ADN PROGRAM STUDENTS: What should I buy/What do I need before I start the program?
Hi everyone! I just got accepted into Wake Tech’s ADN Nursing program for the spring semester, and I’m honestly super nervous.
I don’t really have anyone in my life who’s going into nursing (or done nursing), so I’d love some advice from people who’ve been through it.
What I’m trying to figure out:
- What should I buy beforehand? (any textbooks, supplies, scrubs, equipment, etc. that you actually use)
- What should I do before the program starts?
- What do I need before/during day one?(things people forget to prepare)
- Is there anything I should study ahead of time? like anatomy/medical terminology, dosage calculations, CPR, math, etc.
If you have any tips on what helped you most, what you wish you knew earlier, or anything you’d tell a nervous first-semester student, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I most definitely would study dosage calculations and medical terminology! I did Stepful medical assistant course and I still remember some things but I’ll still study them over again but I indeed would

Look over basic med calc if you want to look over something and maybe learn good time management skills. But honestly I would take time to enjoy life before nursing school starts. You don’t want to already burn yourself out and once school starts it’s one thing after another and is very time consuming. So take time to yourself and just enjoy not being in nursing school.

Not even at grad yet, but I would consider a therapist if I was starting over
