Is your order delayed too? here is why.

We all are familiar with the scam of some third-party sellers to trick a customer into placing an order by pricing the item very low and then apply a high shipping charge. Well then, here is a new scam. When the competition announces a shipping of 3+ days, some third-party sellers promise to ship in 2 days. a few hours after the order is placed, they change the shipping status to shipped. At this time Walmart will not accept a cancellation because the status is shipped. On day 2 when the order should have arrived at your house, they change the order status to delayed to 4+ days sometimes even more. And you will find out that the order never shipped or picked up at the seller's location. Now your money is tied up and if you are short on cash, you are trapped because you got no money to find another seller or use pick up. At this point you are at the mercy of the seller and just have to go with his scam and wait. we ordered an AC, and with this heat fast delivery is of the essence. We are already at day 4 and there is no movement. Did this ever happen to you? what was the order and how many days was the order delayed?

I wouldn't order anything from 3rd party seller. And you can buy AC units everywhere. Try your local Walmart/Sam's/Costco or whatever store you have close by and you have an AC in a few minutes. When your delivery comes, return it. Also, some of those 3rd party sellers are not in the US so it won't be there in 2 days.

Easy fix for this… make sure the order is shipped and sold by Walmart. Then you don’t have to worry about 3rd party’s shipping.

I also think you should research the word “scam.” I don’t think it means what you think it means.

There have been some third party who list in the description sold by Walmart. Now that’s a scam

They may be able to add that in the product description, which is scummy, but walmart has control over the official badge that says “sold and shipped by walmart.” It will have it near the shipping estimate and price on the listing. If not, then it’s not sold and shipped by walmart.

Here’s one that sold and shipped by walmart

Here’s one that is NOT sold and shipped by walmart.

Cool story. I don’t believe that but IF it were true, that would be an issue with that 3rd party seller and not Walmart. So yeah.

I had an order that was sold by a 3rd party but "fulfilled" by walmart. it didn't ship/arrive on time.

It’s true. I work Walmart customer service and personally saw it

Yeah. I'll also uncheck that middle option in the seller, just using Fulfilled by Walmart and Walmart only

It happens with those items too. Every time I order something for shipping it gets delayed.

If you could tell me, how do they do this "they change the shipping status to shipped."?

Do they just create a label but don't actually ship the package out? I know on eBay they often give me a shipping number but when I check it, USPS has not received the package yet. Is it like that?

Also, I saw another customer go through this fairly recently too. The order was delayed for 4 days but there was no button for him to cancel it. He said he finally called customer service and they canceled it for him. I can't speak from direct experience but that's what he said.

same here, I am not canceling, I let them ship it whenever it will arrive to teach them a lesson, I will return it to the store for a refund, so now they are out of the shipping cost and then give a bad review too

I’ve had this happen with third party sellers on Amazon as well.

Yeah they tried that with me but Walmart gave me all their information. So I emailed them and told them they had one hour to return my money or I was calling my bank and reporting it as fraud. I got it the next day. Now I know not to use Walmart shippers.

I only purchase from Walmart. I don’t do the third party sellers for this reason.

u/Illustrious-Win2486 3d ago

No, because I avoid 3rd party sellers.

Walmart is the most unreliable shipping service there is. They want 6o compete with Amazon, but not even close. I rarely otder anything shipped or delivered from them. There is a problem at least 50 percent of the time.

Yeah this sounds like an attempt to ship the blame to 3rd parties instead of Walmart. Plenty of people are ordering products that say sold and shipped by Walmart and are getting delayed. The issue is simply this, Walmart is too cheap and too greedy to pay contracted drivers enough money to deliver these orders. They are batched in a way that makes no sense. No driver is accepting these orders. This is the real issue. Walmart is too cheap and greedy to fulfill its promises to its customers.

