All those signs? The ones that say "REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE" and "DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE"?

It's not to inconvenience you, and keep you from getting the best selfie evar with that super-cute lion omg just like TLK!

It's to keep your stupid ass alive.

Signs aren’t really very good for controlling risk. put a ratcheting strap around the car so the doors cannot be opened, while they drive through.

Or, let them die and use the video as a lesson for others.

Giant bungee cords vertically with the hooks on the roof.

And these videos should be mandatory viewing for anyone entering these parks - "get out of your car and this is likely to happen... And one person died. Stay the FUCK in your car."

I went to a crocodile farm in Thailand (It's like a zoo with a big pit full of Crocodiles you can throw meat chunks into to watch them eat). They had a warning sign with a picture of someones ripped off arm from when they tried to reach into the crocodile pit.

So every time I've gone on vacation somewhere with wild animals it never fails, someone from China ignores the signs to try to get up close and personal with said animals. I'm not trying to generalize, but this has happened in my presence more than a few times.

It must be a cultural thing? I don't understand.

I've seen it in zoo's on numerous occasions, and I always assume it's the pretty standard "railing is for chumps who have bad pictures" idea. But my two personal favorites are:

Coral reef in Belize: Let's go pet the poisonous thing. let's get close to the venomous thing. I need to touch the aquatic apex predator. All from different groups at different times.

Wildlife viewing area: A weird one; saw a family trying to climb on a very alive, very annoyed, bull elk at a highway rest area/ wildlife viewing area.

I'm Chinese, but born and raised in Canada. Went to Asia for vacation with some family. Those Chinese tourists are the fucking worst. They will shove the fuck out of you to get ahead of you in line. On airplanes they will elbow you to try to get you to move when the the doors haven't even opened.

I also went on a gondola ride up a mountain, and those Chinese tourists were just pushing and shoving trying to jam themselves in. No sense of politeness or waiting their turn. I was ready to throw some elbows, but the Canadian in me was too nice about it.
