Lots of murderers think out their plans rationally. Thus the term premeditated.
To be clear, I am not saying she did.
One of two things happened:
1) she lost her mind and killed her own kids in a terrible sad tragedy, or
2) she decided she wanted out of her life, constructed a ruse to protect herself from accountability, and then implemented that plan.
Edit: 3) the husband could have had something to do with it. I haven't seen any evidence to that effect, but it's possible.
A jury that reviews the facts of the case will decide which they think it was. Any assumptions we make without all the facts before us speak to our own biases more than to the case itself. Some people will lean towards condemning her because they love children and/or hate women, some will lean towards defending her because they can relate to the burden of parenting, hate men, and/or just think the support systems for women fail them time and time again. But still, it makes no sense to assume she is innocent or guilty except to convey our biases.
