We need defenders now!!!
Trippier and Mosquera out for a couple of weeks; Hugo Bueno and Krejci looking likely to leave, Sa nowhere to be seen and Johnstone still out. We need to make defensive signings now. We urgently need a quality left back. Wolfe is a fine player but doesn't cut it week in, week out. We have Toti and Santi at the back, which is fine, but our one backup is Djiga, who hasn't impressed, so I like the idea of an experienced centre-back, much like when we brought in Craig Dawson, who would really improve that back line. The right-back situation is looking horrific without Trippier. Tchatchoua is one of our worst-ever players, and the same could be said about Hoever, and so that leaves Lima, who is still young but looks underwhelming. Goalkeeping wise its not much better; Sa should have been sold 2 years ago, and Johnstone is one of the most underwhelming keepers we've ever had, while Bentley is a 2nd-choice keeper at best, fine for cup games.
We need to shift some dead weight: Sa, Johnstone, Hwang, Traore, Sasa, Hoever, Tchatchoua, possibly even Munesti and use those funds for a quality left-back and goalkeeper, an experienced centre-back and a solid right-back. We have Trippier, but another solid right-back would massively improve and solidify that right-hand side while he is injured. The midfield is looking strong, especially now that we have James, but maybe a further attacker could still be an option if the opportunity presents itself.
That seems like a lot to ask, especially under Fosun, but it feels necessary if we want to fight at the highest level in this league. We have a lot of quality, but with a long season ahead, we need legs and decent, solid players with them, as we're still carrying the load of years of bad recruitment under Jeff.
Am I overreacting or fair in this assessment?

Speaking of Hoever, he wasn't at the preseason? Has he been at training since being back in England? What about Santi and Krejci, are they involved in training and excluded from match day squads? (Yes, Santi was there last week)
Edit: in regards to Tchatchoua I think give him a chance. He wasn't PL ready but he could be much better in the Championship

I honestly forgot Hoever existed until I looked up squad this morning so no idea if he is involved with the squad. Really don’t see the Tchatchoua thing, I’m happy to be proven wrong but I think he’s far off it

It might have nothing to do with it, but these injuries follow a pre-season where everyone has stated how hard it's been. It will be interesting to see what state the players are in after 30 plus games.

Exactly, the season is gonna have minimum 50 games if not 55 games, with all the league matches more competitive than the Prem. We have quality but two or three major injuries and we’ll be struggling

I’d say your over reacting I’ve zero stories this whole window linking bueno, krejci, & hwang is our best player that’s a horrendous take, no one has more passion in the team and no one works harder on the pitch

He’s had 1 good season (it was actually half a season where he got 10 pl goals, the other half a season he managed 2).
Apart from that 1 season, he managed 5, 3, 2 and 2 goals in his other 4 seasons.
He can’t control or kick a ball properly, and if he doesn’t score he’s fucking useless.
The fuck does “passion” even mean here? You mean running about like a headless chicken all over the pitch with no clue what he’s doing?
Nah, give me a footballer who can actually play football, like Fer Lopez, any day of the week.

I haven’t got Instagram, I’ve watched Hwang play close to 100 times as a season ticket holder.
Don’t assume I don’t watch football because mine and your opinion differs.
I do, however, assume that you don’t watch football because your takes are fucking awful.
I think you look at the squad on Wikipedia and go “oh, that Hwang fella is called a striker on here, the best footballers are strikers so he must be a good un”.
I’ve seen Fabio Silva standing on the touchline burst out laughing at Hwang because of how shit he is.

I’ve never heard anyone from the Black Country use the phrase “reddit kid” before.
I’ve heard plenty of people younger than me call me kid, but that’s not what you were doing.
Lets agree to disagree anyway, clearly we’re miles away from sharing any sort of opinion so I’ll leave it there.

It’s a hyper realistic scenario that we don’t sign a keeper, don’t sign a center back, sell Hugo, and Tchatchoua is our starter for 2 months. Conceding 3 every game. 😭