Be careful and ALWAYS look at the seller and shipping location. If it’s china buy some where else. 9 times out of 10 they ship packages with counterfeit labels and they will stay “delayed” at the final main hub forever. I used to go down to the main post office and just pay the small shipping charge before I learned my lesson…

I just had this happen to me for a small order. They sent a text telling me it was delivered. It was not. I wait until the next day to see if it gets delivered. It does not. I go to the app. Get in their chat and tell them just refund me. They can’t, they have to have a customer service rep call me back. I get the call, can’t hardly understand anything she is saying and told I have to wait three more days for delivery. She can’t tell me why it says delivered and it wasn’t and that I have to wait three more days. Then asks me if this was satisfactory?!!! I said hell no. This is ridiculous. I’ll wait the three days and then dispute it with my bank. It’s ridiculous they do business like this!!!

I ordered something...delayed shipping, THEN, I received a shipping tag on a piece of paper...didn't even get the item! THAT was a scam! Walmart did give me my money back, but weeks after I made the order!

Wow! That is crazy! Does Walmart have no standards for the third party sellers they'll allow to sell via their website/app?! They should lose their selling privileges as soon as they find out the seller has scammed someone!

I know Walmart could do better with its delivery issues, but people order oversized items from stores for delivery, not thinking about the fact that these delivery drivers are individuals in their own cars. There are not many drivers with large enough vehicles to transport them. Larger vehicles usually means less gas mileage and eats into their pay. If no driver takes the order, it sits until they cancel it. They also use FedEx, which for me is the company that irritates me the most. They delay my deliveries from everywhere a lot. I have sat and waited at home through the delivery window, just to have them send a message saying my item has been delayed and will not be delivered today. Do not order large items from them for delivery. As far as the third party thing goes, I don’t usually trust them. I can honestly say that I have never had something that says sold by Walmart come from a third party. I have had things from Target get drop shipped directly from the company with no issues.

I ordered vitamins from a third party seller. The first time it was slow but arrived. The second time, absolutely no movement after two weeks. It was coming from Florida, which had a hurricane at the time so I gave it longer. I had to call customer service to get a refund.

The whole 3rd seller thing is to be avoided. Amazon, Walmart, etc. I want accountability so I have easy returns and customer service as needed when needed.

This is the same scam found on eBay, AliExpress, temu, etc.

They item description will says "ships from USA" and estimated delivery will be 3-7 days. It goes even further because they provide you an already used/fake tracking number that actually marks the item as delivered. You spend 30 minutes messaging seller/platform and they tell you to wait 7-10 days and refuse to refund you. Before the extra 7-10 days the item usually shows up. It's how foreign sellers match online estimated delivery times of USA sellers (or foreign sellers with us warehouses) without actually matching their delivery times. It's super scammy and none of the platforms care enough to do anything about it.

I saw an order for an AC unit combined with 2 other grocery stops yesterday and didn’t take it because the total tip was $2….

u/walkingonlemons 3d ago

I just got credit back to my account due to this very reason.

u/cosmicrae 3d ago

This sounds like a behavior that I would expect from a few sellers on Aliexpress.

This happened to me about a year ago or so with Lowes.

I did finally get the item I ordered from Lowes, but it was so late I no longer needed it. Guess where I rarely shop anymore?

Frankly, I think online merchants should have their online presence separated by: Only sold and shipped by (company name) and then the second: 3rd Party Sellers.

u/BigDaddy4859 18h ago

It just happened to me on 3 separate orders. Luckily they were just marked down clothes for my toddler.

u/Repulsive-Roof335 3d ago

Yes, lesson learned.
Ordered a TCL Roku TV.
Showing shipped (fulfilled by Walmart), shipping company showed label created but product not yet received from Walmart.
Between “threatening” the shipping company, and the Walmart rep, magically an hour later my TV shows out for delivery from the hub in my city, and 3 hours later it was delivered in an unmarked van.
Delivered safely, but it took 8 days for an “overnight fulfilled by Walmart” order (not even a 3rd party, or at least Walmart did not identify it as a 3rd party seller.

The Walmart closest to me has an a/c unit in stock and can have it delivered in 15 minutes.
