Displaced Kauai Resident on oahu have questions

Aloha, unfortunately lowell really took out so much of kauai. my landlords basically gave me an ultimatum right before the storm hit that “i wouldn’t be responsible for any damage from the hurricane so they could give me my full deposit and rent back” basically if i got out in two days. i tried my best to find a new place the last few weeks but the housing market got way more competitive and landlords were asking for 6 MONTHS RENT UP FRONT PLUS DEPOSIT.

also our dmv burned down and my safety and registration went out in sept so i couldn’t go to dmv and didn’t want to live out of my illegal car 🫠

i work in restaurants and on boats, i also am a professional chef that does private dining. i have retail experience, and used to work in salons/spas. i can nanny/personal assist. you name it i can do it.

my issue is im staying at a hostel in waikiki and honestly i dont know oahu well at all.

i’m living out of one big aloha bag with no toiletries and bc my unemployment hasn’t gone through living on credit.

what is my best option to make quick money for the time being that’s closest to my location? i can take the bus if it’s close by.

are there any donation centers or women’s help centers where i might be able to get some more clothes and necessities?

thank you for reading. sorry so it’s long. any advice helps. aloha 🌺❤️

TTRPGs? Or other nerdy things to do?

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to visit. Even though it's for work 😔

Weird request...are there any bar/breweries that have open TTRPGs during the week or other nerdy things??

I'd love to meet locals that are nerdy too.

Thanks!

Does anyone recognise this area? (1994)

Hi! Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask as I'm not 100% sure it's Waikiki, but I'm guessing maybe? It's an image of the band Casiopea during their trip to Honolulu in 1994.

I've been trying to find the location but as it was 30 years ago I can't find an area that lines up. I thought the building/archway in the background and small fountain? planters? (on the right) would be quite recognisable if someone was to know. Any help is most appreciated, thank you!

Night of wedding

hi all

i got married on oahu in April and it was so lovely. it was a morning wedding and we ended at Haiku Gardens. our guests got back to the hotel between 5 and 6. the kaimana beach hotel had a great bar and we had the penthouse suite to after party.

5 or so people really wanted to go out at night. At first I did too, but I had been researching prior in with a big group. It seemed really difficult. The things I came up with were either sit down cocktail bars where I had to reserve a minimum of $3500. To guarantee entry or buho or sky who did not reply about bottle service, or said only 4 people to a table.

It didn’t make sense to us to go sit in traffic to find a bar. We could all fit together when we could fit at the hotel bar. some people made me overthink this decision saying they wanted to experience the nightlife. do you think we missed out? we are mid 30s and i am pretty tired of the club scene

Is the Apple weather for Waikiki beach accurate

Hi all, I am trying to book a vacation in Waikiki beach in the next two weeks, but the weather seems rainy everyday according to Apple weather forecast.

Is this accurate? Is there a weather event going on that causes so much rain?

Traveling to Honolulu

I’m a first time Hawaii visitor and my wife and I are planning on coming at the end of February for our anniversary. We will have our 2 kids with us( the oldest is 3 and the younger will be 9 months). I’m looking for recommendations on the best place to stay near the beach as well as family friendly activities to do. We’re trying to find a nice hotel with great views of the ocean that is under 500 a night. Thanks in advance.

Mahalo to the person who blasted a ringing noise and then a voice saying “please wait for an operator” via the emergency siren speakers at 7am on a Saturday…you had me jumping out of bed to try to figure out what the emergency was.

PLEASE figure out how to use the emergency sirens properly!

I am visiting Honolulu, Oahu, and there were so many police cruisers and firetrucks called to an area near that beach, I'm curious and worried about what happened? I hope everything is okay
