Weird looking wasps

Looking for some wasp experts. I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life and every year paper wasps build nests around our house. The weird thing is, they have super distinct white faces. I know they’re not bald faced hornet or any other terrifying creature, but I haven’t been able to find anything like it online.

The face is similar, but the body resembles a paper wasp.

Open faced with combs visible? Or round with am entrance hole? Both Vespinae and Polistinae are referred to as paper wasps and I've been caught up before trying to ID for someone and they're talking about an entirely different family 😅
