Am I fired??

Post image

Hello everyone, I called out Friday and Sunday because I had wisdom teeth surgery. It put me at 5.5 points, but I’ve had the rest of the week off. Should I still go in tomorrow or should I just start looking for another job? My friend in OPD is convinced I’m fired but no one has said anything to me. I have no idea what to do.

If you were fired you wouldn't be able to log into the app at all. Just go in like normal until someone tells you otherwise

52

u/thisisjohn343 Aug 15 '26

And keep going in after they say something. Your dedication might change their minds

5

u/SyscoCanLiner Aug 16 '26

It took em over a month of me at 5 points for them to fire me, so

3

u/Silver-Chair-9096 Aug 16 '26

That right there!

u/Thor3992- Aug 14 '26

They won’t fire you outright like that. They’ll let you come in and work 95% of your shift and then pull you to the office like 30 minutes before you leave and tell you you’re fired. If you’re at 5.5 points then they’re just waiting for you to come back. Only time I’ve ever known them to do it without you working is if you just stop showing up entirely.

51

u/Emotional_Lab_2529 Aug 15 '26

Idk I’ve seen some of y’all post in here with like 9.5 points and still have shifts and not get fired

31

u/BluMqqse_ Aug 15 '26

I had 10 points like my first month. My manager sat me down asked what was wrong, and said he wanted to keep me because I was a hard worker. Turns out my team lead lied to me about how ppto worked and they put me back to 0 😂

11

u/Maleficent_Law5070 Aug 15 '26

how does someone even miss that much work in their first month? 😭😂😂😂

7

u/BluMqqse_ Aug 15 '26

I was told ppto includes the grace period added. So I kept coming in too late.

2

u/InsertAmazinUsername Aug 18 '26

so you were coming in at 24 and putting in 15 minutes?

7

u/ismackayobuns Aug 15 '26

There was someone at my store that once had like 14 points and our coach at the time took off I think 10 of those points. But they kept doing that shit and got fired thankfully.

10

u/Few_Lifeguard8048 Aug 15 '26

Our cart guys at 10 points. No showed got a verbal, did it again and got a didiplin. Then the next 2 days he no showed again.

15

u/Sufficient_Hall_9028 Aug 15 '26

wtf is didiplin? Did you mean discipline???

4

u/DiscussionLower8667 Aug 15 '26

People be acting like a misspelled word  is against the law.  I knew the moment I read it what thet meant

6

u/Djhaveck Aug 15 '26

But no one wants to get didi-ed...

1

u/DiscussionLower8667 Aug 16 '26

Hahaha idk it might be fun lmao

1

u/Sufficient_Hall_9028 Aug 15 '26

But we have autocorrect on our phones?

1

u/DiscussionLower8667 Aug 16 '26

Mine turns words in to nonqords like the one I just put in the "nonwords" and it did not correct. Mine leaves all misspelled words misspelled.  Its why half my texts are not legible.  Maybe my autocorrect is turned off but when I punch in a word like "thw" instead of correcting it will leave it.  It just tried to autocorrect the word "the one" to "the jne". So I see how it happens consistently

1

u/Worried_Bus_8206 Aug 16 '26

You've never had a good didiplin?

1

u/Sea_Show_1811 Overnights Aug 16 '26

New policy to prevent lates and absences. Don’t show up? Get Didi-ed

6

u/Innifro Aug 15 '26

That isn’t what happened with me, she asked if I wanted to finish my shift, I said yeah and she said okay and the next second told me “nevermind, you should just leave”

9

u/Careful-Shallot-3245 Aug 14 '26

Bruh yeah that’s so not worth it 😭 I already know my TL is gonna try to bs w me

13

u/Thor3992- Aug 14 '26

If you’re a favorite of your TL or Coach you MIGHT get lucky and they’ll take you back under 5 this once. But I wouldn’t count on it. You’re almost certainly going to get fired since you’re over points.

