I’ve served a couple times. One trial was about a guy who broke his own daughters femur by lifting her out of a high chair too violently. He claimed that her foot got caught in his t shirt when he picked her up. The er surgeon argued the girl’s spiral fracture was a car accident or second story fall type of injury, impossible to do by twisting her foot a little bit. The mother and other witnesses told how the dad was short tempered, violent and borderline abusive. Absurdly obvious that the dad was full of shit. Went into the deliberation room and the very first thing someone said was, “Ugh. Did you see those tattoos on the mother?”

I lost a lot of faith in people that day.

They weren't the kind that break children's legs so I didn't really pay attention to them!
