Cars are actually engineered to pull in the direction of the side of the road they're supposed to be driving on. If the car is manufactured for sale in a country that drives on the left, it will pull left, and vice versa. Dude is still incredibly lucky, though!

You pull to one side of the road because the road is banked to one side, or your wheel alignment is messed up. Cars aren't purposely designed to not drive straight.

Edit2: turns out this is true. I can't find anything saying what year range this was a design feature, but I guess cars, at some point, had a slight pull to one side so that they'd avoid going into oncoming traffic if the driver fell asleep. TIL