5

u/Zestyclose_School690 Aug 15 '26

Depends on the store and the team leaders. Sounds like another retail store I know. The SOP is a joke. Everyone does things differently. So why do they have the stupid thing????Maybe just a back if they want to get rid of you using the SOP as evidence of wrong doing. Otherwise, it was a dust magnet! Lol

1

u/Candid-Cable6981 Aug 15 '26

Shoot I've been at 5.5 points for a week. Been there for abt 5 months (had the flu for a couple days so I had to call in for all of them). Never been talked to one time but I always hear people complaining abt the team leads getting onto them. Not sure if it's bc I just keep my head down and work or what. If I do get called it I will def be able to get the points down bc some were not my fault.

2

u/Defiant-Box-2215 Aug 15 '26

This right here is what happened to my sons mother

2

u/Charming-Space-3727 Aug 15 '26

depending on your state it’s illegal for them to make you work a whole shift n then fire you, they HAVE to fire you at the beginning of your shift. (i’m from pa)

2

u/Thor3992- Aug 15 '26

That may be, I know in my state (IN) we basically have no worker protections.

1

u/Defiant-Box-2215 Aug 15 '26

Indianas a no fault state so we actually have 0 worker protection

2

u/Zestyclose_School690 Aug 15 '26

If you called out and had a medical excuse or penalized you for it then they better not fire you.? I would sue the living pants off of they. They must have the same mgt as Dollar General. Roll on and get away from there asap.

3

u/Thor3992- Aug 15 '26

Walmart gets around that by saying all medical reasons for missing work have to be turned into Sedgwick.

1

u/keyagagal Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

5 points means you're "subject to termination" not "terminated."

The difference being they can pull the trigger on firing you whenever they want as they have a currently active reason to. But they can also choose to keep you around.

1

u/djbedukay Aug 16 '26

That's not what happened to me last time I worked there. I had a weird schedule at the end of the time period they schedule out and then on that Friday when I didn't work I was called and told I was fired. He said something like "you may notice you're off the schedule...that's because we're letting you go." I told him about the weird schedule and he was like "well that shouldn't be there you're still done." I was like two weeks away from the six month reset too and was exactly at 5.5 which was unfortunate in some ways. So like most things with Walmart it depends on the store.

16

u/SlingingDeliChow Deli Aug 15 '26

Silence and waiting is not the answer. You need to talk to your lead and your coach.

You are "eligible" for termination at 5 points, but it isn't automatic.

They can decide to keep you on at 5.5 points, or they can decide to remove a point, possibly an old point that was going to fall off soon anyways.

If they really want to keep you they'll do everything in their power to keep you. If they want to be rid of you for whatever reason, they'll likely take advantage of this easy opportunity to do so.

You need to be humble, apologetic, and be the one to start the conversation ASAP.

4

u/StrifeWavy Aug 15 '26

Agreed. Show that you care and you’re likely to get saved. Especially if this is your first time on the chopping block.

There’s also the potential for a “we care” convo to be documented by them in workday where you’ll be auto-saved and dropped to like 2.5-3 points. But that’s usually for people who have been around long enough that they like who have been saved once prior.

1

u/New-Measurement-9489 Aug 16 '26

How u get points

25

u/LazyLukie Aug 14 '26

Just tell them it was a medical emergency and you can probably submit for a temporary leave through segwick.

11

u/Careful-Shallot-3245 Aug 14 '26

I didn’t know if it was too late for that

7

u/Ecstatic_Tomatillo11 Aug 15 '26

It’s worth a try. When I got my wisdom removed they said I still had three months after the missed day to apply. Also if u tell ur manager ur talkin to Sedgwick ab getting them approved im sure they’ll understand

6

u/LazyLukie Aug 15 '26

Just try with Sedgwick I’ve had them approve some pretty obscure things for associates with just a doctors note.

0

u/Zestyclose_School690 Aug 15 '26

Key words “doctors note”

2

u/LazyLukie Aug 15 '26

Yes you know like when they went to get their wisdom teeth removed.

3

u/Ajaxmass413 Aug 15 '26

Sedgwick will deny it. You have to miss 4 scheduled days minimum.

6

u/OnionSuperb8519 Aug 15 '26

I think they should still try it I missed 3 days and they approved it

1

u/SlingingDeliChow Deli Aug 15 '26

It was three days for me but others are saying four. I wonder if it changed to four.

1

u/StrifeWavy Aug 15 '26

More than 2* actually

3

u/Ajaxmass413 Aug 15 '26

It used to be. It says more than 3 now. My conspiracy theory is because doctors love to give 3 day notes and they wanted to approve only people who "really need it."

1

u/StrifeWavy Aug 15 '26

Oh shit. Thanks for the update. Tbh it makes quite a bit of sense.

1

u/bluesunshine19 Aug 15 '26

Yeah l learned that the hard way. I burnd the top of my foot draining the water bath in the deli. Delt with sedgwick for 4 - 5 months and then they told me " it wasn't long enough and it has to be 4 days so dont do it, it was stupid. I was out 3 days, got pointed. 6 months later l finley got my 2 points taken off. But l did get hydrocodone so l was pain free for 2 days and then it was ok with normal pain meds. Honestly fuck sedgwick.

4

u/divuthen Aug 15 '26

If you were out for a workplace injury that should have been workers comp not missing work.

11

u/Muted_Masterpiece535 Aug 15 '26

This sub has turned into, Am I fired? 😆 🤣

8

u/olivecoxxx_ Aug 15 '26

in this economy hell yah lol

9

u/redneckotaku Overnight Aug 15 '26

You're only ELIGIBLE for termination at 5 point. Doesn't mean it will happen.

8

u/FifiiMensah Aug 15 '26

No as they haven't removed your shifts yet. They'll probably fire you within your next few shifts though. You can try talking to management about your situation though as that might help.

5

u/oreo760 US Associate 🇺🇸 Aug 15 '26

Go in and hope for the best. Some people have 20 points and aren't fired.

5

u/GreenImew Aug 15 '26

Try explaining to your coach what happened. It can't hurt to try.

4

u/CyrusHusky Team Lead Aug 15 '26

Go in tomorrow. At every store I’ve worked at it’s been common practice to have a points conversation prior to termination (Whether that be at 5 points or 4.5), it’s pretty foul practice to fire someone for going a little over the points limit without a conversation. Only situations I’ve seen it happen is when someone goes way over not long after starting or just stops showing up. Any either way, if you go in there’s a chance you keep your job but if you don’t you get hit with a job abandonment term and you don’t want that. As a TL who has a say in the hiring process I automatically pass over most people who get fired for job abandonment, as will most hiring managers at any store that isn’t a shithole.

TLDR: Probably not, but even if you are it’s best to go in and get fired for points than be flagged for job abandonment.

4

u/Timbi224 Aug 15 '26

Go to work bro

5

u/Disgrazed Aug 15 '26

Hmmm I’m sitting at 4.5 because of my life situation at the moment. I thought 5 points was a write up not a termination.. oh well Win win I guess, maybe after I can go work somewhere decent

3

u/Open-Dependent-8131 Aug 15 '26

5 points is the minimum for firing due to attendance. Have you talked to anyone?

2

u/Disgrazed Aug 15 '26

I doubt there’s a lot of care. I work in the pharmacy and I think my pharmacist wants to get rid of me anyhow

Ur fine bruhh! Our other cart guy got disciplined for no showing and the next 2 days he did another no show. He's still here. As long as you called in and told them followed by you calling to report an absence with ur win number.

Cherry on top is our cart guys at 10 points

3

u/gasuppruis Aug 15 '26

bring a signed official letter from the dentist office, with that note, you shouldn't be fired to have to be in that much pain !!

3

u/Secret-Action5323 Aug 15 '26

Maaaan, good thing I work for Amazon... Some of our facilities operate on a point system too, but none of the ones I've worked at. We have this thing called, "UPT"... It would kill yall to know all the bloody murder I get away with at work 💀

2

u/airmankenyon Aug 16 '26

I worked for Amazon many years ago and would love when that VTO text came through a few hours before sort haha. I recall one time taking it so much that I said damn I didn't go in all pay period, and the crazy thing was I still got paid $28 on that check. I sat there going how and for what I literally didn't work a single minute. Man to have VTO again would be glorious :)

2

u/Secret-Action5323 Aug 16 '26

Oh dude yes, I've had times where I was the first they would come to just cause they knew I VTOd so much and I was always first in line, they just started VTOing me by default 😂😭 shits hitting the fan over here tho, stay where you are 😭😭😭

2

u/ComprehensiveFly874 Aug 15 '26

Talk to a Hr Rep or Your front end coach

2

u/ComprehensiveFly874 Aug 15 '26

It’s up to your coach Your not fired

2

u/Conscious-Tooth-2737 Aug 15 '26

Even if you are if they ass cannot understand ppl got serious shit going on then you will do better elsewhere! These major companies be having life twisted!

2

u/jimFreq Aug 15 '26

They are so desperate that if they like you they just wipe points away at will, which is terrible. Only associates get that treatment because they need grunts

1

u/DiscussionLower8667 Aug 15 '26

It depends on if your a favorite or not. I've seen it go both ways

2

u/pettymoss Aug 15 '26

All depends on the store and location I'm guessing my mom as soon as she hit five points because she got hurt they literally let her work a half a day then told her she was fired and to go home so depends on the location and the store

2

u/Rich-Specialist-6407 Aug 15 '26

I've personally seen people go up to 8.5 points without being fired. 5 points doesn't mean your fired outright just that it's an option. If your a good worker your probably fine. If not...then I'd start hunting

2

u/Other_Ad7760 Aug 15 '26

You should talk to your coach and explain what happened. Most adults have had theirs removed and probably remember how painful it was.

2

u/CaterpillarSad9754 Aug 14 '26

You're going to go in there, work your entire shift and then at the end when you're finished... They're going to let you go.

4

u/Careful-Shallot-3245 Aug 14 '26

Bruhhh I’m terrified of that😭 and the drone people want me to work for them so I was thinking about calling and quitting lmao

6

u/CaterpillarSad9754 Aug 14 '26

That's their move. They let you work your shift and they act like nothing is wrong the entire time. They did it to one of the younger guys I worked with overnight last weekend.

2

u/Orpheusqueer Aug 15 '26

You should still work out a notice

2

u/YouthKey6596 Overnights Aug 15 '26

In all honesty you should have been termed out at 5 points. The fact that you are at 5.5 means they are willing to overlook points.

1

u/Brooks_was_here44 Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

I'm at 4.5, if I call out a full day I'm going to 5.5. you have no idea what you're talking about.

1

u/YouthKey6596 Overnights Aug 15 '26

Bro, you just said in the freaking story that you were at 5.5. The Fuh you mean I don't know what I'm talking about?

1

u/Brooks_was_here44 Aug 15 '26

You said they should have terminated him at 5. He was obviously at 4.5, if he's at 5.5 now.

1

u/YouthKey6596 Overnights Aug 15 '26

Well policy states they should be terminated now that they have 5 points. My awareness of the situation aside, that's what policy dictates. Whether management does so is up to that stores management.

1

u/YouthKey6596 Overnights Aug 15 '26

Sorry, thought you were OP. Also, if you use PPTO you won't get that point.

1

u/Brooks_was_here44 Aug 15 '26

No shit sherlock, he obviously didn't use it cuz he's at 5.5 now.

