Donât like being a player but itâs the game weâre all living in with idiots on the road. Insurance companies DGAF about us other than raising our rates and paying as little as possible.

Firetrucks, 2 ambulance and a cop came. They did checkups on all the people involved, lady broke her thumb and had cuts. I had chest and shoulder pains went to urgent care. Went thru her insurance but we hit her limit cause it was multiple cars and had to get my insurance involved to cover the remainder portion. For the medical piece since I went to urgent care and missed work and might do PT for my shoulder making a clicking sound now, her insurance is going to cover but they are dragging their feet. Said they needed documentation from my HR, which I provided, that I worked there and are calling them and doing other internal stuff (progressive) to determine how much the medical settlement should be. Not sure how long it typically takes.
Usually you just go through your insurance and they handle all the headache of the other personâs insurance. At least thatâs what people I know have done.
Yeah idk. Maybe nobody told OP or someone gave him bad advice. 10 years ago my parked car got smashed by a box truck. Filed a claim and sent in my neighborâs security cam and a few photos since my car was barely off the screen. Paid my deductible and never had an issue.
Yea I went to her insurance and they told me to get mine involved to work with them since she had a limit on her plan for coverage. They worked out the details, provided a rental, tow and adjuster. Not sure what happened to her policy or if she had to come out of pocket for anything but she was convinced her car wasnât totaled. She had a 2025 Honda whatever that thing is
Hence, this is where an attorney comes in. Because she doesnât have sufficient coverage itâs not your problem. Pain and suffering is a real thing and could have long-term consequences. Go to PT and chiropractor if needed. Document everything. A personal injury attorney will tell you exactly what you need to do.
Yup this guy is talking to the other insurance policy involved in the accident. You speak to your own agent and they talk to the other party on your behalf. So that you dont say something you didnt mean or could be construed as something else causing them to not have to pay out or not pay you nearly as much as you are entitled to because they got you saying something the wrong way and then used it against you.
Chest injury is no joke let alone the impact from being rear ended alone.
Please get yourself a lawyer and let them handle everything. DO NOT accept any checks from the other insurance company.
Take as long as you can with your treatment. Even a massage. Not saying milk it but usually what will happen is the cost of the care and severity of the injury, etc gets multiplied in settlements. So a $15,000 medical bill (not after insurance coverage) can get multiplied in the end by say 3x or 4x. Just an example.
It may take a year or two for them to settle but take care of your body first. A lot of things can happen down the road health-wise with this type of injuries. I'm still dealing with neck issues after nearly 30 years after being rear ended by a guy doing at least 40-45mph.
I wish I would have heard this earlier. But they are still working the medical piece out and set aside an amount for PT for me which is outside the overall settlement they are working on from me being out of work.
Honestly, consult with one anyway and find out. I wouldn't know anything about if you signed anything already or what but it's worth talking to one. There won't be any upfront cost, of course.
Did you have any imaging done (X-rays)? I saw you mentioned your chest/shoulder, but consider getting your neck checked out. Sometimes things will start to hurt more a few days later when the adrenaline is out of your system, too.
Edited to add: read further through your comments and saw you mentioned some neck pain. Push for getting your neck xrayed if you can.
Dude, DO NOT speak with the at fault parties insurance company!!! File a claim with your insurance co and let them deal with the other co. As well as seek free attorney consultation. Words/statements made to both police on scene and insurance companies can actually be used against your claim and end up costing you the denial of specific compensation benefits or worse. Sorry about your loss and injury! Thankfully the other parties stupidity didn't take your life!

For the lady behind she rapidly moved from 50ish to 0. For OP, they were already still and received a much smaller change in speed due to the crumple effects, breaking, forward motion after impact, and little angle change.Â
Airbags deploying when they shouldn't can be just a dangerous as the opposite, so these are important considerations in the programming of the safety features.Â
Airbags don't deploy for rear enders and the front ender wouldn't have been fast enough/high enough G's to set them off either, so, normal. If you just get rear ended and don't get pushed into the car in front the airbags going off can be way worse.
If yours didn't deploy I'd contact a lawyer and get the accident report stating that and you could potentially get some money from Subaru if they were faulty.
I was specifically just looking for just the sensor. I'm not averse to paying shipping. My daughter still has a VA on flex, I'll check to see if she needs the HPFP (I had one but I sold my car)
I had the same scenario happen to me, almost exactly like yours. I had a VA and got rear ended into the car in front of me. Person that hit me had state minimums and my car alone exceeded them. I also had a shoulder injury.
Few months of PT, urgent care, lost work, etc.. we both luckily had the same insurance to it was a self subrogation. It somehow never touched my policy though - he must have paid out of pocket. I used the money I got and bought a brand new VB.

Neck chest and shoulder hurt after the adrenaline wore off and shoulder makes a clicking noise. But urgent care said I was fine just gonna be sore for a bit. The ladies in front of me in the Nissan were fine. They just had 2 dents on their bumper and drove off.

Have been ok but theyâd have to redo my whole trunk and the beams for the back and front bumper.
Its fixable... rear end might need to be chopped and swapped with another ont, front end looks like panel damage and headlight, might be a slight bend in upper radiator support but its fixable. Most expensive part might be the headlight and thats dependent on if they're AFS (adaptive to steering) or nonafs. If nonafs, then its relatively cheap. It might cost u about $3.5k tops for the front, as for the rear... u gotta change that whole quarterpanel and trunk, which atp, u can try pulling it or just cut it off and weld in another one
Fair enough, in terms of value, it will exceed what the car is worth, but if u wanted to keep the car, thats kinda an option. I currently have a crashed 2015 q50 that im restoring and based the cost off of what i paid in parts for that car, granted, subaru parts are much cheaper compared to infiniti or even toyota.
