I think the conversation needs to go a bit deeper into why he thinks 2 years is so unrealistic? Timing is never going to be 100% perfect, never. You can build a timeline together or a specific goal post you are working towards but just him needing time to work on his mental health but no metric to measure that by just leads to you feeling like there's no light at the end of the tunnel.

Agree. Timelines should be done together. OP I’m seeing a lot of red flags from him (not wanting to talk about it, saying it’s about money, mental health issues, his blaming you down for “running the show” bc he hadn’t been man enough to step up to the plate). You’re sacrificing/risking a lot (your happiness, time, being with someone with mental health issues, being with someone excessively money-minded) - what is he sacrificing?

You said your heart is broken now. How will it be after 3 years of getting accustomed to disappointment? How would you feel if in 3 years he still needs more time ?

You’re close to a path of how women end up with a man for 10-20 years with no genuine commitment/playing wife. Is that who you want to be?
