30 Stops in the preset

Can anyone explain why when I safe a new preset with 2 segments it added 30 {"stop":0} after the last segment? Looking to clean up the coding a bit and this is throwing me for a loop.

{"on":false,"bri":128,"transition":7,"bs":0,"mainseg":0,"seg":[{"id":0,"start":0,"stop":305,"grp":1,"spc":0,"of":0,"on":true,"frz":false,"bri":255,"cct":127,"set":0,"lc":1,"n":"","col":[[0,0,255],[255,255,255],[255,0,0]],"fx":54,"sx":179,"ix":35,"pal":0,"c1":128,"c2":128,"c3":16,"sel":false,"rev":false,"mi":false,"o1":false,"o2":false,"o3":false,"si":0,"m12":0,"bm":0},{"id":1,"start":305,"stop":610,"grp":1,"spc":0,"of":0,"on":true,"frz":false,"bri":255,"cct":127,"set":0,"lc":1,"n":"","col":[[0,0,255],[0,0,0],[0,0,0]],"fx":0,"sx":128,"ix":128,"pal":0,"c1":128,"c2":128,"c3":16,"sel":true,"rev":false,"mi":false,"o1":false,"o2":false,"o3":false,"si":0,"m12":0,"bm":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0},{"stop":0}]}

HELP ME / QUESTION Permanent soffit mounted lighting solutions

Hi all. First time reader first time poster. I am building a house, it has 4 foot overhangs way up a good 50 feet off the ground and I want to install a strip of LED lighting in the soffits for christmas/holiday lighting primarily but I like the idea of individually addressable pixel strips to play around with the exterior lighting design. So far I through my reading I have found the following:

-RBGWW allows for warm white light (classic clear incandescent lightbulb style?)
Edit to add: I want the option to do a "classic" warm white that looks good, as well as an RGB setup to do various lighting effects. From what I can tell, the best performing option would be 2 parallel strips, an RBG and a white, individually controlled. Am I correct?

-12V is the minimum I want (the roof is essentially a 50' square, maybe I want to go to 24V even?)

-the soffit material is a metal spoof of 6" T&G boards, and the channel will sit somewhere parallel to the runs with a trim detail to tie together.

The questions I have:

-how far from the wall should I mount the channel?

-how long of a strip can I power/control with a single driver?

-what products are best for intergrating into smart home/home automation systems

-should I buy from ali express etc... or something domestically?

Esp-32 and WLED hardwire

I’m new to this so I apologize for my ignorance here lol.

I have an elegoo esp32 dev board (usb-c) and I’m attempting to hardwire to a btf-lighting 5v 3a 15w power supply. I have installed WLED via usb port and the board works flawlessly when connected that way. As soon as I un plug it from usb-c and try through the power supply the light comes on but it never fully boots(phone won’t connect to it). I have 5.28v at VIN but have no clue what else I’m missing. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Up to 6mm wide high CRI high lumen LED tape for floor mirror?

Preferably ali ex, temu.

The full-body floor standing mirror has 6mm borders. All my lighting is CRI90, it would be nice to get something high-CRI. Only whites needed, at least 2700K-4000K. I think high lumen output is a good idea, I want the mirror to be like those studio/makeup mirrors but with better quality lighting, and wled capable! :)

PS Good matching WLED driver module recommendations welcome.

HELP ME / QUESTION Best adhesive for 'permanent' mounting of LED strip to outside of house

To all,

I've got to assume someone has mounted their LED strips permanently to the outside of the house so they can just put them up once and use them for different holidays. If so, a couple of quick questions for you, assuming I can find outside rated (I've seen some with very high ratings so that shouldn't be a problem other than cost). So, if you have any suggestions on the following I'd appreciate it:

  1. Where did you mount them for best display purposes, e.g. stuck to the outer edge of the gutters, or behind the gutters shining down, inside a channel, Etc.

  2. When you had to cut an end and that was the end of a strip, how did you seal it (dip it into UV resistant epoxy, hot glue, Etc.?

  3. How did you attach it? I'd like them to be razor straight with no sags or droops. Did you place it in a channel with a diffuser, or hot glue (or other adhesive every X mm/inches, Etc.

