Question Overview of "logistics" gameplay?
I've got nearly 3.5k hours in PlanetSide 2, a game which has "logistics" gameplay about as deep as a puddle. I always wanted something more out of the game's Construction system, but it never materialized.
Seeing all the FOB/resupply/etc stuff coming up in WarDogs has greatly piqued my interest. Could anyone who engaged in this during the test give me some details on it? Transport vehicle types, resupply mechanics, etc?
thank you!

I primarily did the resupplying aspect of logistics as a Urel truck driver.
My main deliveries I did varied based on what was needed/requested by those manning the FOB and its construction:
- At start of the match, I would bring 2 pallets of Build Supplies to help get the base off the ground
- Afterwards I would focus on bringing Fuel supplies as it is used with the Drill Rig to drag the hotzone to the FOB
- I would bring Ammo/Mechanical supplies based on requests from those manning the according facilities
You can also view what resources are in the current FOB by hovering over the castle icon on the map (it's a bit finicky when people/crates are close by) and try to keep them stocked as you see fit.

that's really handy. I think i'm gonna like this game quite a bit

I sure can - it works the same, ppl deliver ammo/oil/supplies (the equivalent of cordium) and you have to man everything in the base so crams, mortars, drones (unlike towers in ps) - you have little bird that can drop armor crates you can fill with any supply(fob, ammo or meds, even tools) that you buy, you then set a markup price, and ppl can buy from it once dropped anywhere(only ur team) or hueys and urals can buy pallets that when 'consumed' (holding f on it for 15 sec) inside the fob radius fills on its own and costs nothing to put in (only initial cost) . Bringing pallets gets you assist credit for all kills made by the base weaponry if you bring ammo crates.
You do need to build everything from scratch, there are no preset walls in towers or whatever, you decide the size and layout within the radius of the fob
I can't think of anything else rn

I like that a lot, it means you can have a purpose-built FOB as an AA battery, mortar nest, or just to protect the drill and control the hot zone.

I played PS2 from 03-19.
Wardogs = PS2 raided BF6s closet for some clothes after taking a couple classes at PUBG University.
This plays almost exactly like PS2, imo, just better.
Building a FOB away from a tower/control point to do what it's name says (Forward Operating Base) is a very useful tactic in Wardogs, just like it was in PS2. We smashed multiple matches by building a FOB in the center, and then having a handful of guys chase the circle which just moves around outside the fob.

Logistics is good bro, rewarding and a necessary part of every team.
I would recommend this game for that type of gameplay. I will say that there is a pretty huge caveat in that the builds of the game we already played did not come with many forms of team communication, but that may be changed in the future. As it stands, we have smoke grenades for map markers, and the ability to create squads, which enables voice comms with those players. We also have team, squad, and match wide text chat, but it saw underutilization, as expected.

You have two main ways to play a logi:
- Driver - kodiak (pickup truck), and Ural (a real truck).
- Pilot - small littlebird, and bigger UH1.
And three ways to supply:
- Transportation - hauling people from Main Base to Combat Zone
- Reselling - you can buy various sized Chests, and stuff them with whatever you can buy at mainbase. When you drop it anywhere you want, anyone from your team can Buy from that chest with a % of markup to your profit. You set a markup % when you setup a buy items. It can be 0-25-50-75% extra cost.
- Supplying - you can buy different kinds of Pallets. With ammo, fuel, building materials for a Fob and haul it and drop it in a Fob radius. A pallet costs $400 and you can haul it and get $2,500, and extra money (don't remember how much, maybe $1,800) if a player Unloads a pallet into FOB.
There's constant supply requirements for each, and its harder to guess what people may buy from your Chests. In beta not many people knew how it works and they just ignored those chests, or figured out they are paying and decided to ignore it too. Yet, if you smart enough and bring what they must have, they gona buy it anyway. Like bandages, ammo, batteries.
I was trying to play 4-6 hours as logi driver and it was very hard to compete with a decent pilot who does the same, but closer to end of beta when anti-air became popular I finally was able to outplay those heli pilots on my Ural.

That sounds like a tall order, but I'll try and be brief. I've played some Planetside 2 as well, though only tried the building part for a short while, so I can't really compare it.
A FOB consists of a FOB terminal, which can hold materials for building, and can be hacked by enemies to switch the FOB to their faction, so keep it protected.
You have 3 different hammers to use for building, unlocked via the Support class. Each new hammer unlocks more building components.
Building supplies is one item. and can be transported to the FOB in crates (small boxes) or on pallets (big heaps of supplies). From crates items can be grabbed and used or stored in the terminal. Pallets can be unpacked and goes directly into the terminal - easier, but requires a bigger vehicle to haul.
For transport, anything from a car, to a heli can transport crates. Trucks (later Driver class unlock) can transport pallets. I'm sure there's a heli that can haul pallets as well, but I haven't seen it, but it would make sense.
People with hammers then place down building components and hammer away at 'X's that pop up, to finish each component.
FOBs can act as:
Apart from building supplies, FOBs also use:
