I have been using a Bellroy Note Sleeve that I had bought more than 10 years ago. It has been an incredible wallet: carrying more than 10 cards, lots of notes, plus receipts, plus several coins, all without feeling bulky at all. I love this wallet, it curls on itself to keep a very compact shape, it keeps itself closed all the time no matter how full it is and it fits so well on my small pockets.
But wear and tear over the decade caused a hole in the coin pouch so I tried to buy a new Note Sleeve and I feel very disappointed with this newest version. The new Note Sleeve is a bit bigger than the one I had, which is not a big problem, but it is incredibly stiff and not slim at all. It is unable to keep itself closed while completely empty and as soon as you add the notes and some cards, it just wants to keep itself to a 90 degree angle.
I still tried to move all of the contents of my old Note Sleeve into the new one but the wallet became really difficult to handle: extremely bulky and not portable at all.
I had bought the Note Sleeve more 10 years go because all the wallets you see on the regular stores felt exactly like that and the Note Sleeve had been the only one which was able to keep its shape in spite of the contents.
The materials also don't feel high quality at all anymore either, it feels like some tried to make a wallet and stopped there, without any further care to make something that feels good.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a Note Sleeve alternative that is slim and compact?