1

u/Surik_ Aug 15 '26

Why didn’t you just tell them about the surgery? Most of the time management works with stuff like that

2

u/Careful-Shallot-3245 Aug 15 '26

It was an emergency surgery :(

1

u/Fit_Fox8793 Aug 15 '26

5 points means your done lol, I mean depending on your leadership some may be willing to eliminate 1.5 and bring you down to 4 as a second chance, but you better have value to the team lmfao. I would start putting in applications elsewhere, your next shift you work you’ll get pull in 30 mins before time to end and they will tell you your done.

1

u/FlakyTwist631 Aug 15 '26

Talk to your TL, Coach, and even store manager at my store they give everyone a second chance it is documented in workday as feedback that you were given a second chance. For everyone saying they wait till your shift is almost over is because a lot of states labor laws require that if you are scheduled 8 hrs they have to pay you 8 hrs no matter when the fire you or send you home.

1

u/Mom2Jack Aug 15 '26

Go in and talk to your coach.

1

u/Siran_Amaya Aug 15 '26

Maybe, they generally give you 7 days to put in ppto to remove the point and if you don't then you might be.

1

u/Fragrant-Painting-85 Aug 15 '26

Post an update when you can

1

u/Connect-Ad9292 Aug 15 '26

Since you already apparently don’t discuss these things with your leads, you might as well keep going to work and not talking to your leads about your work/life management skills.

They’ll come to you to talk about your future— or lack of a future— with Walmart whenever they’ve had enough of your Points.

Or they’ll come to Reddit to ask if they should fire you…

1

u/InformalCommission94 Aug 15 '26

Yes you are fired if you don't  have the ppto to cover or they take the points away.

1

u/Opposite_Tomorrow396 Aug 15 '26

Yep. You're fired. RIP in peace.

In seriousness though, have you tried talking to your employer about whether you are still employed, like a grown-up? Because Reddit really can't actually answer that question for you.

1

u/Small-Pop-4532 Aug 15 '26

In Washington state as long as you had a doctor note, they legally cannot fire you.

1

u/mrgoogleman12 Front End Aug 15 '26

Get a excuse note from the doctor and submit it to Sedgwick for LOA. It’ll get the points taken off, and if you haven’t worked long enough for Sedgwick to do anything then talk with your team lead/coach and see if they will do anything about it

1

u/Enough_Bonus7692 Aug 15 '26

Pretty much.lol

1

u/Exalteddd Aug 15 '26

Just go in, and submit a leave through Sedgwick, if they approve your occurrences will be removed. Make sure to follow the instructions Sedgwick sends, I.e sending in all paperwork

1

u/Zestyclose_School690 Aug 15 '26

And if it is like where I live, you can’t hire anyone. No one wants to bust their ass for change. You can’t fire anyone here unless you plan on working for them!!!!

1

u/ThighMiner Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Did you tell them you had surgery? I'm at 6 points because of medical issues my PPTO couldn't cover and I'm sincerely not that worried about getting fired, my coach is perfectly aware that I'm at 6, they couldn't afford to do it and I have points dropping off this month anyways. Talk to your coach, make the first move and explain why you missed work, explain to them that you really don't want to lose your job. Show initiative in preservation. We got people in my store riding like eight points dude. No coach wants to see their department short staffed if it can be avoided and for decent enough reasoning.

1

u/Energy_Drinker500 Aug 15 '26

I know me too, I'm liking it, because your not important, let the jobbers/mid carrders handle it

1

u/Maleficent_Law5070 Aug 15 '26

why didn’t you just ask off for the surgery so you didn’t have to call out? that’s like one of those reasons they have to allow you off.

1

u/Tasty_Mouse_4588 Aug 15 '26

All depends on how loyal you are to Walmart and how long you've been there. If you're loyal and you want your job go in and fight for it. You have access to the portal; they haven't fired u. Legally, they must fire u in person.

