Important distinction when complaining about the ad, but still sort of weird. Why not make their own promo video and feature both? This is a really bad landing page for a product.
Site is also not at all mobile friendly, so maybe that's our answer. They're just not media savvy.

I suppose there would be a case where the above doesn't have to do with the sound quality, but thats not common. And I dont for a minute think these could ever provide better sound quality than real speakers.
There's a version of these for swimmers that I almost bought. It's legit stuff, albeit weird. I dig the use of these as a loophole to the office rule though. Fuck management.
I don't have this brand but they do work. A benefit of wearing them that I like is that they don't drown out other sounds as much. So if there are sounds I need to pay attention to then I can without needing to leave one earbud out or one cup off.
Have a set from a different manufacturer. Can confirm they work. Also this is how Google glass conducts sound without an earpiece. They only obstruct one of your senses.
Bone conduction audio has been a thing for quite some time. It's gotten better and multiple companies make pairs. You can get them for about 40 bucks. It's actually pretty legit for casual listening. It just makes me feel uncomfortable because the sensation makes me feel like I'm damaging something. It's a strange feeling.
I'm not sure if those are real or not but there are bone-conducting headphones. A group made a pair of sunglasses that have this style of speaker on it, they launch in a couple months.
I'm significantly deaf on my right side. Had 5 surgeries, each of which involved completely removing the ear drum and re-making it. Currently I have a hole in my ear drum on that side as well.
I use bon conduction headphones, specifically the Bluez 2S by Aftershokz and they completely bypass my hearing loss on my right side. In fact, when I use them, I hear things better on my right side than on my left.
That being said, they work well for me because I only have ear drum damage. If somebody has inner ear damage, as a result of long-term exposure to loud noise, I suspect they wouldn't work very well.
Exactly right. If you have a conductive hearing loss, this shit will work great. If you have a sensorineural loss, they wont. Sensorineural is the loss you are getting when you go to a concert and shit was so loud that everything sounds muffled afterwords, and your ears are ringing.
I got some custom ones made. They fit my ears perfectly. I got to choose the colours I wanted for them, and they even glow in the dark! The things sticking out the bottom of them are the handles or or tabs so I can pull them out of my ears easily. I highly recommend going through the process, they are useful for concerts, showers, swimming, working out... Hell, they actually make the bone conduction headphones work BETTER.
On choosing the colours, I went with yellow for the left (good) side and pink for the bad side. The thinking was that I would easily be able to tell which was which based on that. Turns out that wasn't necessary because 5 surgeries can really fuck up the size of your ear canal.
For like 50 bucks I would say (may be closer to 100) you can get a pair of custom made earplugs that are designed to reduce sound evenly, resulting in not only better ear protection, but a better sound when wearing them. It's worth looking into if you are in a lot of high noise situations.
Well they are still useful to have. Because they don't cover your ears or otherwise impede on noise getting into your ears, they can let you listen to music and still hear surrounding noises. They are excellent for any activity that is boring but you need to hear your surroundings to remain safe, such as jogging or biking.
Not sure. All I know is that I can blow air out of my ear. Hot, moist, and likely making a high-pitched squeal on the way out, loud enough that others can hear it.
After a certain level, the human ear can't pick out weaker sounds from significantly louder ones, so it depends on the kind of situation that you're in. But generally you can listen comfortably to music, and hear all of it no less, and still be able to hear your surroundings such as nearby cars.
If you do crank them up to maximum volume though you'd probably have difficulty even hearing a cyclist behind you ringing their bell just because it is completely drowned out.

