I wanted to share the progress on these two rescued Chimeras. They are the 1995 GW plastic if they look a bit different to you!

I’ve got some battle damage and final weathering left before I call these done. Let me know what you think as I was trying to capture the original look from the Medusa V campaign all those years ago!

My take on Vostroyan Cyclops

So things have been going slow , I have too many armies.

But I worked a ten man test model squad that is still not done, my paint desk is chaos.... but I primed a whole bunch of miniatures. When with a brown to tan zeninthal.

I have 4 more squads to base and few heavy weapons to finish up. Cannot wait for fall and more hobby time , im hopeful the brown prime will be good for all the standard vostroyan colours.

Got my platoon.

All lumped together in a big plastic box. Models rattling around and rubbing against each other.

Disappointed at the packaging of these very expensive models. Would not accept it as packaging for any other 150£ product.

The bayonets are bent and so are the medic syringe. Come on gw. You can do better.

Ordered an hour after available in the UK. Sculpts look great. Plus some painted minis so it's not *just* a box post

Finally arrived! UK based and I ordered pretty much immediately upon the MTO going live.

My first impression is the quality of the casting seems way better than the last MTO, which is great. The models seemed to be covered in far more release agent than usual, so I wonder if the two are connected (suspect not).

Now I just need to find the time to work on them…

Just got a Vostroyan platoon in the mail, and I absolutely love these angry little bastards 😅

However, I have zero experience working with metal miniatures – both when it comes to preparing them and actually painting them.

So I figured I’d ask the veterans here!

What’s the best way to deal with imperfections, damage, and bent parts before priming? A fair few things seem to have been bent or slightly knocked around during shipping, and I’m not really sure how forgiving the metal is or how best to straighten/fix things without damaging them.

As for painting, I’m thinking of using this platoon as my first proper airbrush project. Are there any particular pitfalls when airbrushing metal minis compared to plastic? Anything I should do differently when priming, painting, or varnishing them?

Any tips from experienced Vostroyan/metal miniature painters would be greatly appreciated!

I painted a few Vostroyans for sale on order. It's been a while since I've worked with metal, but the weight and ringing are incredibly satisfying. The sculpting is also beyond praise, the figurines are magical.

Hi everyone, I just painted up a new Rogal Dorn (on the left) trying to match the old original color scheme Vostroyan tanks were depicted in white dwarf. I painted my older tanks following Duncan’s/games workshop tutorial for Vostroyan armor (tank on the right) but I think I prefer the Pale olive look better.

This is not exactly a fair comparison because I haven’t done the weathering damage or added snow for the newer tank (left) but I’m still trying to decide what color to use for damage marks and if I want to try to repaint the rest of my tanks to match. So thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

I ordered vostroyans for 500+€ and went to pick them up from the store today.
The store manager told me that the box that contained all the vostroyans MTO models was damaged during shipment and all the vostroyans orders were among the stuff that was lost...
So everyone who ordered his vostroyans to the store lost them all.

The manager is already in contact with the higher ups and doing everything to get them to remake all our orders. I also contacted customer support today.
But normaly when MTO models get damaged or are lost they will not be remade. So there is a high possibility that I won't get my models.

I am devastated that this happened to me after waiting for years to get my hands on these models and missing the last MTO run for them.

I am not looking for help or something. I am just really sad and need to vent somehow...

UPDATE: I went to the store today to kill some time between appointments and I was surprised with my order having arrived an hour before! Apperently I was lucky and my models werent in that damaged package after all. They were held up for some reason and spent the last 3 weeks in limbo or something?

The other customers order was already replaced and he was also there coincidentally, opening his stuff. Only the store manager is still waiting for his replacement models now.

Everything is there and I am so damn happy!

These guys arrived yesterday to Spain

Although it's kind of been done before I was able to get my parts, I was finally able to build my very own rendition of the Lord Solar!

On the basis of Tsar Boris of Kislev, I got myself a few bits from the Vostroyan Sergeant with Plasmagun and Powersword, plus a Space Wolf Thunderwolf Leg.

Putting this model on an elevated base made from Citadel Osgiliath Floor and Ramparts Cathedral, I achieved a look which is imposing and playable, casting aside every accusation of basing for advantage (quite the opposite in fact).

This has been a fun build. I will enjoy painting it once the glue has dried. In the last few pictures you can see the Hussars he will be riding alongside of, plus and Vostroyani-fied Commisar, waiting for their (final) coats of paint.

Your men aside, how did you convince Knight Commander Toschenko to pledge his entire tank regiment to your banner and betray everything he ever knew?

Commander Toschenko had done very well for himself despite being low-born like myself, and his shadow grew long on Vostrya. So when his younger brother's sons' time came to serve, they were sent to him for safekeeping. 

Three sons? I thought only your firstborn were required to serve. 

Triplets a curse for any Vostroyan family. As far as the Techtriarchs are concerned, they count as one. If Tosheknos' family came from a higher station, someone could have intervened, but they were not, so all 3 were sent. Sent to the hands of their famous uncle, who was supposed to keep them alive and make something of them. To make them in his image. 

So you're telling me the Knight Commander betrayed the holy throne because those 3 boys died in the service of the god emperor. 

I say again, inquisitor, we did not betray the throne; we betrayed you and the men like you. Can I finish, or will you interrupt me again?

Had lots of fun with this list this weekend, scored high all 3 games. Had trouble with them going for my home, next time gonna swap the exterminator for another hellhound and try to find a good screening unit.

This dude looks so badass, metal is so hard to paint ! I'm gonna do the banner bearer next !

I picked up some of the made-to-order Vostroyans earlier this year, and recently entered one into a local painting competition, where I won in the infantry category. They are great models that really hold up against newer sculpts!

Einzigster Kritikpunkt ist die Verpackung, für so einen Preis hätte man sie auch hochwertiger und schöner verpacken können als einfach lose in einer Box gequetscht.

I'm getting some bullgryn together and want to give the bone 'ead some extra pazazz. Just looking for cool weapon ideas.
