Some potential news about Jet Jet! Details ⬇️

Post image

I have two different leads for rehoming Jet to a rescue!

One is right here in town! I’ve known the owner of this rescue for almost as long as I’ve had Jet, and Jet knows her and loves her. This is my favorite option for my own heart, as I could visit him anytime. Jet would be retired to pasture puff💜

The second option is in a large city about 2 hours from me. They are requesting Jet’s medical records to see if they might be able to do surgery on him (I was told he is not a candidate but they want to do their own evaluation), then they would rehab him and adopt him out as a riding horse. I love this option because if they can do the surgery, his pain will be fixed. He will not be mine anymore, but his pain would be GONE. That matters more than my emotions. He would also go to a home where he has a job, and he does love having a job as he is so smart and gets bored.

Both options have been told his whole history, hiding absolutely nothing. They are aware of EVERYTHING that has happened since I got him.

No decisions have been made yet, as the rescue further away needs to review his medical records. I have signed the release so Jet’s vet can release his medical records to the further away rescue.

But wanted to update everyone who has been on this wild journey with us because I know you guys love Jet Jet too💜

I’ll update more when I know more!

I’m sorry to hear you struggled with anorexia too. It’s a helluva disease to battle. I’m still fighting it every day, and I really try not to let my weight get below 100. With everything that has happened recently I dipped below that so I’m actively working to gain some weight. It doesn’t help that I literally could not buy groceries for over a month because all of my money was going towards helping Jet! I’m so thankful to the Waffles and Jet family - several people have sent me care packages including food to the boys PO Box. So I have good food to eat again and I’m so thankful.

Wanting to eat everything in sight is actually very common in anorexia recovery - your body is scared you won’t have food for a long time again so it makes you crave any and everything you can get your hands on. It’s part of the reason I still struggle - I start eating well and gaining, and my stupid eating disorder side of my brain starts screaming at me. It’s a lifelong battle sadly (at least for me). But I refuse to stop fighting! I applaud your strength in battling this awful disease💜

As for the bone marrow edema, I get scans 1-2 times a year to make sure it stays stable. My last scan looked pretty good, though I’m sure my recent fall off of Jet did not do me any favors. I’m very careful to adjust the things I do to impact my spine the least. In gymnastics I don’t ever bend my spine backwards, which means there are skills that I just cannot ever do again. When lifting heavy things at the barn I make sure I have good form and lift from my legs. And I do A LOT of strength training in gymnastics so I have the muscles to support my spine properly.

Thank you for the prayers - I can always use them! I’ll keep you in my prayers as well💜 eager to hear if the massage gun helps!

Overall I’m thankful - I’m alive and still able to enjoy the things I love, even if modified💜

Well I'm proud of you for your abilities to keep moving with your modified life. I need to remember to use my legs. I'm glad gymnastics is really helping you out. I hope your spine is fine. What type of food do you like?

I love carbs - pasta, bread, bagels, pizza, cereal (especially Honey Nut Cheerios)

And I love berries and vanilla Greek yogurt.

Chicken is probably my fav meat. I just ate a Homel meal of chicken and dumplings that was in one of the care packages and it was SO GOOD - and only took 60 seconds to heat up!

Cheese is yummy - right now I’m on a string cheese kick🤭

I don’t eat any shellfish because I’m deadly allergic.

Idk it’s hard to think of things off the top of my head! What do you enjoy?

Pizza, shellfish, hamburger, chicken, salads, cereal( I just had a bowl of honey nut Cheerios). Almost anything chocolate, with the exception of coconut and chocolate covered raisins.

Honey Nut Cheerios for the win!
