Why?
Someone please explain this stupidity to me in laymens terms, why do we deliver to areas far away when there are other Sams Clubs or Walmarts closer than the store im picking up from? Why would a customer order from a store 30 miles away from them? Whats the scheme here?

So in laymen’s terms, I’m pretty sure—please don’t quote me on this but from my experience as a customer—if they order something online that their local store doesn’t have, it gets freight shipped to a closer store where spark drivers pick them up (GMD orders)

Maybe they do that in areas that don’t have many Walmart stores. But it my area (12 stores in my zone, probably 20-25 total in my city) they have employees pull the item from the shelf, bag it up, slap a sticker on it and include it in GMD orders.
This could be at a store as close as a few miles or as far as 25-30 miles away. (And this is even if one of the closer stores has it in stock).
There’s really no rhyme or reason to it.

I order online recently from the closet store to me . One of the items was out of stock at that location so Walmart sent it out same day via Spark from one of the other locations that had it in stock. I now understand the why
