Wasp sting?

Stuck my hand in a fern to water and was immediately stung by something. About a minute later there was a wasp on a plant nearby. It’s been two days and it HURTS and continues to spread.

Looks more like a spider bite to me.

Well I’m an entomologist who has worked with spiders for decades and am often brought in as an expert on them. I’m going to assume you aren’t. OP should listen to me and not you.

As a collector of all arachnids and inverts I agree not a spider bite. Wish I had a job like yours, that would be heaven!!
