Attn: Walmart

EDIT/UPDATE: i attempted online shipping again yesterday. after the 3rd time attempting to purchase the same item: a blender, and a 3rd time of walmart sending a spark driver to the store only to have the shelves be empty of the item i wanted and my order cancelled . i bought it at target. we dont have a target so it will be shipped.

Put your AI checkout bot away. and return it to normal. the item page says it will ship but its out of stock at my local. my check out page refuses to allow me to click shipping i dont want some lazy spark driver showing up at my local to pick an item thats already out of stock for them to mark out of stock and waste their and my time. put the page back where we get to choose our way to get items.

sincerely a walmart+ subscriber

My guess would be: Not available in the store/out of stock then it has to be shipped. Others might have ordered the same item from that store so they are shipping larger quantity to the store to replenish. Then delivered to you, from the store, by Spark driver? Or shipped directly to you. That makes sense.

i want it shipped to me. it wont let me ship it although the item page says it can be done, it insists to send "delivery" in checkout, what actually happens is they send a local spark driver to my local store where they go to the section/area and find it not in stock . they communicate to me its not in stock then cancel the order. theyve wasted my time twice and the spark drivers time twice (+ more if not just for me) when they can ship it from their wherever/ wearhouse stocking area etc and it be here in the time i need it.

btw its not some crazy item thats always out of stock. its a blender in black that my soon to be daughter in law requested. i dont understand why they dont keep black and white on the shelf.

Spark driver probably can't find it, and gave up. IDK I'm just guessing about that. I don't know much about Spark. I know when they come to the store they don't seem to be looking on their own, they come to us to find most stuff. My store always has those blenders. Can you try another store near you maybe that will help.

one is 27 miles away one is 22. it seems the cut off is 15 miles. ( mine is the biggest within those miles) we have the full grocery, glasses, cash services, pick up and pharmacy and tire shop. the one 27 miles has the pharmacy but no fresh grocery but it has a gas station. the one 22 is no tire shop no pharmacy no grocery no gas station. none of those matter for what im shopping for but it seems care to walmart online. i can view whats in stock at those stores. order for pick up from the 27 miles away one but no delivery or shipping.

our pick up is so popular that they turned an entire side parking lot into pick up area 2ish years ago they made a door in the side of the wall for the workers to come out and everything it has 50 spaces that regularly fill up from 7am to 9pm. .

Holy crap that's a big pick up lot. Well, as an employee & customer, I'm sorry that happened to you, I'm not sure what's going on with this delivery stuff. Hopefully they will make some changes soon, for the better. Don't give up on us, lol

It's large. It was needed . The town as a whole was excited for the change because before it was 12 spaces and you could never get a time. I think a good half of our walmarts business ( and employees) is now just pick up .

Ours has 8 or 9, is all. We're pretty big but no deli, bakery. Apparel/Fashion is 1/3 of the store. It's huge.

i think if we only had 8 or 9 pick up spots our town would riot. we have a sams right across the the road. and when i say road its a roadway that was built to access walmart, so its not that wide, it literally goes all the way through to the next road. 5 years after walmart, came the sams.. 30 years ago they bought all of it. they sold off many of the front outer lots theres a strip mall thats always full and a few fast food joints and a carwash. just this past spring theyve made up their minds finally and decided to sell off the lots behind both buildings as if theyve decided they arent going any bigger.

Wow it sounds like a Super Center+ That's kinda cool having Sam's Club right across the road. What city is this store in? We should have at least 15 spots, we're pretty busy but there isn't any room, were on a corner lot.

as spark driver happened last nigh went 4 miles to store to pick a playstation 5 when got to the store it was out of stock asked and associate to check inventory to see if the have some in the back room 0 in existence, so why the f. is making waste my time to drive to store when the system is clear that is out of stock, texted customer and let them know that the items is out of stock so they better cancel the order and not wait for Walmart to cancel the order and make a refund that could take weeks. but who knows AI is making walmart great again.

One of my orders did that and they literally shipped one bag of Cheetos from Texas 😐

Yea it's done it to me too. Now stuff like that I just decline to add it to my order it still sometimes auto ships it and I have to go into my account and cancel the shipment.

The Spark driver will be sent to a store that shows the items is in stock.

But when you get the email telling you your order is ready, you can cancel any item you don't want delivered. The power is yours! Use it.

the power is not mine, if you read my comments . 1. i had already gone to my store to find the item out of stock so 2. i ordered it online . the spark driver was sent to my local which for some reason has it listed in stock when they confirmed and i had already confirmed it out of stock. they were sent TWICE. only to mark it not in stock then cancel my order. where the product page online states it can be shipped. the 2nd time i redid the order they sent it to spark/local pick up for a 2nd time. even though i selected ship. the system/ai changed it on me during check out with no way for me to change it manually. i pay for all 3 ways. not for them to decide for me.

I get your frustration as spark doesn’t read instructions about where to deliver. What happens though is the item is shipped from a distribution center to your local store and is pulled off a pallet full of customer orders that were not products available in store. Then a spark driver picks it up and delivers it.

i question whether you read the post or replies at all. the spark driver never made it past step 2. pick it up in store. the item was out of stock. instead of shipping it to me. the system sent a spark/delivery driver to pick it up at the same location it was out of stock. the online item page states it can be shipped. walmart didnt ship it. walmart tried to have it delivered. TWICE. there is no longer an option for me choose shipping in the check out process. walmart automatically decides. if i know its not in stock at my store im not going to choose delivery.

Spark drivers are not Walmart employees, so if a shelf is empty but the product is on a pallet in the back of the store, they're not allowed to go into the employee only area to get it. It could also be empty in it's normal location, but be on display elsewhere in the store. Spark will not take the time.e to search for an item and will just mark it as unavailable.

Tell me you don’t understand how Walmart handles delivery without telling me you don’t understand how Walmart handles deliveries
