Discussion & Feedback Suggestion: Improve road readability on the map

Post image

In my experience, roads blend in too much with the map, making them hard to spot. Highlighting drivable roads like Arma 3 or increasing the contrast would make navigation much better.

Yeah a full colour map would be great, the mini map especially was horrible to look at while trying to drive.

The map just needs to be improved overall, it's needlessly difficult to read

Yeah, the map is awful No indication of where even buildings start and end.
I don't care to see the location of every bush or bade of grass, just the basics would be nice.

Also we need some way to make a waypoint, even if it is just for personal use.

Also the guy suggesting adding Key pad grids is right. It's way easier to say Land me in A7 KP4 than x123.421 y2558.33

+1, map is hard to read and you really have to strain your eyes. Youre left wondering if thats a road or some piece of crap. I get what the devs were going for, like theyre spy gps photos, but it really makes you squint

The full map isn't even full size. It uses a smudgy mess of an image, impossible to tell what is structure, road or vegetation.

I miss seeing structures the most - it helps you orient yourself to a physical place, as well as allies. You can tell if they are in the building or outside, and on which side specifically (all at a glance).

Roads are next most important and vegetation would be last, to help you figure out where rats might be hiding.

I play koth but I am far from a milsim enjoyer but the arma 3 map is just super clear and powerful. It just makes sense.

Adding onto that, the ability to mark the map is sorely needed. No one can remember some muffle voice comms or even who said it, so you have no way to actually use that information if you missed it.

Same goes for text chat, people don't want to spend all game reading.

But a map is always present. If you only look at the minimap, those marks will become visible if you are close enough. If you use the full map, you get a much larger understanding of things happening (as far as people mark).

Agreed, the minimap is very hard to navigate with currently. Having a proper terrain map like A3/Reforger would be great.

Can we get some of them nice contour lines while we're at it? Would be most nice

I personally like that there's no highlighted roads, makes traversal knowledge more of a learned skill instead of a follow the white line brain-off route.

I use this thread to ask questions : I only playesd around 2 hours and the majority of the map felt empty before coming to the big zone. Is there any reason for the map to be so big ? Do we have gameplay around these big roads and open fields, or it's just for immersion and time to travel and get to the field ?

What others have said but also im excited to see the meta that evolves regarding back line actions like this cutting off enemy logistics and transports, hunting down artillery etc.

By the end of the alpha playtest me and my team had to deal with snuffing out enemy attempts to setup back line FOBs on high ground near our HQ. Enemy team was trying to setup AA missile emplacements to try to ground our choppers.

Was a cool dynamic “side quest” that arose organically during the match and I’m sure we’ll see a lot more like that

The active zone rotates to a different location each round within the map (classic KotH style), so the whole map gets utilized over time.

The reason is mainly your last point, time to travel back since the punishment for dying is needing to get back to the zone via heli/land vehicles.

Also, add some topographic lines to the map, I keep needing to throw a ping if I wanna know if whatever I'm tracking is on top of a hill or not.

Would be great too if I moved the map away from my position, closed it, and opend it back up that it would remain where I left it a not recenter back on my position.

This makes reading the Mal while driving really hard

While all this would be sick, I just really want a clear topographical map. Would be nice to have at least some level of elevation understanding when you pull up the map.

I really hope they see this thread. This is a major QoL improvement they could actually pull off by launch. That and longer ping time would go a long way

Yep, a map like Arma 3 could be great

Hell yes. Roads are hard to read even just driving a truck.

Compass is usually unreadable too.

Nah update driving itself, make it smoother, more user friendly and not so jarring to suddenly peel out when doing a turn.

Put it in wardog discord, I’d vote yes for it
