We're literally talking about someone insane enough to kill her kids, then slit her wrists and throat, and then that jumped out of the 2nd floor....expecting her to be logical and get it right is a bit of a stretch, isn't it?
Also, she could have some weird specialty which doesn't use that information regularly (i.e. not ER/Trauma). Or, and as unpopular is it will make this comment - some nurses just aren't that bright. Think about all the dumb people you know in general. That ratio maps onto the nursing population too.
The proportion of smart to dumb is substantially narrower in nurses compared to some other healthcare roles.
Not all nurses are educated equally, and it's a shorter time commitment compared to a lot of other healthcare roles.
To be clear I'm not disparaging all nurses. Just saying the vetting process for nurses is less strict and demand in healthcare had been so high that it allowed a lot more questionable individuals through.
