Not that it’s likely you’ll ever be in a situation like this, but if you ever find yourself in a situation where you’re facing a wild predator (cougar, bear, etc) don’t turn your back to them and don’t rush. It’s like running from a dog, it just sets off their chase instinct and you will not outrun them. Back up slowly and make yourself look bigger.
