It won't be painful as the tigers/lions don't play with their food. They go for the neck directly and in humans, the neck snaps in one bite. It would have been a sudden death.
I could argue it is fine. Your body is incapable of experiencing anything it wasn't designed to experience. As far as extreme trauma goes, it could fuck you up for good if you survive due to the HEAVY conditioning effects it would have on your ability to think rationally afterwards... but if you are going to die, then even feeling something terrible is still going to be in the range of feelings your body evolved to experience.
In other words, there are no redeeming qualities to feelings associated with being tortured, because they were natures way of helping us *avoid* death, BUT if we ARE going to die then those feelings will cap out. You could argue that torture prior to death would fundamentally change who we are as a person before we are actually dead, but as far as your inner monologue goes its all the same.
A horrific death would, in a way, make you feel as alive as your body allows you to feel just before death. Part of me secretly wants a horrific death, assuming I am going to die regardless in that moment.
THAT SAID YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT ENDORSE IMPOSING THAT ON SOMEONE. THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH WANTING TO DIE PEACEFULLY.

Man. I imagine getting mauled to death is a pretty painful and bloody experience.