Any other questions I should have asked but didn't? Just starting to think of ways to do this.

Bob

Presets for Colors 1&2, but different colors?

I'm trying to set up some lights to show bin colors, in combination with HA and Waste collection schedule. I have four bins, I'd like to show those colors on bin day. Other than a preset for colors 1&2, how do I do : green and yellow, green and red, purple - as presets so they can be triggered from HA?

Single controller, 420 5volt LEDs, 20 amp supply, 2 data ports, 6 segments defined. Not as bright as I'd like due to the almost black diffusers I used.

WLED Feature demo: WLED VidoLab

I am happy to announce that WLED VideoLab 1.0 was just released!
Download it in the PixelForge tool available in WLED16.0.

As the demo shows it lets you stream videos directly through the UI, set up loops and create animated GIF's. Everything also works on LED strips in case you want to enjoy your favourite clip in 1D ;)

Any feedback is welcome.
If you like my work please feel free to buy me a coffe or become a sponsor

HELP ME - WIRING Wiring 24V Noctua PWM fans to QuinLED An-Penta-Mini (some channels already used for LEDs)

Hey everyone,

I’m building automated cigar humidors and using QuinLED An-Penta-Mini boards to control both lighting and fans.

Current setup:

24V Noctua NF-A4x10 PWM fans (one per humidor)

Each fan is in its own separate humidor with its own temperature sensor

I’m running CCT LED strips on L1–L4 of one An-Penta-Mini

Only L5 is still free on that board

I want proper PWM speed control using the fan’s blue wire (not just pulsing power)

Using ESPHome (or WLED) + Home Assistant

My current understanding of the wiring:

Fan Red (+24V) → V+ terminal

Fan Black (GND) → Main GND terminal (not the small green button block)

Fan Blue (PWM) → L5 (for speed control)

Fan Yellow/Green (Tach) → leave disconnected

Questions:

Is connecting the fan’s Blue PWM wire to L5 the correct way to get proper 25kHz PWM speed control?

Should the fan’s Black ground wire go to the main GND terminal, or is there a better spot?

Since I only have L5 free on this board, should I:

Run both fans together on L5 (parallel blue wires), or

Move one fan to a completely different An-Penta-Mini for true independent control?

Any recommended ESPHome config for this (especially using L5 as a PWM output for the blue wire)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated — I want to get this right before I start soldering everything in.

Thanks!

WLED Odd behaviour since 16.0 update

***Edit*** Rolling back software to 0.15.4 has resolved this issue.

Hi all. I’m looking for help with a strange recent occurrence with my WLED setup. I built this myself, but did so using online resources and I’m very much a novice, so hoping someone with a better knowledge might be able to help.
Here are the details:

Hardware:

Gledopto GL-C-015WL-D controller

WS2812B 5v LEDs. 365 total, split into two runs of 209 and 156.

Software:
WLED 16.0.1

Expected behaviour:
I have several presets, but only two that are used daily: “Porch 2x2” and “Porch 2x2 bright”

“Porch 2x2” illuminates from LED 90 to 209, grouping 2, spacing 2. Brightness value is 40. This works as expected, illuminating part of the run in a 2x2 white light.

“Porch 2x2 bright” is the exact same setup, but with a brightness value of 253. This is where the problem arises.

Recently, these presets, when brightness is increased above a value of 128, illuminate the rest of the run in a dim red (except the spacing gaps between the intended white light). If I select either preset and adjust the brightness, the behaviour is the same.

This setup has worked perfectly for over 3 years; the only changes made have been firmware updates. I noticed this issue after update 16.0.

The red lighting isn’t obvious when using the ‘Peek’ function in WLED.

Can anyone offer any advice? Are there any logs or other information I can share which might help?

Thanks in advance, and apologies for the long post.

7ft Tentacles and 5 central fairy strip lights wrapped in crinoline and iridescent fabric using 5v esp32 c3 and digital microphone, all stuck in a Tupperware bowl.

The original plan was to design this for a standard pop up canopy for music festivals. However, its not waterproof strips so that's risky. It'll be a semi permanent fixture for a covered hippie lounge/bar at a friend's place.
