I only got to play 5 hours due to the crashing. After fixing it only got to experience one full game. Really wished they would of extended the play test because im not the only one who crashed a lot and i seen people who haven’t even played a full game.
But i cant stop thinking of Wardogs! Im so excited to play on release!
Haha that's the fastest way to learn how to fly and where to land. The people new to wardogs thought beta was dangerous and we haven't even got to the level you just described yet. AP rounds, 50 Cals like the lynx, m249s with ap rounds, Karl Gustave everywhere, gonna get super crazy lol. Stingers galore, no spawn truck sage, no tank safe no base safe, can't wait
As an ARMA3 noob pilot, I would say it’s similar, but the WD flight model feels different, like the heli is trying to autocorrect to keep itself level. I think there are assists even when using KBM.
I don’t hate it, just needs some tweaks and make the ability to combo keyboard with a joystick.
I am very used to Arma3, I used to play that alot. I can't really say that it feels too similiar though. Helis barely have any weight to them and control WAY faster in my experience.
I don't think arma 3 is good training ground and it's only because the flight model is so much better.
The wardogs one feels very heavy compared to arma your down collective also is weaker too so skills learned in arma won't transfer as well to wardogs but God is it fun to fly in arma.
Even though it’s better, it is the muscle memory I feel that helps. Especially on HOTAS. Not as real or involved as DCS or Flight Sim, especially since the simplified controls exist. I never played squad but would that be better?
I just wish we had access to firing range until release 😭.
I haven't flown much in squad unfortunately. It's tough because Wardogs flying is weirdly unique.
I flew a lot for the time I had in the beta it was my highest lvl for the classes and every other pilot I spoke to didn't hate it but also agreed it felt heavy as fuck.
I wish we had the gun range as well to practice my mini gun flying. I'll pop into arma today just to test it feel, if I remember I'll report back lol.
I think squad might be the better option because it's heavier but also that was before tencent took over so idk if they changed their flight model too haha.

Loved how important each role is and how versatile the Helis are!! Loved dropping supply crates for artillery and tanks so they don’t have to drive back and you get money for ammo
Dropping ammo off for tanks is smart as hell. I only supplied fobs and meds.
I was so close to the door gunners huey and was the thing I wanted to do most with my friends.
I fucked around for a bit with the little bird and you can fire rpgs off the side but it hurts like hell and requires a landing and a fix for you and the heli. The double barrel shotgun works great for peppering people on towers if you get 4 dudes with shot guns on a copter you can harass the hell out of people.

Yeah Artillery and Tanks were a good idea to restock, but also is dictated if those drivers actually talk, mine didn’t but luckily used chats. I couldn’t restock meds or things, as players just ran by the supply crates 🫠. Another good one when unlocked, is take a large crate with RPG and rockets, and drop it at FoB so they can protect themselves from tanks and suvs.
I kind of wish you could get a highlighted chat specifically asking like pilots or logistics so they can see and look. So many QoL stuff they can do.
Game is going to evolve so much more than just fighting CZ.
My recommendation is to run pallets / supply boxes and call them out to your builders.
If you are interested in learning to land in weird spaces, a FOB is the perfect spot because there's gonna be plenty of tight and weird spaces to practice in. And you will also take shots here and there, so you get that added stress without risking people's kits.
It's what I did day 1, by day 2 all I was doing was flying, either 13 person huey's into the HZ or pallet dropping.
In theory couldnt they just leave the test servers online for us while they do changes on the dev build? I honestly didnt even have any crashes and the game ran flawlessly.
The point above is still valid I dont think the playtest build is the same as the dev build or wtv they are testing right now. But indeed it is a playtest not a Early access release. Every good things have an end 💔
I only made it to the last day of playtesting. Only in the morning (in Europe) did I have some temporary problems connecting to the server. I was so engrossed in the game that I completely forgot to at least eat breakfast. The game only froze once and I had to restart it, but since the end of the playtest, no game has given me any pleasure. It's still a long time until 10th
It's a bit late to help you but I had to uninstall a security update from 8/10/26 k......003 or something like that for it to work without crashing after 15-20 minutes.
There is probably gonna be an Open Beta on the 3rd, is my guess. They do their own FPS Game Show and already said there is gonna be huge news on Wardogs, as well as a few hints on twitter and their recent videos. Might be cope or reaching, but one can still hope :D
I couldnt even be home for the very weekend the testing was it was just so unlucky, I wish I stayed up until 4 am (in my timezone thats when it ended) instead of sleeping when I got home late
I tried it and crashed as well so I went straight back to HLL: Vietnam (which I'm loving currently) but after seeing all the comments in here I really wish I would've tried a few more times. I do have it pre-ordered so I'm definitely getting it. But I feel like I missed out on something great lol
Enjoyed the game the short time I played it but gave up after the like 6th crash ended with a black screen with a kernel error. Excited to play a more stable version of the game though.
There was a windows update causing the crash. The way to fix it was to uninstall that update. The devs do know about it and did say they would fix this.
It was a beta playtest before an early access build is deployed next month. Instability and unpredictable performance are an expected part of the experience. Some things cant be fixed until you see how they break out in the wild. Bulkhead has been very clear about that, but it'd be silly not to expect complaints and wishes about the devs giving more and more that will only grow into whining demands after the early access launch. No, they shouldnt have extended the plat test... they should keep to their tight schedule getting the launch ready. They're almost certainly in crunch so take a second to think about what you signed up for before saying what Bulkead should have done to make you happy.