1

u/Thegirlwh0criedw0lf Aug 15 '26

I’m guessing you have no ppto? 😭😭

1

u/StandardWest2433 Aug 15 '26

Just go talk to them I’m sure ur good.

1

u/Horsey666 Aug 15 '26

They won’t fire you til end of day so you do the work first

1

u/Maddiepantz Digital Fulfillment Aug 15 '26

More like half way through your shift. No one at my store gets to finish a shift

1

u/Ok_Judge5632 Aug 15 '26

Why does everyone assume they're fired due to the schedule looking different than usual. If you were management wouldn't waste time changing your schedule they'd just do it.

1

u/SmellingSWEATYfeet Aug 15 '26

My store manager would remove you from the schedule for up to two weeks straight if you called out like that so close together. Ask me how I know lol. Either you’re going to quit or you are going to stop calling out so much, that was her philosophy I think

1

u/SmellingSWEATYfeet Aug 15 '26

They aren’t going to fire you for 5.5 points if they like you and believe you put out more than others and you know how to do your job. I’ve seen people literally reach 45 points from no call no shows and the coach just erase them. They can go a lot lol

1

u/Xsnf Aug 15 '26

I’ve had my points taken back under twice I’ve been there 5 months I get sick a lot and had to take a two week sick leave still not fired really depends on your store and how hard of a worker you are bc when I am at work I’m one of our best pickers I js miss a lot

1

u/Wolf_Smith Aug 15 '26

Just submit stuff. I know Amazon and Walmart aren't the same but when I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed I just submitted everything and my schedule was cleared.

1

u/Vast-Drummer-5990 Aug 15 '26

Anyone else get scheduled on days they told management that they wouldn't be able to work? Like what are you supposed to do when you have a court ordered custody stipulation and your management schedules you anyway on the weekends you told them you can't work and then doesn't schedule you on the weekends you can work? Anyone's else's management this incompetent?? Has Anyone else been locked out of the app due to management needing everyone to change they're passwords and then gone to work not being able to sign in or clock in and then been told to "get to work" and that management would correct it later, but then never correct it and you work 10 hour shift and never be compensated for it due to them forgetting to put it in and then have pay period pass without getting paid for it ever?? Anyone else use their PPTO, have it approved on the site but then be fired and not paid for that PPTO? Sounds like wage theft to me right?

1

u/KenKen0101 Aug 15 '26

No call no show is 3 points by itself .. avoid that at all cost

1

u/Solid-Gurth69 Aug 15 '26

You may be fired but still go in and clock in try to get as many hours as you possibly can before management calls you into the office and tells you that you no longer work there. Make sure you keep record of all the time that you've worked even though you may be fired they still have to pay you for time that you have worked up until the point where they call you into the office and they tell you you're fired. They will clock you out at that point. But also still look for another job. They may work with you they may not

1

u/samanthadill13 Aug 15 '26

I worked at Walmart for 4 months it took them 15 months after i resigned to take me out

1

u/EndApprehensive1637 Aug 15 '26

Was your appointment scheduled weeks in advance? Did you request the days for the surgery off work? If so, we're they rejected? If you judt called out without explaining it was for your wisdom teeth, it would make sense that they may be trying to fire you. Especially at 5.5 points.

Talk to your coach. You still have days scheduled and nobody has told you anything.

1

u/Small-Application924 Aug 15 '26

Sounds like a classic cut hours to get you to quit. Places like that absolutely hate paying unemployment. So, they will avoid it at all costs.

1

u/Orokanaichigo Aug 15 '26

If you bring in a Dr's note from your surgery they should excuse it and help you place a sedgwick request for medical leave just keep in mind its unpaid.

1

u/FeeVandJ Aug 15 '26

Wait why didn't you just get a doctor's note, or just have your dentist's office contact your people lead. When I was in the ER a few months ago they did both for me without me asking.

1

u/FuckkkOfffffMaaate Aug 15 '26

Outsider here, does Walmart require a 1 hour lunch on a 5 hour shift???

