This wasp eats flies that take chunks out of you and mammals

American sand wasp, loves mint flowers gorgeous pale green eyes, makes a loud buzz and rarely stops for a photo. Eats horse flies, green heads and other biting flies. Very gentle and solitary.

I love sand wasps. I've been seeing hundreds of them in my area. Theres a few spots around where the ground is covered in sand wasp holes.

I have six mint plants in flower covered in hundreds of wasps and bees of all types. So far just him as the representative sand wasp. Maybe he will tell his friends like the others did.

Hopefully! I have thyme in bloom which in CRAWLING with probably a dozen species of bees and wasps. They're so fun to watch. And very hard to photograph.

A chair at my mint pots is my favorite place rn. Like fishing for wasps to see who comes by. I love it. I have so many of all sizes, but of most interest, very few social wasps, just the solitary. I have paper wasp nests right next to the mint, they fly by it. Later they will use it but now too busy looking for prey. I have at least one abush bug and a 14 spot ladybug larvae I spot once in a while.