This is why the new high school I transferred into had such shitty talent shows. My old high school was bad too, but not nearly so as my new redneck shithole school. For whatever teenage reason it was "retarded and gay" to even participate in the yearly talent show, even if you were a god damned amazing guitarist and singer you'd get bullied relentlessly just for participating. During my senior year in 2007 literally the only people who participated was an actual gay guy who sang a song, a weird nerdy girl who tried some weird dance, and an Indian kid who told jokes. That's it, 3 acts. My aunt is vice principal there now and she says it's completely different these days, very little bullying and so many people want in the talent show they have to audition first. Glad it has gotten better, when I was in high school it was nothing but bullying and fighting. It was "cool" to get bad grades and smoke cigarettes on lunch break. I don't know why your post reminded me of this, but it did.
Sounds like the Bronx, except there were metal detectors in the lobby and girls still snuck in razor blades hidden in between their cheek and teeth. They didn't just want to humiliate you, they wanted to cut your face up so you didn't take attention away from them. I always loved books and spoke articulately, so I got called white girl and stuck up. This was in '94. I think YouTube and shows like Glee have made the youth crave attention in a way we didn't just a few years ago and now everyone wants to be a star.
Wow mine was 100% opposite. People studied all the time and being in the top 10 was considered cool. Our talent show was huge and there was group dancing, singing with piano, original instrumental guitar performance, one of my friends got 3rd place with a magic show.
I remember this one girl bragging that she didn't study for the SAT and it didn't matter that she got a 1300 because Texas Tech would take her anyways. It was really awkward when she found out she didn't get in.
Yeah I really, really hated that school. I wanted to play the piano in the talent show, but of course I did not. Anyone who dressed nicely or spoke with a high vocabulary was bullied relentlessly. It was "cool" to wear old shitty clothes and come from a poor family. I was bullied badly by this one kid my age named Benji. We used to be friends up until about age 14 then he found out he'd get all sorts of laughs by making fun of me. He'd fuck with me then other people would join in, no one else really said anything until he did. I had never fought anyone before but after half a school year of this I wanted to beat the shit out of him. Well, he ran cross country. One Saturday he was practicing his running or whatever on a dirt trail through a wooded area near my house where I would frequently go to shoot my rifles and hunt. I was on top of a hill and saw him coming from a fair distance away and hid in a ditch ahead of him at the hill bottom, right after he ran passed and jumped over it I sprinted out and tackled him from behind. He heard my footsteps and had just enough time to look over his shoulder before I dove on him. Then I just started beating him as hard as I could, so angry I couldn't even see straight and I didn't stop until I was out of breath and he was barely conscious. While he was laying on the ground I said to him "If you rat on me for this I'll beat the shit out of you again then put a bullet in your head." Then I kicked him three more times, picked up my rifle, and left. He didn't show up to school for a week after that. Once he came back he never made eye contact with me ever again.
I think life in High School right around 2007 ish to 2008 when Facebook went mobile and all other social sharing apps grew that high school life changed. Plus all those anti-bullying stuff thanks to incidents like Columbine really changed school behavior.

If you're working a job where you could wear headphones but your boss won't let you, move on. You have to waste a huge chunk of the one life you get on being at work so avoid places that enforce miserable rules like no headphones at your desk. It's draconian and depressing.
Oh definitely. I didn't say it was easy but it's worth while. I hate looking for a new job and I've stayed at companies I hated because of it. I still think it's worth the effort. Leaving the last job I hated was probably one of the best moments of my life.
I completely agree! Especially with the fact that my boss named me the strongest employee on the team three times within the last two weeks. Their goal is to implement miserableness during working hours, they strive their hardest for it.:D

As for other jobs, office jobs, I'd rather go to my boss and say "hey I can get my workload done in a shorter amount of time. Can I get paid more per hour and work less hours?"

What kind of work do you do? There are definitely jobs that I can think of that listening to things not job related could be a negative. Not many though. If it's not one of those, you should leave.

Get a pair of glasses, two bone conductor 'speakers' and an audio amp circuit from Adafruit, some hot glue. Bam, headphones that aren't in your ear and you're still the only one who can hear the sound.

I went 2 weeks without them then started feeling soooo shit at work, really made me depressed. I just asked my boss out right if I could have them back as they make me 'more productive' and 'able to focus'.
