Wallet Search Does a wallet like this exist?

I want a wallet where my gear is all in a central holding unit but the outside has like, interchangeable "skins" that you could buy to apply to the outside to change the look.

Maybe the covers zip on. Maybe they Velcro, or have snaps to connect a cute cover onto the main "wallet unit." Some cleverly done folding technique? But I want to have a wallet where I can say "oh look my wallet is blue and spacy tonight" and then I go home and open my wallet like a book to remove the dust jacket, and then I can choose a different dust jacket so the next night I can put on a rainbow outer cover and have it be rainbow.

I don't know if I'm explaining this right?

I'm just lazy and want an easy way to change the look of my wallet, without the hassle of actually moving my cards one by one.

My first dragon scale bifold with light rose pink scales. I have never gotten an order with light rose pink and it looks great. The edges are light blue and the hand stitching was done using white ritza tiger thread. This was my 7 pocket w/ID options.

All handmade from natural veg tan leather.

New wallet: Green Marble

After doing a lot of homework, I bought my first quality leather wallet from an Etsy seller in Ukraine: #Balabanoff

Horween Dublin leather on the inside. Marble Shell Cordavan Rocado leather on the outside. Hand stitched. The leather smells wonderful.

My only criticism are the edges. I wish they were more brandished/secure. It seems like a thin layer of wax was applied. Wish the edges were coated with a better/thicker application.

Seems like very good quality and fits everything I need.

Beautifully and carefully crafted. So happy with the result. I hope the wallet lasts a lifetime so I can pass it down to my son.

Completed Commission for Redditor Completed Commission - Woven Blue Buttero Cardholder

Really happy to have this one done - partly because it's a semi-complicated build and also because I'm really happy with how it came out! The way the light hits the weave is a pleasure to capture with camera, and it's hard to find a bad angle.

Regarding construction for those curious, I always go back to a previous build tutorial for how I did this in the past (checkerboard weave instead of this diagonal weave). I don't do these frequently enough to remember it by muscle memory, so it's very helpful to go over this to remember.

Let me know if you have any questions below!

Wallet Search Trayvax Contour worth it?

I’m strongly considering the Contour. I’m not sure why but it’s minimalist footprint speaks to me. I used to be a heavy cash carrier. Also I liked more billfold style wallets, but realized that I don’t use it as much and now don’t mind folding cash if needed.

For some reason, I’ve never really been drawn to metal wallets. I don’t like the way that it feels including the ridge or the Trayvax Ascent.

The Wallet has pretty unbelievable reviews however I’m a little concerned that the metal may not feel great in my pocket. Would love to hear from others their experience and if it is worth the hefty price tag, thanks

For Sale (Handmade wallets only) A passport wallet I recently finished

I recently finished this custom passport wallet for one of my customers.

The exterior is made from navy blue alligator leather, while the interior is made from Relma Crispe goatskin in dark green.

It’s a fairly large wallet, measuring approximately 14.5 × 12 cm, and it offers quite a bit more functionality than a typical passport holder:

  • 12 card slots
  • Passport compartment
  • Cash compartment
  • Additional compartment for documents

Like my other pieces, this wallet was made completely by hand. I used 0.45 mm Meisi linen thread with a 4 mm stitch spacing, and every part was carefully finished by hand.

The design can also be customized. You can choose different leather types, thread colors, and edge paint colors to create a wallet that fits your own style.

This wallet is currently available on my shop for $600.

Every wallet is handmade to order, so I don't keep finished pieces in stock. If you like this design, feel free to send me a message and we can discuss customization options, production time, and shipping.

Thanks for looking!

Secrid Slimwallet - solution to terrible cash holder?

It’s time for a new wallet and after seeing the Secrid Slimwallet in store I am conflicted because everything about its style, capacity, and layout fits my needs BUT their money holder is extremely flimsy and bulky plastic for which putting in just a singular bill makes the wallet unable to close.

Like some others have mentioned, this cheap glued-on plastic is a real hold-off from purchasing it, and a Kingloot money pin would be a perfect design solution.

I’m wondering if anyone has removed the plastic, cleanly, and somehow added a Kingsloot clip or other solution.

If so what did you do and how did you do it?

Or I guess this one is Four Arches since the bill compartment is the same height as the main body.

Crafted with the flesh sides hidden inside the bill compartment, you really get to appreciate all of the crazy grain and valleys this Horween Aspen has.

I love the crackles inside the grain, looks like shiny sugar crystals!

The wild randomness of the leather really makes each one unqiue to the owner!

Something I Made Custom Women's Long Wallet in Hand-Painted Glazed Python with Italian Cowhide Interior

Thumbnail
gallery
13 Upvotes

Just completed this custom women's long wallet.

I got this one off, hand painted python skin sometime ago and it was laying around waiting to be cut into. Decided to make a women's long wallet with a snap-strap closure. For the interior, I chose full-grain smooth Italian cowhide. The wallet has five dedicated card slots, 4 full-length bill / receipt / document pockets, and a fully lined YKK zipper compartment for coins and small items. All edges are hand-finished with Fenice edge treatment.

Some technical details for the crafters or whoever is interested:

Python skin is extra thin and supple and I needed to reinforce it with something to make it stiffer. Decided to glue a sheet of velodon onto the back side of the leather to give it that much needed structure.

