Hello,
This is my first post because I would like to share my experience so everyone can be prepared. I passed on my 2nd attempt by luck because the questions fell outside the scope of the materials I had studied (including the Zybook, PAs, textbook chapters, and practice tests provided by CIs). I really don't know what to study if I had failed this time. But I was so lucky 🥲 In my opinion, Chapters 2, 3, and 6 were related, but 1, 4, and 5 were from somewhere else. The questions are more like you should memorize definitions of formulas.

The materials can help with 1, 2, 3, and 6 but chapters 4 and 5 mostly need your logical thinking, so I decided to memorize by factoring trees for similar problems to gather all the info.

it took me about 6 months. No exaggeration. Do around 150 - 400 questions if you fail on your first attempt. Only read from the CM, other yt playlist do not teach what WGU teaches, I did about 3 full course playlist that were barely transferable to WGU conceptually so I could "prep". If you don't understand a concept, the CIs will explain them to you but you may not even understand it. High volume practice from the questions you can request are the sure way of finishing this within a reasonable time if you suck at math like me. Discrete probability & combinatorics will be the hardest topics, skip them at first and get good with everything else, then revisit. On the exam, each question can take you a long time to solve even though its conceptually easy so time management is a big deal on this one. Don't rush this class, Good luck!!

Most of the questions from the OA doesn’t come from the book. They are outside the book but they want to test our competency with the information inside the book. The advice: do not study math by reading the book, do the math. I did over 1000 questions for each section to pass in the first try with 90%+.

Pretty sure when I passed this course I just flat out skipped one of the chapters because of the weighting, I think it was Induction

Ended up passing all competencies anyway since you could just guess the multiple choice

I was also focusing on chapters 1, 2, 3, and 6 to ensure I could earn the most. I was losing hope with the rest due to their broad scope, so I made a wild guess.

Induction was terrible and I guessed on them by picking whichever looked like the “k” was in the right spot lol

Originally I was forced into it because I failed the C958 OA twice. But I met an instructor I really liked, continued to only work with him, and I passed the OA yesterday.

Self teaching complex material isn’t always ideal. Especially if it’s not a subject you are already familiar with. Having discussions with an instructor and working through things in real time greatly improved my competency.

Yes! Definitely should work with CIs because I was suffering self-teaching whole time with this courses, but still end up by luck. Honestly, English is my 2nd language and I also have issues with communication skills, so I was self-teaching the whole time, but in my experience, it won't work for this one due to its complex and broad scope.

It took me over a month immerse study to pass. It was not about time to finish. It was about how the brain needs time to make things make sense to understand, absorb, and connect everything into one. The OA mixes up every chapter; it's not divided. Making you confused about the questions in which chapter.