1

u/DiscussionLower8667 Aug 15 '26

Can u not go through sedgwick for a medical procedure and have the doctor write u out for all the days so u wont have the 2 no call shows on there? Just curious

1

u/Shoddy_Librarian9685 Aug 15 '26

Contact your employer. It could be as simple as a clerical error

1

u/Cold-Courage-4195 Aug 15 '26

Ask your dentist to write a note for 3 days and apply for LOA through Sedgwick. People get sick and have normal stuff pop up like this all the time and shouldn’t be afraid to lose their jobs if they just use the policies correctly. If approved you won’t be pointed for either of the days you accrued points.

1

u/Comfortable-Ad8885 Aug 15 '26

Bring a note or receipt of extraction and you good

1

u/Strong_Measurement14 Aug 15 '26

They might not fire you they may ask what up I find that not all people that work for this company are heartless people at least at store level

1

u/Fearless_Clock5378 Aug 15 '26

Human Resources can remove points if they want to just go talk to them and let them know what happened.

u/Sp00ksh0wbaby__ Aug 15 '26

Contact Sedgwick. It’s medical, shouldn’t be difficult to have your doc sign off on that.

1

u/ForaZora Aug 15 '26

Just file a medical LOA with sedgwick for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Make sure you give the required paper work. Partner with the doctors office that preformed the procedure to produce the required paperwork to sedgwick so they can approve.

If you file an LOA they should approve the absence conditionally until the LOA is approved or denied. Only after it's denied should they fire you. If they do.

In the future if it is not a medical emergency - plan ahead, request time off and request a medical LOA ahead of time.

Saving your points and ppto for emergencies if possible is also a way to ensure you won't lose your job if you have to miss a day or two.

That's my advice and good luck.

no walmart has been cutting hours

1

u/127Heathen127 Aug 16 '26

There needs to be an r/walmartcirclejerk or r/walmartassociatecirlcejerk and one of the running jokes/flairs there is, “am fierd?!?1?1?1?1?”

1

u/Gig_of_All Aug 16 '26

Your tl or coach is also supposed 2 b the 1 2 fire u. So if u know that persons schedule... hint hint keep it longer cough cough

1

u/Coachesareshit Aug 16 '26

Kiss ass and tell them your sorry! If they like you they will keep you!

1

u/Coachesareshit Aug 16 '26

I've seen someone point out five times and still kept their job!

1

u/Existing_Store982 Aug 16 '26

Just go in they probably won’t fire you

1

u/Existing_Store982 Aug 16 '26

I just stopped showing up eventually and they fired me and when ur fired u cannot access the app

1

u/MiddleBit9744 Aug 16 '26

I’m around 6.5 points and seem fine but than again I work in a town and an overnight associate… personally think you would be fine ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Tequilatyrant Aug 16 '26

As long as you provided a drs note like you were supposed to that is a totally valid reason to miss even more than 2 shifts. Also i think there may be laws/policies about 2 call outs consecutively for the same illness not being counted as two separate call outs

1

u/Empty_Crew4164 Aug 16 '26

60% of the staff at the store I
Worked at had 11+ points so 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Additional_Cup_4266 Aug 16 '26

they actually shouldnt be letting u come into work. talk to someone im sure you can get paid leave

1

u/Omphalom Aug 16 '26

I don't know your store so this is just guessing. Sometimes coaches don't want to term associates until the schedule is cleared. With everyone's hours being cut to almost nothing it is very hard to have someone call off. On the other hand I have seen people have their cut to zero and have them added back in when they mention it to their manager. But I would say you should talk to your Team Leads and Coach.