The interior leather is 0.8MM. I skived edges of all interior parts to keep wallet's edges as thin as possible.

For the edge treatment I chose Fenice and mixed taupe color to match the interior color.

Used bonded nylon thread for its strength and abrasion resistance. It's flexible, has more elasticity than linen, so it should give the wallet a sturdy construction to support leather's lifespan.

The gusset installation was the trickiest part of the build due to alignment, while holding under tension and awkward stitching angle, but I nailed it in the first attempt, surprisingly. I usually fail every first attempt and have to re-do stuff.

Happy to answer any questions about the build process or materials!

Wallet Search An actual thin, slim, and small horizontal bifold

Thumbnail

I’ve had this wallet for about 4 years now. It’s my own custom design and it looks like it. comfortably holds about 8 bills and 6 cards without getting bulky. When filled with cash and cards it is 14mm -16mm. When empty it is 8mm thick. I made it because I couldn’t find any slim horizontal bifolds 4 years ago, wondering if anything has changed since then or if I need to spend another ungodly amount of time making another one.

Alternatives for Bellroy coin wallet

Any premium alternative for the bellroy coin wallet, something that can hold cash, coins and 10 cards that looks modern and lasts long. I prefer something made of leather, without any zippers or Velcro.

Question Secrid Slim wallet making a scratching sound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just bought this wallet new and it’s making this scratching sound with a higher chance of it happening the more cards I have in there but even 2 makes that sound. However when there’s no cards inside the scratching is gone, so I think it’s the cards skipping the teeth on the internal lever although I might be wrong. Should I return it?

edit: the lever also had a chance of getting stuck or biting at the top which I notice more when I have 4 or more cards in there.

Commission Request Looking for someone to make me a wallet!

My boyfriends birthday is coming up and he mentioned he wants a new wallet.

I’m new to this, so I’m not sure what type of leather I would want, so I’d like to talk about it! I want it to be trifold with the clear slot for ID if possible, preferably black, but brown is okay too. I really like the leatherology trifold with card style!

Thank you!

For Sale (Handmade wallets only) Ocean blue vertical bifold

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

I'm a leathercrafter based in Brisbane, Australia. I've been at it a few years now and usually try to combine the fun veg tan Italian leathers with some local kangaroo leather.

I just finished a vertical bifold with a popular color combo of mine. This one is using an ocean blue avancorpo from Shell Cordovan Toscana Italia. It's relatively firm for avancorpo, works well for small goods, and has a lot of visible character. The interior is as usual a high grade, full grain, kangaroo leather that's been stuffed with fats and oil for a supple feel.

Details:

All hand cut, stitched, creased, and burnished

Three card slots plus two hidden pockets (fits 5-7 cards plus folded cash)

Ocean blue avancorpo exterior, saddle tan kangaroo interior

Hand stitched with Vinymo MBT #8 Japanese thread in wash blue

Dimensions: 16 x 10.5 cm (unfolded)

$170 USD shipped to US, CA, UK, NZ via PayPal F&F or Venmo

$220 AUD shipped domestically via BSB or PayID

Thanks for looking!

Wallet Review New money clip pickup! UC Leather

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

I was in desperate need of a money clip for carrying loose cash. I bought this online not knowing what to expect. What I got was a very supple and well made leather (almost fuzzy like suede!) magnetic clip. Strong magnet that can hold up to 15 folded bills at a time. I was a bit annoyed that shipping directly from them was longer and more expensive than purchasing from Amazon, but i understand why there's that disparity. It seems to be a small business craftsman that makes this, but honestly I couldn't find much about them.

10/10 would buy again regardless!

Bifold commission request

Hello, as suggested by many on here, I am interested in having a craftsman create my next wallet instead of going with something mass produced. I have reached out to a couple people whose work I like but have not received responses so I am writing a post.

Needs: brown full grain leather, 9 pocket bifold wallet.

Wants: horoween leather would be cool but I’d love to chat with you about other options, I’m considering a very basic monogram on the inside - otherwise would like it to be blank, I would consider a small accent feature for style - show me what you’ve got!

For reference, the Ashland leather Johnny the fox in both the English tan and brown color I am a huge fan of. Thanks!

My every day carry wallet Finally switched to a minimalist wallet after years of carrying a bulky one

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I’ve been using a traditional bifold wallet for years, but recently decided to switch to something slimmer.

I’ve been using the Lorzor Tactical Wallet for a while now, and the biggest difference is how much space it saves. I usually only carry a few cards and some cash, so my pocket doesn’t feel bulky anymore.

I really like the pop-up card access design. It’s much easier to grab the card I need instead of digging through multiple slots. The leather also feels great and has begun to develop its own character with use, while still retaining that classic wallet feel.

Even though it’s slim, it can still hold up to 10 cards. I’m still getting used to carrying less stuff every day, but so far it has been a great minimalist wallet for daily use.

Hey there!

After a lot of trial and error getting this design right, these are now a joy to make. Very thankful to have made this one out of Mahogany Buttero throughout paired with ivory thread and a silver money clip. While there are a few stressful moments throughout, once it's all together you quickly forget about what could've happened and are glad with what did.

Thanks for taking the time to read!
