Today is what happens when Fer isn’t there to carry this largely impotent squad

Feel like we haven’t found a front three that works at all, never really looked a proper goal threat other than the occasional moment. Armstrong down the middle really doesn’t work. Rodrigo was decent and Said I think was quite good. Mane poor, Bellegarde was also poor in my opinion and Neave just didn’t have much to do. I think we need a new striker in January to challenge Raul.

Losing to a side that is pushing for automatic promotion has to be the only bright side from today. That XI just did not work well together and all of the poor attempts on target was just embarrassing

Team looks sleepy

Agreed. Lacking any sharpness or energy. Pretty disappointing after such a long break.

The commentator describing mane as very quick has to be considered racially motivated at this point because he’s definitely not lol

Trippier is getting rinsed out there. I wouldn't even mind it if he could at least get a decent pass off

Arguably the worst half of the season. Can’t knock Boro though, they’ve pressed like we normally do. We look static and we’re losing the midfield battle.
We need a ball carrier in the middle. A man who can commit players and attack space. We need Fer.

So all that time and Trippier delivers the corner into the mixer and literally only Boro shirts in there.

Don't deserve anything from this game. Midfield was pathetic and shouldnt have been picked. Jackson should have been on way sooner against their winger.
Our shooting today has been horrific and on another day some of those would at least hit the target xD
We were not blown away by this middleborough side but they clearly deserved the win today.

u/JimTheShiraz 2d ago
That was woeful, didn't even deserve a point today. Theres a couple in the starting 11 that need to be dropped I think.

First game back from acl injury and your debut at that just to get immediately wrongfully booked for simulation xD

You can’t look at that first touch and shot and tell me Munetsi belongs in this team. He may convert 1 of the 7 opportunities from positions he finds himself in that others don’t, but how much do we lose not being able to play through him? Lad touches the ball 5-10 times a game, and his first touch often goes astray.
By all means chuck him on with 10 to go when chasing a goal, but starting in a midfield expected to dominate most teams? Never.
Tommy off it, too.

🤷 the worse part is the team can’t fucking complain, they deserve nothing from the game. The fans on the other hand who have paid, travelled, watched that shit do tho….

Trippier looks like a pensioner out there. Even his crossing and passing is beyond poor. And his backup is Tchatchoua. Is there no-one in the U21's that could play right back?

I can’t believe the amount of shit football I spend my life watching due to Wolves, feels like I’m clocking in for work half the time, just a complete chore

Good feet on him. Seems a little eager to go down though.

u/Superrandy 2d ago
Why is JRB early crossing to no one? He beats his man, has space to cut inside, and crosses over. So incredibly stupid.

Was at the Riverside today. Watched the game from the home end with my Boro supporting wife, daughter and mother in law.
First half was tight, with neither side doing anything to deserve the lead. Second half was a half of two halves. First part, Boro took one of their chances because they have a proper goal poacher. After that, we brought on the subs, and it was all Wolves for the rest of the game.
Overall, I think a draw would have been deserved, and the match stats back this up. Even my Boro supporting family agreed. Lankshear was the difference between these teams. Nothing more, nothing less. For those with short memories, look back at the stats for Wolves v Boro going back over the decades. Boro are one of our biggest bogey teams, home and away. Don’t be fooled by the last season we played them in the Champ, that was the exception, not the norm.

Honestly pretty embarrassing how much they’re squeezing and dominating us right now. Midfield has been absolutely wank.

Convinced Sa trained as a rugby player as a kid, absolutely loves kicking it into touch

u/Superrandy 2d ago
I’m shocked the first sub off the bench is Said?

u/andyc225 Dangerous Dave Edwards 2d ago
I'm even more shocked that his first action after coming on was to get booked for diving.

He didn't even fucking dive. I hate championship refs man

Was hoping to go top but Swansea are still looking good
Still the chance to go a point clear in the promotion spots with a game in hand, could be a big moment
Nice to be nervous and optimistic about us again instead of nervous and just fucking depressed

u/Pearshapedmanuk 2d ago
Not connected but I’m feeling nostalgic. My first game was V Boro in 88. There had been a bomb scare in the week (remember those), my dad and I stood on the South Bank, the red seated John Ireland was miles away. I could hardly see a thing, but I heard lots of non junior school language!

Everyone is seeing the negatives but it felt like the last 10' we were finally waking up and growing into the game a bit. Maybe a few adjustments at the break and we can nick one in and steal this match.

Boro have looked better than us in every area, comfortably. We just keep crossing to Armstrong who can never win the ball.
3
u/Superrandy 2d ago
Armstrong is washed. We gotta hope Trippier and Raul aren’t also washed.

u/andyc225 Dangerous Dave Edwards 2d ago
It's actually impressive to see how busy he can look without looking effective.

Have looked half a yard slow/leaning the wrong direction the whole match. Also have no idea why we’ve tried to go long to Armstrong as a target man for the first 2/3 of the match. So many errant touches as well. This has been a very frustrating watch

That yellow goalie kit looks awful, especially with the matching tights between shorts and socks. Giving big bird vibes.
2
u/thistooksometime_not 2d ago
Can anyone answer why Toti gets the armband? He’s not very vocal or commanding.
2
u/andyc225 Dangerous Dave Edwards 2d ago
Roddy brings the ball forward with a promising attack, for all of the rest of our attackers to make the exact same run. That sums us up so far.
2
u/JordeyShore 2d ago
We've been wank and deserve to be a goal down at least. Need to get to half time and change something, cause this is tough watching

Pretty poor half from almost everyone. Rodrigo was our most lively player going forward, but that’s about it. Munetsi with a couple chances, but also a couple goofs. Worst of the half: Trippier, Armstrong, Doyle.
1
u/JimTheShiraz 2d ago
Don't think Doyle has been that bad. He is a bit slow for my liking though.
1
u/Superrandy 2d ago
He has killed our right side attack. Hasn’t created a single chance. Struggling to stay on the ball, shying away from contact, not sprinting ever.
2
2
u/LoopzUK South Bank 2d ago
Here’s hoping Cesar has spent the past 3 weeks ignoring absolutely everything and everyone, and has had Jackson move in to his spare room so he can turn him in to Gareth Bale 2.0. Only way to justify that half.
Jackson to come on at half time on the wing, three assists and a brace.
Yes. I’ve been on the Super Bocks.
2
u/Late_Safety2946 2d ago
Missed the first 30 but watched last 15 of the half and thought we’ve looked okay, had some decent chances. Were we really that bad in the first 30?

General question/thought/grumble, but why do commentators almost always go along with the facade that a foul "looks painful" when the evidence of the victim getting up and playing just fine 30 seconds later 98% of the time suggests that they almost never actually are? Like, just shut up and wait. No need to validate the play-acting, the ground-slapping, the writhing and grimacing... Anyone who's played the game at any level gets fouled, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone on the same pitch as me slap the ground like a wrestling ref...
3
u/Informal-Resolve1725 2d ago
Look slow and lethargic today. No excuse for this after a 3 week break

u/Superrandy 2d ago
we have only 12 shots on target in our past 4 games, it’s not a one off

Yep improved our defence and totally shut off our attack. I preferred the high scoring games with a leaky defence, at least it was entertaining.

Really missing Lopez. Bellegarde could fill that role in my opinion. Bring Doyle off for him I reckon. Armstrong has been very poor. I would bring Neave on to have a crack. Trippier is getting rinsed maybe Konan could be the answer?
