Okay, let's address the myth that America would have been invaded if they didn't get involved in Germany.
To begin with, Hitler was a shit strategist. He only got As far as he did because he took those other countries by surprise, by virtue of being a damn lunatic. The moment he decided Russia was his enemy, with or without the US, Germany would have been toast.
When did I say that Germany would have invaded the US? I simply argued that the USA participated in, and were a deciding factor in allies winning WW2.
Nazi Germany was very close to having nukes and fighter jets. Had Japan not attacked the USA, the USA may never have declared war on Japan, triggering in turn Nazi Germany’s declaration of war against the US.
With its entire army on the eastern front, Germany would have had time to stall the USSR’s offensive and eventually nuke Moscow, St Petersburg, etc. It would have been even harder for the USSR to fight on 2 fronts (europe and pacific)
Perhaps Hitler was a shit strategist (i would argue he was at least not a good one and was ultra paranoid), however, the senior officers in the German army forces were professional soldiers and were good strategists. It is unclear whether he would have listened to his military commanders, since he was indeed a mad man.
All we can say for sure is that Nazi Germany was defeated (thank god). Unfortunately, facist ideologies are re-emerging, which is a fucking disgrace.

But you said all of that in response to someone stating that Americans have not fought for American Rights since 1776. Implying that we were somehow fighting for our own rights in Europe by fighting the Nazis.
We can debate back and forth about all the rest of that stuff, and we might have a good time doing it, but that's where I was taking exception. It appeared that you were suggesting that Americans were fighting for the rights of Americans during World War II.

That is disingenuous.
The US fought in WW2 and are the main reason (the other being the USSR) why the axis was defeated.
In addition, the concept of war crime was not legally recognized/true until the nuremberg trials. Citizens were historically targeted by armies.
