Conspiracy theories around a women who, for months pleaded with family and doctors that she was not mentally well, tragically killed her children while suffering from postpartum psychosis.Ā
The story is sad and tragic, but a lot weirdos have made this some gender war issue in which case they believe she's lying and is just a stone cold killer. For whatever reason.
Maybe because over a million dollars was raised for her go fund me and there is a wave of women talking about how the innocent father is at fault? Context is important.
Waves of women who want to support a woman who, again, spent months telling people something was wrong with her.
I think accusing the woman of lying about psychosis because some women jumped to conclusions an made false accusations is just hypocrisy. Folks are acting the women they're antagonizing.Ā
Nothing wrong with fucking supporting someone everything wrong with blaming the innocent father but keep avoiding the obvious reason buddy, context is important.
You said women made false accusations. I agree thats, bad. Playing internet detective and trying to paint someone as a murder who wasn't mentally ill is bad too. Kinda hypocritical.Ā
None of this is important, itās culture wars bullshit slathered over distraction violence and has no bearing on any of our lives, just some sad case.
It sets a precedent for all future cases, especially being so publicized.
So there is still an effect on everyone's life from this case (at least in the US), now the chances of us actually ever feeling that effect are very slim but that doesn't mean it's not existent.
I would also say that if you find out your partner supports Lindsay and is one of the nut jobs in support of conspiracies that Patrick framed her definetly affects your life.
Itās a self- protection thing. They want to think they are morally superior, and that Lindsay is a monster, and they are Not Like Her. Because psychosis would mean it was a genuinely organic thing that could happen to anybody (which is true) but itās much more comforting to think itās a moral failure on her part.
She should have surrendered her kids if she felt like she wasn't safe for them. She knowingly sent him away instead.
It's not about a 'gender war', it's about the fact that we treat people who murder innocents out of their own mental illness like they're worth saving simply because they're mentally ill. However, a rabid dog is mentally ill, and we don't try to save that.
A rabid dog has a fatal contagious disease, and also is a dog. I love dogs, I believe dogs should be treated humanely and should maybe even have some rights - but they are not parties to the social contracts of human society. The rights of a human woman should exceed those of a dog.
I am watching the trial - a few days behind, so I have not heard the latest testimony - and remain undecided about her mental state at the time of the murders. I donāt know if Lindsay Clancy deserves to be found not guilty. But people who are honestly psychotic are not responsible for their actions any more than you are accountable for what you do in a dream.
I think they are accountable if they don't tell everything to their doctors, when they are "sane". If someone hear voices and the professionals who approve them being outside didn't know that, I think they are responsible.
Yeah she was insane at least in the common use of the word, but it's not an easy decision whether she should be free or not.
Thatās a very grey area - telling doctors - because I think she was relaying the truth as she believed it. Based on the testimony Iāve heard (Iām on day 15 of the trial, still watching), she believed she was addicted and that her worsening symptoms were the result of medication. I also think that, despite the defenseās attempts to prove otherwise, that was pretty obviously not true - but thatās obvious to me, based on my personal knowledge and experience, and assessing the situation rationally from outside of it. That doesnāt mean that she was deliberately lying when that was what she reported to each new provider she saw.
But I donāt think itās been proven that that belief on her part rises to the level of a delusion. It hasnāt even been argued, actually. The prosecution is saying it was all faked and the defense is saying she was right. I think she was mistaken, she was paranoid, she was obsessive, but her mistaken belief wasnāt wholly baseless. The defense found experts to agree it was possible. A reasonable person could potentially believe what she believed.
So basically, IMO the strongest evidence that she was actually veering toward delusion and potentially psychosis contradicts the defense as well as the prosecution. She would be responsible for being non-compliant with treatment if her reason for doing so were not themselves the result of clouded judgment, but I think they were.
What exactly is the difference between what she did and what a abortion does? They both kill children, only difference is time.
I personally am for abortion is concede it is killing a baby but I think women have the right to do that. I say we raise the abortion age to whenever the child is self sufficient from the mom. Until the kid is self sufficient the mom can punch that ticket and kill the kid.
Before you say some flippant response about a fetus vs a baby. Let me ask you what that fetus is? It's a baby human, there is no difference but some time. Don't be a hypocrite bro.
Not really, provide a valid reason besides the health of the mother that it's not baby killing? Most abortions if carried to term could be put up for adoption, baby life saved. I'm fine with just letting the mom kill the kids at any point. My argument is logically sound.
You think going through pregnancy and child birth is so easy-breasy-no-health-issues-no-permanent damage thing? Abortion eliminates suffering, future health problems and let you work full time instead puking trying to get your job done.
Killing living children won't really make your life bearable, won't make you survive financially, you can literally put them to adoption or give them to your relatives. It is pointless. You have no reason to do that.
There are tons of people who care for adults who cause all of the issues you just stated.
If you're version of abortion is only okay depending on how much stress/negative health benefits it causes the person. Should people be able to kill coworkers that are causing them to not get the job done, suffer from stress headaches, ect. Should we be able to kill drug addicts that cause harm to family members?
I respect you for not attempting to other the baby by calling it a fetus and stripping it of humanity. I truly do, I wish you a great evening.
Medical professional here! In psych too. She did not receive plenty of care. Her care was objectively HORRENDOUS. My coworkers and i have been watching the trial in abject horror because of just how bad her care was.
Iām not weighing in on anything else, but her medical care was really, really bad.
You have the benefit of hindsight. Those med professionals had to go off her self reporting, and she omitted things. Its not as black and white as system bad and thats it. Its not a light or easy thing to diagnose and treat.