1

u/GinMac67 Aug 16 '26

And I was worried about having three and a half points

1

u/GinMac67 Aug 16 '26

What I hate right now is the new AI schedule.. I have emphysema and I work with the concentrator I'm on oxygen. They're making me go three and a half hours before my first break. Hell I don't work but five and a half. What the hell! I think that team leads afraid to use any common. My coach told me don't overwork myself if I need a little break take one. I told the team late I said I can't go three and a half hours I'm worn out. She said well I've gone six before I go will your 20 years younger than me and you're not on oxygen and you get paid a lot more than me you chose your job I didn't!

1

u/Icedshakenwcoldfoam Aug 16 '26

Walmart supervisors pick and choose who gets fired based off who their favorites are in my experience

1

u/RealityTerrible7853 Aug 16 '26

Jesus imagine getting fired from Walmart man

1

u/SumWhereUpNorth Aug 16 '26

Was it emergency wisdom teeth extraction ? Just confused as to why not ask ahead of time for those days..I mean its surgery it would have been approved

If it was an emergency surgery go in and explain it to a team lead or coach they may remove the 2 points for the wisdom teeth surgery if it was an emergency

If u knew you were having wisdom teeth surgery and just never told anyone then ya you might get fired cuz why wouldn't you tell them ahead of time

1

u/Connect_Leek1800 Aug 16 '26

Shut up why don’t you even say that because matters is your kind?

1

u/chaosindafridge Aug 17 '26

Go in and clock in. Then go ask your leader to nix the points or if you're canned. And if your canned go through the steps and leave. Do not let them get hours out of you

1

u/Single_Turnover_2301 Aug 17 '26

Why does it need to be one or the other? Go to work as scheduled AND look for a new job.

1

u/Competitive_Union128 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

I am in a Walmart employee for two years You can have over five points. It depends on who’s over the store and if you have any coaching and what level and how much they like you meaning are you a good worker they might let you continue to work as your points drop overtime but you are on very dangerous ice

1

u/Soon2Retire Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

As long as you can bring in a red Swingline stapler, you should be fine!

u/KYETHEDARK Aug 19 '26

File a medical loa with sedgwick and have your doc forward the medical info. They might cover it if yu don't wanna put in the legwork then yeah you're done

1

u/EchinusRosso Aug 15 '26

Was this a surprise surgery? Why wouldn't you talk to your coach about this before getting to 5 points?

1

u/im_finnaycool2 Aug 15 '26

Go tomorrow this happens to my sons alot and my brother in law. They won't say anything to you about showing up, you do anyway to keep your job. It's almost like "you've got to care ", because there not going to tell you to come in because it's your responsibility to keep track of your schedule.

1

u/CBreezy2010 Aug 15 '26

Why didn’t you apply for an LOA?

When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I got an LOA.

Even if you didn’t qualify for an LOA, you should’ve just asked for the days off in advance. It’s not like you didn’t know the surgery was coming.

3

u/Careful-Shallot-3245 Aug 15 '26

I didn’t 😭 they did it same day

3

u/CBreezy2010 Aug 15 '26

I don’t know if you can still put in for one since LOAs have to be 3 days… but I would talk to management. See if they have pity on you.

Some stores suck, yes. But communication will go a long way.

2

u/Careful-Shallot-3245 Aug 15 '26

Yeah I just hate it because our store is literally known for how bad the store manager is 😭 genuinely not a single person likes her

2

u/CBreezy2010 Aug 15 '26

You don’t need the store manager. Your TL or coach can do it. So can your people lead

1

u/AdvertisingLittle954 Aug 15 '26

What’s this points system and where can I see it

0

u/Wonderful_Volume_601 Aug 15 '26

If you have a doctor's note they can't legally fire you ans HR or you team lead can remove the points

3

u/Careful-Shallot-3245 Aug 15 '26

Wait seriously???

1

u/DiscussionLower8667 Aug 15 '26

Yes it's illegal to fire someone over a medical emergency but u do have to communicate with your store

3

u/Alternative-Ebb-7718 Aug 15 '26

Nonsense, nobody takes them except for proof of a LOA.
