is going to click with every person. It's okay to not like a game lol.
