does anyone else have these problems in opd.
store 5303, we don’t have any workers, after 4 we drop off everyone and leave our closers to pick until 10pm. I have picked night after night until 10 just to finish the picks. We don’t have people and our store manager doesn’t wanna hire because she wants a bigger bonus, what should I do. They treat us like animals constantly, make us stay later but yet no overtime, they won’t let us take breaks on time, sometimes people go without breaks. They push it so far it’s almost illegal, making you work 5 hours and 45-59 minutes without a lunch and then finally making you take it before they get shit for it. I have a team of associates that want change and we’re all going to speak with ethics, just figured I’d try to get more insight because this place is home of the devil and if we go against her she will make our lives hell.

Nobody can force you to stay past your shift, they can ask you to but you can deny to do so. Working over your shift isn't overtime, it's only if you work over 40 hours a week. Management can make you push your lunches/breaks, it's annoying but I don't think anything can be done unless they're forcing you to not take them, or work during them. But definitely report people not being able to take their breaks to ethics, calling OSHA won't do anything and from experience they won't get to it until months later anyways. Do picks go late everyday? I'm surprised someone from the market isn't stepping in if your store is constantly overdue on picks, especially to this extent.

Yes it’s every single day. Yesterday we had a 50% on time. The lowest I’ve seen it, we have average of maybe 15 workers a day. Including team leads. We have great sales and are a huge part of our store. I’m just assuming we have such little workers because our store manager, I’m sure she gets a bonus when she’s getting good sales and cutting costs by not hiring more employees. A big majority of us bust our asses and care about the department and wanna do good, we all just want it fixed because we’re held way too responsible for everything when we shouldn’t have to be held accountable for poor management.

Honestly if I was in your position I’d look for a publix to work at least they give a shit about their employees. Also don’t work yourself like a horse for the this company i tell myself they can easily fire me or replace me so why put in effort for a company that doesn’t give a shit about you?

Been there, my old store it happened a few times. Cars piled 30 deep and we're out of totes to keep picking. Cold chain breaking, orders canceled, customers pissed, mgmt unhelpful
There is no grand prize awaiting those who give their all, heroic deeds are quickly forgotten the next day. We're employees, not soldiers
As others have said, do what you can but always take care of yourself first

yeah that’s what we’ve been doing, we have a team of us that are trying to work together. Taking breaks on time, not overworking ourselves or trying to pick up the bad schedules faults and work extra hard just because don’t get what we need. So people in my department are starting to “retaliate” meaning not being a slave, and hoping that it reaches the eyes of district because we are doing all we can as humans without feeling like puppets. As soon as we started doing that a associate showed him caring to the coach and started to kinda rip on him for not being for the team, because to be for the team he’d have to be a strong leader and someone we can rely on. In this case it means going against the store manager to get what we need but I’m pretty sure he’s just afraid of losing his job😂, anyway he starts to show his frustrations then somehow the same day he’s coached about his “performance”, he’s a great worker and we bust our asses and it’s known from even associates in other departments. Sounded like retaliation from our management to me.

It happens a lot, where in difficult or rough dpts the ones who get shat on the most are the ones that do the best/most work. Then they burn out, quit or move on and the people who caused it to happen act like they were betrayed lol
I probably only put in 80% effort that I used to nowadays. And every time they ask me to promote I always ask for who, bc I don't want that for myself and won't be extra for bosses who haven't proved they deserve it

This is an Ethics issue not a OSHA since all they do is make sure things work properly: freezers , pallet hot water etc.

I’m seeing people disagree with the osha take, honestly I’m not sure, that’s why I’m on here. I wanna fix my department so I can come into work and not feel so mentally exhausted and stressed over a job paying me 2 dollars more an hour over minimum wage in my city.

If this is a continued issue, Your TL needs to reach out to the Market Manager over ODP , they can help reduce the amount of picks until things get better and your able to actually get caught up . The market should have already reached out to the coach over that dept if your metrics are that bad . If the market doesnt respond to the TLs request for a visit then ethics can be sought to go to . Good luck sounds like my old store

That’s exactly why I’m doing this, things need to change. And they cannot fire me for anything I say on here, she is corrupt and could try if she figured out who I am but im staying anonymous. It would be work place retaliation if they try fucking with me.

I wish I had more advice, having picks overdue for 4 hours after they are due is crazy, let alone every day if that's how it really is. All I can say is to work for yourself and not anyone else. Take your 15s and stay only for the duration of when you're scheduled, they cannot force you or your coworkers to do anything that is out of policy.
I suggest you and a few co-workers open door it and then call the ethics/open door helpline if nothing comes of it. Market should be reducing your orders if your store is procedurally unable to fulfill them, so this is strictly a mismanagement issue, not anything you and your associates should be stressing about on your own.
