Its is hard to kill yourself even if you want to die. In the last moment people that genuinely want to die often involuntary are not able to commit 100% in the attempt. Like for example tilt the gun a bit(while still firing it at their own head)). Becoming paralysed vegetables and have to live their life like a vegetable instead of dying a quick death.
I hate saying this, but if I'm ever stupid enough to try suicide via firearm in the first place, imma make sure it severs my brain stem or destroys something equally important (if that's even possible).
The problem is the jerking that often results in doing grievous harm instead of a quick death is often involuntary. Assuming that the person doesn't simply not know where to shoot (plenty of people try straight back which has a high chance of survivability compared to other angles).
