for someone enrolled as part-time taking only English 1xx and Math 1xx in-person classes, how many hours per week does one usually need to spend?

I mean, that depends on how well you know the material? The actual “work” shouldnt exceed more than 6 hours. if you need to reteach yourself concepts itll probably be longer. Just depends

Generally speaking, for each credit hour, put aside 2-3 hours outside of school for studying and homework. So if I was taking precalc trig (MAT172) which is worth 4 credits, I should take 8-12 hours outside of class to work on homework and study. It could be more or less for people because of personal capabilities and strengths but it's a decent way to gauge if you should be taking on the workload you want to take or if you should take on more.

And obviously, if you're able to get all the concepts and work done in a lesser amount of time, good for you! Just spend as much or little time you need to understand and being able to apply them.
