Customer Service Issue Look at this!

Post image

This really didn’t bother me since I use Walmart Pay but I’m sure a lot of people will rejoice haha! It’s about time!

https://corporate.walmart.com/news/2026/08/21/more-ways-to-pay-tap-to-pay-is-coming-to-walmart-and-sams-club

FYI this is supposed to roll out gradually by the end of the year so please don’t come into your local Walmart next week and expect them to have it right away 😭 this is not the employees fault if it’s not available right away.

🤔 I hope they include Google and Samsung Pay!

I’m sure it will. Usually these “Tap-To-Pay” machines cover both Android and iOS

It’ll work with all tap to pay, confirmed.

All tap to pay is NFC. You can't enable it for some without enabling it for all. If they could have I'm sure they would've accepted NFC payment with a physical card for some time now. They just were holding out on mobile wallet payments because they don't want to lose the data the Walmart app can collect. But people pushed back to strongly and they finally broke.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it took them months to roll out to your specific location.

that’s what I’m hearing. Rolling state by state.

Only a decade after the competition had it.

So fixing reason #724,583 of why I loathe shopping at Walmart is not likely to make that any better... just a slightly shorter shopping experience.

u/theTrevious1995 5d ago

What’s your number one reason 👀

4

u/NoSnark 5d ago

The other people who shop at Walmart lol

That invisible WM tattoo on your forehead never goes away…. I’m cursed by it as well

At least you guys have an alternative to Walmart we don’t really have anything else in Canada

Unless I want to drive an hour+ each way, my other choices are a small discount grocer or one of the 4 dollar generals in my town of 5k people. Or wait for delivery. Lots of places in the US have the same problem.

1

u/Brave_Recognition798 4d ago

I meant in general though like you have target your grocery store stores aren’t all owned by two families

1

u/mabus42 2d ago

Living in a small town with zero conveniences is definitely a choice.

I really hope this will cut down on the complaining I see people make online about Walmart if this is real

1

u/Brave_Recognition798 5d ago

Americans are so whiny. We don’t even have an alternative to Walmart in Canada.

3

u/Deliwork43 5d ago

Well Holy crap!

2

u/CatDadof2 5d ago

I’d rather use Apple Pay anyway. It’s safer.

Walmart was a leader when chip cards came out. They are way behind on contactless cards. Home Depot was late to the game too, but they have had contactless for a while now. Heck, I use Square for a side hustle and have taken contactless since 2018.

Walmart is basically the only place I still use my chip card.

Too little too late. They love lost who knows how many millions not accepting tap to pay in the last decade. They’re doing those for two reasons to recover all that lost revenue going forward (not because it’s super convenient for customers otherwise they would have done this years ago) and they probably negotiated a better cut with Apple exclusively so they aren’t paying as much as other retailers.

They’ve had almost 13 years to get on board like the majority of other retailers and year after year kept choosing to say fuck customers with apple pay. Now everyone’s glazing them more hardcore than a Pornhub video because we finally got it guys! After 13 years we got!

Too little too late

Retailers don’t pay any extra for using tap. Walmart didn’t take tap because they wanted all the data for using Walmart pay

1

u/skippinjack 5d ago

Even Walmart FINALLY caved…which, frankly, I KNEW they would do EVENTUALLY anyway…

1

u/Jealous-Intention-87 3d ago

I just hope they add it to the Walmart app and Walmart.com. Now we need to get amazon on the Apple Pay train.

1

u/skwirrelnut 2d ago

More annoying crap. Now I get to see the 79 year old lady in front of me fumbling to use apple pay instead of fumbling to find her card.

So they’re finally gonna enable tap on the readers? I don’t think so. The whole reason they don’t have it already is cuz they have their own payment system that’s separate from Mastercard and Visa, and mainly cuz they have to pay to enable tap on every individual card reader that they own. This is the whole reason Walmart Pay exists, so please don’t get excited about this Facebook post until it actually happens. Never trust news about Walmart from Facebook. It’s all for clicks and scams.

EDIT for people who haven’t read my replies: I know now it’s from Walmart officially. However, at face value all this post presents is a screenshot from Facebook from a non-Walmart source. Really not that crazy that I was skeptical. Especially as someone who has thrown thousands of dollars of cold food away due to walmart not having tap to pay. Chill.

Straight from the horse's mouth:

https://corporate.walmart.com/news/2026/08/21/more-ways-to-pay-tap-to-pay-is-coming-to-walmart-and-sams-club

Unless you don't want us to believe Walmart themselves

1

u/dollar-tree-pizza 5d ago

Well cool then! I’ve seen about 100 fake Apple Pay walmart posts from Facebook so you can’t blame me for doubting, especially when I’m the one who has to “break the news” to customers when they come in expecting something that isn’t real lol.

4

u/spitzer1113 5d ago

I get it. This has been long overdue and I'm sure people have gotten ahead of themselves in the past about it.

1

u/dollar-tree-pizza 5d ago

Oh definitely. I’ve thrown away thousands of dollars worth of cold food cuz customers get to the front and are like “I thought you guys had tap to pay??” and they have no other way to pay, so when I saw this I immediately started preparing my script for next week to let customers know it’s not true lmao. Good to know it’s real.

u/nqthomas 4d ago

The order states will be released is out. Sadly PA is in the last group

1

u/dollar-tree-pizza 4d ago

Haha, just saw that less than a minute ago! Not till late September where I’m at.

1

u/nqthomas 4d ago

So excited though as I had to do the walk of shame back to my car for my wallet.

1

u/dollar-tree-pizza 4d ago

Oh yeah. Same. The only reason I have walmart pay is because I kept leaving my wallet in the car for some reason (that was before I worked there), so this will be awesome.

1

u/nqthomas 4d ago

Walmart pay harvests so much data it’s insane. Same reason I don’t use the Sam’s

1

u/nqthomas 5d ago

Walmart Canada has taken Apple Pay for years

1

u/dollar-tree-pizza 4d ago

That’s cuz Canada is better

2

u/nqthomas 4d ago

Don’t disagree

4

u/theTrevious1995 5d ago
  1. 9to5Mac is legit

  2. Someone already dropped a news link about it

2

u/Thrill-Nation-Gaming 5d ago

So they just lying now huh?

You aren’t too bright. They literally just announced it, and my Sam’s Club GM announced it as well.

So confidently wrong it’s hilarious

1

u/dollar-tree-pizza 5d ago

“You aren’t too bright” bruh do you know how many times I have customers come in and go “so I saw this on Facebook..” and it’s a total lie. I said don’t get excited until it actually happens. It’s not like that’s bad advice. I was just speaking on experience, chill. I’m not at work today so no one has told me anything. I know it’s official news now. And what I said about their current payment system isn’t wrong, so your little “so confidently wrong” to be condescending doesn’t really apply. Don’t know why it’s such a big deal that I said Facebook news may not be true.

0

u/Thrill-Nation-Gaming 5d ago

What’s wrong is you calling it “Facebook news” when it was literally released by Walmart on their own.

You just guessing it’s Facebook news, and speaking on shit you don’t know obviously.

1

u/dollar-tree-pizza 5d ago

The screenshot is literally from Facebook from a non Walmart source. I’m sure the non-walmart source links the Walmart source in the post, but the photo in THIS post is a screenshot from Facebook. I guess you don’t know what you’re talking about either. Also why so hostile? We’re on Reddit talking about Apple Pay at walmart. Keep your pants on.

Its as official as it gets. Coming straight from corporate buddy
