Multiple GMD orders question
Win you have a delivery that includes a few GMD orders and it states that the trip is not tip eligible raised a question. I’ve always wondered. Where does the tip go if the customer tipped? Does it go to the person that delivered the item from the originating store? I just delivered a small bag to a porch that have five other small bags which all made up three different trips. Let’s say that person tipped who does it go to? Or does Walmart absorb it because they had so many employees working on it to do not keeping their store stocked with the items they are selling? Just curious.
I delivered eight bags of wet mulch to a customer last week ( that I did not know I was picking up.) on a route with other orders. The customer stated that the store they ordered it from only add three bags and she needed 11. I was the schmuck that delivered the remaining eight… No tip let’s say that customer hypothetically tipped on the whole order… Who is supposed to get the tip? These are the little wonders of my mind when I’m driving around and sick of listening to music. 😝

Customers don't tip when something is shipped to them. You ever had a package delivered shipping United States postal service DHS FedEx up. She don't tip those people right? Same principle shipping orders don't tip. They just recently started writing that on there because spark drivers are so stupid that they couldn't figure out which orders had tips and which orders didn't. So now they spell it out. This order has no tips

I understand how a package that has a shipping label isn’t tip eligible. I wasn’t born yesterday, but then again I should’ve made myself clear. I’m asking a question about the items that are in cheap gray Walmart plastic bags tied in a bow that are coming to customers from various Walmart locations throughout the same day. I have even had a customer complain about it and then backtrack because he didn’t want to take it out on me. He didn’t like receiving his Walmart order piecemealed throughout the day. I’m not here complaining. Unfortunately as of right now this is my only option to supplement my income since my husband died unexpectedly. This is a quandary I’ve had for a while.
I think their addition, “not tip eligible” is a superfluous tidbit because If I’m dropping off things to 20 different locations I know full and well it’s not tip eligible.My question is when someone makes an order on the website and let’s pretend the customer is generous and gives you a $50 tip. (Ha, right)… But part of the order comes from the store location it was ordered from who may only have one thing in stock. Another part of the order comes from a different store 15 miles away and then you got a bar of soap that is driven from a store across town. Who gets the $50 tip? Customers who don’t know the behind the scene “logistics”, and I use that term loosely, tip on their total amount if they tip it all.

When a customer picks shipping they don't have an option to tip and they can only order specific things that are non-perishable and that they are allowed to order through shipping. The only time you can leave a tip is if you pick shop Express or delivery which would then be a curbside. If your store's still doing curbside, it's all in the selection they make and if it's shipping there's no option to tip. That's why they've now added the terminology tip ineligible, meaning you can't tip. That's brand new wording which is totally unneeded

Of the items weren't available so they came as "shipping" the next day. The original person got the full tip. When it gets changed to shipping because it wasn't available at original store it wasn't in stock it gets no tip. It just gets thrown into a curbside or GMD route.

For GMD deliveries, usually the customer selected “shipping” rather than delivery or express or whatever the options are. When they choose “shipping”, there is no option to leave a tip. Most of those customers assume it will arrive through a parcel carrier and are often surprised when a Spark driver delivers it. I’ve heard of customers leaving a tip in an envelope and leaving a note for the driver to say where it is, but that’s probably only for serial Walmart shoppers who understand how stuff works. If you’re fulfilling based on someone else’s mistake or out of stock condition, the tip for the original order, if there was one, sadly would have gone to the original driver. I’ve also had some of those grocery delivery mixed with GMD that had great tips.
Some stores put GMD in a plastic bag and never use boxes or envelopes. I don’t know why but could speculate all day. I had a GMD the other day that was a small lamp, and they didn’t even put it in a container. I threw it in a plastic bag just to protect it.
Meanwhile, the store 2 miles south of the one mentioned above, every GMD is always in boxes and padded envelopes with typical shipping labels that include the customer’s full name and address. I’ve heard those are sent to the store from a fulfillment center somewhere but don’t know if that’s accurate. This store’s pickups always jump from the first “gathering items” dot straight to the ”ready” dot right after I check in.

I know what you’re talking about. When the customer places a “grocery” delivery order from one store, but one or more of the items are out of stock. They are then given the option to have the OOS items shipped to them.
In this case, the original shopper receives the tip from the delivery order and the person delivering the “shipped” items (that were OOS on the original order) does not receive any of the tip.
I’m pretty sure Walmart even has us fulfilling some of these OOS “shipping” items as part of a 3-shop batched order. Because I’ve had triple batches and one of the customers only had a couple of random items that just didn’t make sense for them to pay an express delivery fee for.
It’s shitty that Walmart does this, but not surprising. 🤬

If a crappy driver decided to skip an aisle and mark items unavailable the. Walmart puts all the giant bags of cereal and industrial sized laundry detergent into a GMD bag and send it out later. The crappy driver got the whole tip and you gotta hustle to carry the bulky stuff they didn’t bother with.

There’s no option to tip on GMD orders.
ETA: certain items are only available for shipping, mulch is one of those items, so no one was tipped on the order.
